Description of Work: "A few months ago, I discovered the support beams in my crawl spaced had rotted and needed to be replaced. It was a big job that involved supporting my home on temporary beams and jacking the house to get it back in alignment. I had a number of contractors out to give me quotes and hired Century Masonry & Waterproofing. | |Within a day or so of my call to Century the owner, Sean, came out to see the problem and recommend a solution. Although the job itself was scary (I kept envisioning the house collapsing) I felt very comfortable that I was in good hands with Sean. I was very pleased with the professional and prompt service this company provided. The work team was very friendly and took the time to explain what was being done. I can't say enough good things about this company and I highly recommend them!"

Description of Work: Century Masonry injected polyurethane into cracks in our basement. They also closed in one of our basement windows. The owner was very knowledgeable, professional and responsive. The basement does not get water and we were given a 5 year warranty which is transferable. I highly recommend this company for waterproofing and masonry work.

In April 2014 we sold our house and subsequently had the home inspection in May which showed high moisture content near one of the cracks in the foundation. Our buyers wanted to meet with Sean so they could discuss the work his company performed. Even though Sean is extremely busy, he accommodated our buyer's schedule and met with them within 2 days. He spent a couple of hours with us and also re-injected the crack to ensure no leaks would occur. Sean confirmed that the warranty would NOT be an issue should a leak occur in the future. Bottom line, the quality of Sean's work, his work ethic, reliability, integrity, professionalism and personable nature are second to none. His team is courteous, neat and very hard working. Without hesitation and with 100% confidence, I can tell you if you need any waterproofing or masonry work - hire Sean Ryan and his crew at Century Masonry and Waterproofing.
Description of Work: Sean Ryan and his company, Century Masonry and Waterproofing, injected a few cracks in our basement using the polyurethane injection method in September 2013 to ensure we would not get water in our basement. They also blocked in one of our windows. From the first time I spoke with Sean I liked him - as it turns out, I was right! Before scheduling the work, he came to our house twice. He was very knowledgeable, professional and patient while explaining the method he uses. I told him we planned to sell our house the following year so the 5 year warranty which he provides and is transferable was something we were interested in. His recommendations with what needed to be done were right on.

I had had a competitor come first for an estimate. That company proposed to do a similar remediation with trenching and a sump pump but they wanted to do the entire perimeter of the basement, including the area that was finished and had never shown signs of moisture. I was reluctant to tear up the finished parts of the basement. Sean from Century came, listened to my story, looked at the pictures I have of the basement before it was finished and agreed that it seemed to be unnecessary to tear up everything. He proposed just treating the area that was unfinished and had evidence of moisture. On the day of the work, Sean and his men arrived on time and got to work. They jackhammered the cement floor,hand-carried out all the cement that they broke up, laid drainage pipe, installed piping in the walls, installed a sump pump in an existing hole, connected the drainage pipe to existing piping outside that runs the gutters away from the house and installed something that helps avoid a back up due to freezing. They mixed and laid cement down to cover the work that they'd done. Even though they had no window downstairs to vent out dust, somehow, there was very little dust from all this. They laid tarps from my front door , down the basement stairs to the area where they were working. It was remarkable how little dirt that was created. On the same day, they also painted the walls in the unfinished storage room to freshen up and reseal the walls. This was all done in one day. The guys just kept working. I guess they took turns taking breaks and eating but at no time was there not someone working. They let the cement dry for a couple of weeks and then came back and installed a special vinyl flooring in the storage room and adjacent laundry room and area at the bottom of the stairs. I was very happy that this company offered the option to have the flooring replaced. What they offered was limited and somewhat unusual but it was so easy to just hire them to do the job, rather than having to find another contractor to do replace the flooring and then to coordinate the two companies. On the day that the flooring was put down, when the men initially called me to say that they were done, I was not satisfied with how the tile was cut in several areas. Even though it was the end of the day - and a Friday - they stayed an extra hour and recut tiles to do a better job. On that day and several times since then when speaking to the employees of Century Masonry and Waterproofing, I was told that they truly want their customers to be happy. If there's something that's bothering you, they want to know and they will do whatever they can to rectify it. I think they were terrific. As a post note, my neighbors across the street had water remediation done at their house and I watched the contractor come to their house for ten days! Every time I looked out the window, the workers were outside, taking a break. They were subjected to noise and dirt for almost two weeks. I couldn't believe the difference!
Description of Work: Dug a trench in a cement floor, installed piping, installed sump pump and connected to existing drainage pipe outside. Painted cinderblock wall with water-resistant paint and installed special vinyl flooring.

Very good service. The guy actually came a few days earlier than what we scheduled, which helped us out dramatically. Very nice guy. When he put the insulation back up he made sure it was all replaced at no extra cost.

This was an excellent company to work with. I called them and sent out a representative quickly. They advised me about the long wait, but said they'd be able to get to my home the 1st week of January. The crew was excellent! They were courteous and cleaned up very well after themselves. I’d definitely call them again.

The owner came out to review what the source of the water entry was. Two other companies gave me an expensive $2500-$3000 internal waterproofing solutions. Century said that the problem is most likely from an exterior lear from my cement porch landing and offered a referral to another company with a fix at a fraction of the cost. Extremely honest people in an industry that isn't.

Clearly the owner of this company is an honest man.
Description of Work: On his own recommendation, we did not use Century to waterproof the basement. He came to assess the situation and noticed that the area of the house where we have no flooding has extensive gutter work, but the trouble area had none. His recommendation was to deal with the gutters first and see how it goes. We did and all was well until two weeks ago. Now I must give Century another call.

I was impressed with them. They didn't do any work; they actually were consulting with me about someone else who we hired who was attempting to do waterproofing. They made suggestions and told me what to look for. They were very, very good. They gave me a quote for some work but we already had someone here that they highly recommended anyway when they found out who it was. They said that I've got the best there is. That person's quote was the quote we went with anyway. The reason I was impressed with Century Waterproofing was because I really picked them up from Angie's List. After they came here, they made recommendations that I had double checked with other sources and their recommendations were spot on with the person I finally selected from many different contractors to do some excavating around the foundation. When they told me that I should get an excavator to do that work I had already gotten this person. They said, the best there is, is so and so and I said that happens to be the name of the person I am using and they couldn't believe I got him because he is very hard to obtain apparently. I told them that I'd got him and he was here that day. There were so impressed and said that there is nothing more we can do and you've got the best. Their willingness to consult an advice was impressive. Their quote was in line with the individual excavator who they would have hired and probably would have subbed under their own. As it turns out I pay directly to the person involved and I didn't have to pay them. I did a lot of homework and my understanding was that if I had gone with a waterproofing such as them, they were very good; they would charge me for seeing the project. I didn't pay them for seeing the project; I obtained my own contractor and sub. They were not involved in the type of the average home owner would have hired them for and they knew that from the very beginning but they still were totally willing to talk to me and lead me through some questions I had. I hope to work with them because we are having problems now. It has nothing to do with them; it has to do with the fact that this is a very ongoing problem with water getting in where it shouldn't go and what to do about it.

Sean was professional and responsive from start to finish. He was there when he said he was going to be, and let me know on days that he was not going to be there. The job was finished quickly and efficiently and the work he and his crew did was excellent. He and his workers were courteous and friendly, and they did excellent work. I am so pleased with my basement, I can't recommend him enough. I do not wish basement problems on anyone, but recommend him if you do have any sort of problem.
Description of Work: We had water in our basement under a floating floor, and Sean ripped out damaged flooring and walls, put in drains, sump pump and dehumidifier, and replaced flooring and walls.

Century Masonry & Waterproofing arrived on site exactly on the day and time I was advised. It was quite evident that Century's employees were truly professionals. Century came in and setup the predetermined layout for these carbon fiber reinforcing bands that went from floor to ceiling. Just as the brochure said The Reinforcer Stops Bowing Walls and that is quite clear when you actually see them in place. Century patched all other smaller cracks to insure that no water would enter the basement again. The following day my wife and I went over to cleanup but that wasn't necessary as Century didn't leave anything behind to be picked up. In todays times it certainly nice to know that we still have some companies who do professional work and actually take pride in what they do. Century Masonry & Waterproofing provides the latest in high tech solutions with good old fashion American values. Thank you Century for a job well done.
Description of Work: We were advised that a home we were selling had developed several horizontal cracks in the masonry walls of the basement. This was found after a potential buyer had a home inspection. These cracks caused water to enter but even more of a concern was the walls were bowing in to some degree. I called Century Masonry & Waterproofing and Mr. Sean Ryan set up an appointment for the very next day to evaluate the job and to prepare an estimate on cost. My concern was not only correcting the problem but I needed a warranty so that a potential buyer would have a guarantee that the problem was corrected. The system proposed by Century was a carbon fiber system designed to strengthen concrete and masonry structures. I was impressed with this system as well as the price which included a 25 year warranty.
