Went very well. Found a few problems which was no surprise as the house is about 80 years old.

The project went very well. Within three days, we had a new and stronger roof. In addition, they replaced our chimney which was approximately 100 years old and had never been serviced.

When a contractor shows up on time for an estimate or calls to inform me they are running late they start off with a big plus in my book. Val arrived on time for an estimate on removing existing yankee gutters and installing new gutters on a home I own. I had wanted this work done since 1997. They worked fine then but I just did not like them. It was not always at the top of the and quot;to doand quot; list until recently and over the years I have had numerous estimates and heard many ideas on the best way to deal with old yankee gutters. Val did not hesitate on detailing his work plan, materials involved and cost estimate. After speaking with countless contractors for this service over the years, it was obvious Val knew what he was doing. He is not an officer worker with a briefcase, clipboard and calculator (some of these types may be good but I prefer to talk to someone who knows what is involved because he or she has actually done it). The estimate from Vals Construction ($3800) was the best I had ever received even allowing for inflation from previous year(s) estimates. His work plan was the most thorough. Others were going to cover up damaged areas. Putting new over old only works if the old is not severely damaged. You need something stable to nail to. Mine was too far gone to save and had been for some time. Other recent contractors were going the cover it up route. Val removed all the old roofing involved and gutters. The materials used were excellent. I check out the labels and look them up online. Low estimates sometimes involve cheap materials. Val did not use cheap material. The stuff he put up was made to last. Clean up was great. No debris remained for me to have to deal with. His workers even helped me scour the alley and driveway for stray nails when I expressed concern for my dogs paws and car tires. Down spouts were located to allow easy connection to my water barrels and additional pieces were provided for when I removed the barrels for the winter. This was very important to me. I will definitely call Vals Construction with my next project. I already have one that moved to the top of my list.
