Chuck was always around to supervise his men, was always accessible to answer any questions that I had and was even able to appease a complaining annoying neighbor. His men came early and did not leave until night fall. They even cleaned my attic of the debris that had fallen when the roof was taken off, (there were 3 layers). All of his workers were respectful and professional. The roof was completed in 3 days just as Chuck had promised. I would definitely recommend Chuck and Bayonne Roofing to anyone needing a new roof; I am a very satisfied customer.
Description of Work: Bayonne Roofing did an excellent job on my roof. The new roof also included new leaders, gutters, and repair of additional storm damage to my siding, window frame, and awning.

+ -1 moreChuck's office responded to my call almost immediately. They gave me an estimate within a couple of days. It was a little high, but I went with them partly because of the storm and demand on roofers and partly because I'd used them a few years earlier for a small leak. Back then I had expected them to try to sell me a new roof, but they said it just needed flashing and fixed it, and I was surprised at the honesty. My insurance adjuster had asked me to ask them to take pictures before starting. They took a whole roll for me. They arrived at 7:30 on the scheduled day and worked until dark. They finished the job in that one day and even re-roofed my shed, which wasn't part of the deal. They cleaned up thoroughly. The office manager, Cindy, was always available by phone or called me back promptly. I was very pleased with the whole deal.
Description of Work: Roof was severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy. Installed new plywood, felt and shingles.

Description of Work: My 81 year old mother hired Charles Torrella, Bayonne Roofing, to replace her roof in Aug 2007. She had a contract and gave a substantial down payment before I knew anything about it. She lives in a row house. Her neighbor 2 houses away has an identical house. Bayonne Roofing replaced the neighbor's roof in June 2007 for $6,000. The neighbor gave me a copy of his contract which was pretty much identical to my mother's - hard to say exactly because the handwriting is so bad. My mother called Bayonne Roofing because they replaced a roof for her many years ago when Charles' father was running the company. I feel Charles completely took advantage of an old woman by charging her $4,000 more than he charged her neighbor. In addition to ripping her off, the workmanship was terrible. In 2010 I tried to access my roof thru the inside hatch and could not open the hatch. I found out it was tarred shut. No one had been on the roof since it was replaced in 2007. I called Bayonne Roofing about it since they obviously tarred it closed when they tarred the roof. The office woman questioned why I needed to get on the roof. Charles denied tarring it closed but offered to "fix it" for $250. In addition to replacing the roof, Charles charged $500 to install a vent. When the vent leaked in 2010, I called Charles about it. He said the vent wasn't covered by the 10 year warranty & he could install a better one for $750. I hired someone else to remove the vent, patch the whole and "untar" the hatch. I was told the vent was installed incorrectly and not sealed properly. Now the roof is leaking again in a different place. I called another roofer yesterday and was told there were so many problems with the way the roof was installed that he couldn't guarantee a "repair" would hold. He said I need an entire new roof. He said Charles used inferior material, used left over pieces from other jobs so there were so many seams that water could get into, did not seal things properly, etc. It was a horrible experience dealing with Charles and his company. He's a terrible person for stealing from an old woman & then doing shoddy work on top of it.

+ -1 moreThey left large gaps around our windows where they should've replaced metal that they tore off to get at the old roof. We now have several leak sites w/a brand new roof. They are rude and suspicious (suggesting our inside damage could've been caused by a leak prior to their work) on the phone and in person. They damaged my neighbors carport and have not fixed it. They damaged our wood siding in several places.
Description of Work: Tore off old roof, put on new roof.

+ -1 moreTHEY HAD TO HANG OVER THE ROOF JUST TO GET TO THIS OLD HATCH. SO THERE IS NOTHING THIS ROOFING COMPANY CANT FIX. THEY HAVE BEEN IN THIS TOWN FOR 50 YEARS AND STAYING STRONG. YOU CAN TRUST THEM TO FIX YOUR ROOF. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

+ -1 moreI HAD A TEN YEAR GUARANTEE AND THE ROOF LEAKED AFTER TWO YEARS. WHEN THEY CAME TO FIX IT, THEY ADMITTED THAT THE ROOF WAS PUT ON WRONG AROUND THE SKYLIGHT. THEY SAID THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE DAMAGES, BUT THEY HAVEN'T YET.
