Called them and called them...they never responded

The entire process from bid to final clean up went extremely well. Would use the company again and recommend them to others. They are very professional, easy to deal with and competitively priced. There were no unexpected costs and they finished the work when they said they would.

No problems at all. During the job, we received a parking ticket for leaving a car on the street overnight due to the dumpster being in our driveway. We tried for 2 weeks to resolve this and eventually had to go to court over the ordeal. By this time, American Roofing was done with the job and long gone. I called Mike DeRosa, explained what had happened and asked him to write a letter. He did and, additionally, offered to go to court with us.

Mike and his crew did a wonderful job. They were very neat and ver professional. I would highly recomend American Roofing.

Mike came out and was able to give an estimate within a few days and emailed me a proposal that night. We ended up having the old roof ripped off and replaced with a new 30 year shingles. For reference our home is a two level colonial with a two car attached garage. I had 4 proposals submitted. 2 came in around the same price of $7500, and two others came in at over $11,000. I was most comfortable with Mike after speaking to him regarding the project and he answered all my questions promptly and honestly. I am pretty busy during the week and usually can not speak to contractors during the day, and he was very responsive by email, and the times we did speak were usually after 9pm. The day the work was originally scheduled for was the weekend when there were 60mph wind gusts so it was not safe to do the job. Mike showed up that morning with his crew and after a discussion we agreed to push to work back to a better day. We were unsure of which shingle to choose and were down to two and mike was able to assist us in choosing a perfect shingle. The job looks great and really makes it look like a new house. I would highly recommend American Roofing to anyone.

On time, on budget, friendly. What more can you ask? I did find, like one other person, that they missed cleaning up in the attic space but, as in the other case again, they came back and got that when I called.

I would highly recommend American Roofing, and if/when we have to get our siding replaced, we are going back to them for the work! American gave us a very good estimate for the work to be done, though due to a lot of rainstorms (and predicted storms by the local weathermen), it took a while to get the job scheduled. It was well worth the wait! The team of workers was able to to the complete roof tear-off, repair 6 sheets of rotting wood, repair the facia and other damage on our detached garadge, and completely reshingle our house and garadge in only one day (and we live in a ranch house). The second day, we had all of the gutetrs installed. The house looks gorgeous, the workers were very nice, easy to talk to, and Mike from American Rofing was very responsive to both phone calls and email questions throughout the entire process. The price I was given as an estimate was the final price I paid, no hidden costs or fees. American Roofing is one of those gems out there in the home repair and service world, I can't rate them high enough.

We bought our house a year ago and the inspector (not a pro roofer) told us that the shingles were brand new and that the roof looked good. Fast forward to today and its leaking like crazy. Mike gave the roof a inspection and determined that even though the shingles were new, they were installed all wrong. Unfortunately, the only solution was a new roof. Mike explained the quote to me in person and was very competitive with other quotes I got. The team did the job in about 7 hours and left the yard very clean. I would have no hesitation recommending them to anyone.

American Roofing did a fantastic job. Knowing that my roof was damaged they scheduled the job for the first day with a suitable weather. They came to my house as scheduled at 8:30 AM and completed roof replacement in one day. Even estimated number of the plywood sheets to be replaced was exactly correct. Another team came next day as scheduled and installed new gutters in only 2 hours. Thanks to the Company President Michael DeRosa, who personally estimated the job and came on-site to make sure that work was done right. I waited to write this review to make sure that there were no roof leaks after the rain. We had couple of heavy rains since and no leaks. I would highly recommend American Roofing.

I recently bought a home in North Caldwell that needed a ton of work. The roof was old and leaking and the gutters were a mess. I had visions of creating a country oasis and restoring the home to its original country glory. I had met with Mike and explained to him what I wanted to accomplish even before I closed. He knew that quality and timing were very important to me. Mike directed and educated me on the types of materials and looks available. His crew came in timely and were professional, neat and did an amazing job! Mike was in constant contact with me to ensure my satisfaction. I could not be more pleased. I have full confidence in his professional abilities and highly recommend him to my friends. He also has a great network of other types of contractors whom I have been equally pleased with upon his referral.

Excellent Work, Came back two years later for what I thought was a leak during a huge storm and it was actually a window that was the problem, they took a look and sealed it up for me at no charge. Great response time and very thoughtful service.

Excellent. I called Mike (president of American Roofing) on the day that I discovered my bedroom ceiling was leaking. He showed up within A FEW HOURS! He explained that a patch might work but would be a waste of money because a new roof was inevitable. Knowing this to be true and immediately trusting Mike he went to work to generate an estimate. The very next day I had an estimate emailed to me followed up by a phone call. Spending this kind of money is scary but Mike's professionalism put me at ease. We set a date, weather permitting. The week that Mike was set to start northern NJ had a huge storm. The roof could not be started. Mike actually contacted me to see how my roof and bedroom ceiling were holding up. I assure you that I was not Mike's only customer and yet he took the time to make a simple call. Once the rain cleared Mike and his crew were here on time. The entire surrounding area was covered and protected and when the work was finished not even small piece shingle could be found. Mike's entire crew did an amazing job. I highly recommend American Roofing!

Mike and his team from American Roofing were professional from the start. They quickly provided an estimate which was reasonable for the comprehensive services provided. Mike periodically checked in with us during our decision making process (we received 4 other estimates) to ensure we had all the information we needed. Once we decided to go with American Roofing, Mike scheduled our repair within 2 weeks and was attentive to projected weather. On the day of the repair, MIke was present and supervising. The job went extremely smoothly and we are very happy with the quality of service, expertise of the repair, and thoroughness of the cleanup afterward. Also, after the winter storms, we had a large branch fall on the roof. After removal, Mike came out the same day to inspect for damages. We would recommend American Roofing to anyone.

It was great. American had done our roof so we decided to use them for our siding. Mike was very easy to work with. We are so happy with the way our home looks.

We called 3 companies to get a bid for the roof on our home. Mike from American Roofing came over and explained the entire project from start to finish. His price was very competitive. We felt very comfortable with him. We had the work done 2 weeks after we received the estimate.The morning the job started Mike and his crew arrived around 8am. They worked all day and finished around 4:30. There was a lot of debris. They loaded all the old materials in a dump truck. My property was really cleand up nicely. After the first heavy rain Mike called to make sure that the prior leak we had was fixed. It was a pleasure working with American Roofing. They made it very easy.

I spoke with Mike numerous times by phone, he was responsive about calling back. He rescheduled a few times due to weather, and then sent out one of his guys when he wasnt able to make it. The roofer did a thorough inspection and left, saying Mike would contact me with an estimate. 3 weeks later I still haven't heard from them.

He had a good reputation. He was going to come the next day and never showed up. He did follow up afterwords. It was OK.

While the entire roof was in need of reshingling, the flat roof, which lay between two pitched roofs, had always been a problem. Two previous attempts to rectify this problem had met with failure. We all recognized that it was a difficult problem to solve. Mike spent a great deal of time and thought analyzing the flat roof problem and devised a plan to repitch the roof, and to install a special "cricket" to divert water into the drainage system. We were eager to use the best materials possible to address this problem, and Mike was able to provide them. His work is warranteed not only by himself, but by GAF, the materials manufacturer who offers this warranty only to roofers whose work is superior, designated by the title Certified Master Elite. Not only were we impressed with this certification, but we also decided to take the additional GAF warranty for extra protection. Mike personally spent a great deal of time on our roof during the work. He has a crew of permanent workers who exhibited professionalism, arriving in a timely fashion, working hard and continuously and being respectful of our home and ourselves. They did an excellent clean-up job at the end. When the job was finished Mike and his crew head Peter took us on an inspection tour to see what had been done and demonstrated with a hose and water exactly how the flat roof had been pitched to drain and to eliminate standing water. Despite the fact that the roof withstood this test and we were happy with the work and we had paid him, Mike arrived the next day with a workman and actually reinstalled one of the skylights at a steeper angle because, on reflection, he felt uncomfortable with it. Thereafter, he contacted us when there were heavy rains and snow to see how the roof was performing. The roof has been leak free through several bouts of inclement weather now. So frequently, one hires a roofer and they simply do a standard roof installation. They do not put in the mental effort to understand a difficult roof problem. We felt that Mike had gone to extraordinary effort to understand and rectify this problem roof and appreciated his understanding of our concerns and his continued interest in the performance of the roof.

I called American Roofing for an estimate on a complete roof tear-off and replacement based on mostly positive reviews on Angie's List. Mike, the owner, came and left the estimate in my mail-box the same day. I then followed up with him and had told Mike I liked dealing with him, as he explained everything thoroughly, but thought they were pretty high in cost. I told him other estimates I had and the scope of work around them and he said he did not want to lose the job based on price and came back with a better priced estimate. I then needed some other supporting docs to show my homeowner association what I was doing (as they need to approve roof replacements) and he providing the documents as needed. I was all ready to take the docs to my board and get it approved to be done and Mike never returned my calls after I left messages for him telling him I chose American Roofing for the job. I ended up with a different company that did the job right, but am amazed at how thorough a job Mike did during the procurement process and making me feel comfortable and then disappearing completely. Makes it seem like he runs a "fly-by-night" company. Very disappointed.

They did a really good job as far as the roof goes. I had a good experience with them. They were very responsive, punctual, and professional. I don't remember what the cost was, but I got 3 estimates. They were not the cheapest, but they were not the most expensive. We had a little problem with the gutters afterward. We have Yankee gutters and it wasn't his area of expertise. He doesn't market himself as a Yankee gutter expert anyway. It so happened that we had them and we had some problems afterwards.

I called and made arrangements for an estimate for replacement of my roof. American never showed up to provide the estimate.

A windstorm had torn sections of roofing off our shed. After checking Angie's list I called American Roofing. Mike, the owner, checked it out and told us that the garage roof could last another 2 or 3 years, but the right way to do the flat shed roof was to run underlayment part way up the garage roof slope, and that would require re-roofing the whole structure. We agreed that would be best. On the day of the work, it was amazing to see a crew of 9 busy men swarming all over our garage and shed roof. There were men ripping up shingles, men shoveling debris into a truck, and another man bending new aluminum trim. They were very efficient. The whole job took about 3 1/2 hours from start through cleanup. Mike had matched the new roof to our house roof, and it looks terrific.

Mike came by for an external inspection during the day while we were not home; he then returned on a late evening to accommodate our schedule and did an internal inspection before we discussed options. Mike was in no way high pressure; he offered us clear options for less costly alternatives but we chose the roof replacement. We scheduled the work to be done within the week. On the scheduled day Mike showed up with a crew of nine. They had the entire job done along with cleanup and haul-way in about five hours. We love the work, the crew was fast and professional and Mike was truly a pleasure to do business with.
