No work was performed - I never got a quote.

They were very polite on the phone, agreed to come and give an estimate and then never showed up. They were called to find out why they missed the appointment and we have heard nothing for over 3 weeks. All I can guess is that they have so much business, that if they see a job that they do not want, that they can simply ignore a potential customer. They were called because the reviews by customers that used them said that they did good work and acted in a professional manner. I guess the trick is to actually get them to speak to you before you can get them to act professionally, as the reviews by people who did not use them reflect this kind of treatment. It would have been nice if they told us that the job was too big, or too small, or that they did not like the look of the house. Anything would have been appreciated.

I am seriously considering using them. The estimate was free. The guy was honest and upfront. He was not overselling; he was as real as you could get. He told me that his price would neither be the lowest nor the highest. He told me that he would do a good job. He told me that I could call any of his clients for whom he had worked earlier.

After Hurricane Irene started calling roofers. Left a message with the receptionist. Received a phone call 48 hours later which was understandable under the conditions. A visit was scheduled for the next day and no one ever showed up and on one ever called back.

Mike was courteous from start to finish, and went above and beyond to make sure the job was performed correctly. We are very satisfied with the work after having no leaking during the recent hurricane. Furtheremore, Mike even called during the hurricane to confirm that there was no leaking. Therefore, our experience with Mike was very postive.

Called twice and spoke to someone. No one ever called back. If you can't or won't do the job then how about a courtesy call.

The president of the company Mike DeRosa came personally to view the job and do an estimate, then followed up with another visit to confirm what needed doing and to discuss my preferences. There was no pressure, just reassurance, and explanations as to what was wrong and what he proposed to do - a complete replacement of the roof and a more thorough attachment to the adjoining house walls. We had a lengthy delay because weeks of rainy weather prevented the job from being done, but Mike worked with me on finalizing a date, and when that came he brought his full crew and they worked until the job was completed. They were punctual, courteous, cleaned up all resulting debris - we were left with no mess at all - and worked very hard for about 7 hours in extremely hot weather. Mike tested the skylights and the roof with a garden hose before leaving. The resulting job looks good, and has held up through a number of storms since. Overall I had a good experience, and I was particularly impressed with the customer care shown throughout the process. Communication before the job was good, and on the day I was never left with a managerless crew - this is an outfit where the top man is on hand and making sure everything happens as promised. I'd recommend American Roofing to anyone.

Excellent service - Mike DeRosa runs a very efficient and caring company. As a new home owner, I really have no idea what my house requires. Mike and his crew made sure they gave me the best product - they worked very hard, cleaned everything and finished in a few hours. Mike is definitely a rare business owner today. In a world where everyone's trying to make a cheap buck, he's more concerned about doing a good job. I'm so happy I found him on Angie's List. Definitely recommend!

Mike came quickly to give us an estimate, and made our repair a priority due to the leak and interior damage. He sent a crew who tore the shingles and plywood off our flat-roofed dormir, and pulled out the wet insulation. They put down new insulation, plywood, and roll roofing, and installed a gutter and leader all in one afternoon. Their clean-up was thorough. Peter, the supervisor, even cleaned up inside the house where the work left some debris. They were friendly, professional, and thorough, and we really appreciated how Mike expedited our job since there was a lot of damage from the leak. I recommend American Roofing very highly.

It was great!! had used Mike and his team on my main house last year. Mike gave me a very professional estimate and was very honest with his assesment. The crew showed up and they did a wonderful job. Mike and his team are like a well greased machine.

Mike DeRosa, the owner, was professional, punctual and a pleasure to work with. He visited promptly for an estimate, and then worked with us to find 2 days for the roof replacement. He would check in on the job while underway and was in continual contact with us during the days that the job was going on (and afterward). His crew was amazing- fast, neat and professional. One day for removal & replacement of most of the roof. Second day for the rest of the roof, the small trim roofing and the 2 car garage roof (which needed repair also). Third morning for the gutter & downspouts which were replaced by a team of gutter professionals that Mike's company had coordinated and brought in (and also supervised). Figuring out how to dispose of the asphalt shingles sliding off the roof was tricky because we had an overgrown garden down below in the front and back of the house. Mike's team took care with our plants and landscaping and there was no damage to the shrubbery. Mike and his job foreman and job supervisor coordinated everything and it went off like clockwork. You could tell that these guys had worked together for years and really knew what they were doing. Peter, the foreman, gave me his cellphone number and checked back at the end of the job to make sure we were happy with everything. We were! This was a big job and I'm very happy with the results. it looks like a new house- beautiful!

Mike and his crew did an excellent job from start to finish. I contacted American Roofing back in March and found their quote was in the mid range of other quotes I had received, however I liked the amount of detail provided within the quote and that Mike made himself available to answer my numerous questions and revise the quote as necessary. The actual date for doing the roof got pushed back a couple of times due to all the bad weather we have experienced lately but Mike kept me updated on all changes and was very apologetic. They started the job on Monday morning and took great care covering the sides of my house and my neighbors houses (which are very close to mine) with tarpaulin. On removing the gutters, which had only recently been installed, they discovered that they had been attached to rotten wood and had been damaged as a result. Mike explained the situation immediately and showed me the damage, he proceeded to fix the problem without any additional charge to the original quote (except the cost of the new gutters) His crew were polite and friendly and worked tirelessly to complete the job. We were extremely pleased with the work done, the clean up and our new roof. I would highly recommend American Roofing to anyone.

American Roofing was amazing. We called 3 companies for estimates. one was non responsive until a few weeks after the initial call. Mike with American Roofing was very responsive. Sent follow up emails. Sent over samples, etc. They are NOT pushy. They were not the cheapest and certainly not the most expensive. The day of the job they came, went over everything with me and moved my plants or protected them (I am an avid gardner so I was concerned about this). Roof went up in one day (I have a pretty big hip roof). They kept me posted of any rotten wood or issues (which there weren't many of) throughout the day.I went out in the afternoon with my kids and when I came back it was as if nothing happened at all other than the great new roof. The clean up was perfect. Every potted plant was put back exactly as they had found it and not a nail to be found anywhere. American Roofing is GREAT!

Used Angie's list to pick three roofing companies for estimates Called American Roofing and Siding. Mike was very responsive, answered all our questions. Quick replies by email and phone.Work was done in one day as promised. Our property was well cleaned up. Mike decided we needed some vents in our soffit. He said someone would come in a week or two to install them at no extra cost. The vents were installed as promised. The roof looks beautiful and so do the white gutters. The price was competitive. We would use Mike and his team again.

I was interested in obtaining an estimate for repair and/or replacement on my leaky roof. I made at least 2 calls and was able to speak to someone who took a message. Unfortunately, my calls were never returned, so I had no idea if they weren't interested or just too disorganized to call me back. If they were too busy, they should have just said so.

They started on Monday afternoon and were done and gone leaving behind not a trace by mid-day Wednesday. I couldn't belive the amount of work and the time it was done. My wife has extensive gardens that they successfully made special efforts to protect. Mike DeRosa and his entire company was a pleasure to deal with.

After an extensive search of roofers in our area, my wife and I decided to work with Mike and Crew at American Roofers and Siding. Mike’s knowledge and experience made what was once an intimidating project, go through without a hitch. Made an appointment with mike from american roofing, he was prompt and answered any questions that my husband had. we had just bought a fixer upper and wanted estimates on getting a new roof. There was a hole on the side of the roof and my husband inquired about the cost of repairing it until we could get the roof done. Mike gave us a quote which we thought was fair, but when we contacted him on several ocassions to actually do the repair he kept blowing us off. I know that he would not have made as much on the repair but it was until we could get the roof done this summer. I would have appreciated him being up front and telling us that he had no interest in doing the repair. it's poor business sense, this small job would lead to a large job( replacing the roof)!

I needed a completely new roof. I had the shingles, plywood undelayment and the gutters all removed and replaced by American Roofing & Siding. My old roof was only 17 years old, but the job was not done properly at the time. It was a nightmare, and the roofing company would never respond to my calls after the work was done. Considering this bad experience the first time, I wanted to be sure it was done right this time. American Roofing had good reviews, so I contacted them. Mike had his Operations Manager, Peter, give us an estimate. It compared very good to other estimates. Mike provided us with many references and with color samples and the addresses of homes to look at to see the actual roofs in that color. All worked out very well. The finished job was excellent! Mike and Peter were on-site (my son, who was home all day, said Peter kept a close eye on every detail of the job the entire day). On a Saturday, two days after the roof was completed, we had a monster rainstorm. Mike called me on Saturday night to check on how the roof was doing (no problems). A great follow-up. The roof looks great. American Roofing & Siding exceeded all of my expectations. Mike and Peter are very customer conscious and personable. All in all, a very good experience. I will definitely call them again as needed!

Outstanding work. Mike is excellent to work with. Responsive to emails and calls right away. Happy to go back and forth on questions, research your suggestions if you have them, and come back with solutions. Estimator showed up on time, estimate was delivered on a timely basis, and work was done in the time frame promised. The guys were very skilled. Had the entire old gutter system off the house in half and hour and then measured each section of the house, then produce the actual seamless gutter in their truck to fit the house perfectly. They were neat and clean and when the job was done you wouldn't have known they were ever there except for the new gutters! During the job I had a question for Mike who wasn't yet on scene and he returned my call promptly came to the job site, and provided the answers. These are your guys.

Selected them from Angie's List because of high numbers of excellent reviews, as well as strong coupon. Their listing under NYC metropolitan area expressly says they service "entire area". Called at about 10 am to tell them I needed someone to look at my leaking roof. A very nice, professional sounding person took my information and said that they would call me back as soon as possible. I gave both my home and work numbers. When I got home, a phone message had been left at 4 pm saying that they "really only concentrate on Essex County" and while they would not be able to help me (I live in Bergen County) they hoped I would have luck finding someone who would. I have no reason to doubt the excellent reviews of those who have used their services, and certainly everyone I spoke to or who left the message for me were polite and efficient, but really, if they are going to limit themselves to a single county, then they should make that clear in their listing, rather than causing me to lose an entire day of my time when I could have been contacting someone who DOES want work in Bergen County. Respectfully, I think they should change their listing to reflect the territory they are actually interested in servicing.

It went great. They did an outstanding job from start to finish. They came in not the lowest price but they were right in the middle. I feel like they gave me really good products. The workmanship is great. I have gotten so many compliments on the way my house looks. I would highly recomend calling American Roofing if you are in the need of exterior services.

Mike responded to my initial inquiry w/in 1 day (and it was a very busy day for them, I'm sure). He was able to squeeze us in the following weekend, and they did a good, thorough job. Mike is always prompt and good via email; and the price and quality were very good.
