Excellent. Travis came over and gave me an estimate and answered my questions. Date was set and adhered to. Three teams of workmen came through. One team ripped out floors, the next installed the hardwood and the last came and mixed the stain to match my other floors perfectly. They also came daily to put the desired layers of polyurethane on. The workers were on time, thorough and cleaned up. Travis was by daily to oversee and addressed any concerns. My floors look gorgeous. Overall, I’m very, very pleased with the outcome and would highly recommend!

The installation of the floors was done properly. However, the installation of the railings and stairs were a nightmare. I came home to find construction adhesive all over my walls and furniture, the finish on my stairs was incorrect, and they spilled poly urethane on the pre-finished floors. They did return three times to attempt to correct the problem to no avail when i finally told them enough was enough. I have used them before and never experienced this lack of customer service. I will not use them again.

BAD. My bamboo flooring was separating in two spots. My original installer retired. Dan Gorsegner sent two repairmen to my condo to install two transitions between rooms to correct the problem. The repairman named Armando said they just finished making the same repairs in an entire house with bamboo floors and he guaranteed his repairs would work to fix the problem. He also advised me that I was being overcharged by Gorsegner's for such a repair but I told him I just wanted the job done right and because of their reputation, I thought I would be satisfied with their workmanship. When Dan Gorsenger originally came to do the estimate he told me one room of flooring had to be removed and I needed to purchase all new wood from them to do the repair. Armando told me that was not true and proceeded to finish the job by installing the second transition. That was in September 2014. By January 2015 my floor was totally separating again in both spots. I set up a date with Mr. Gorsegner to come out and inspect the job. He cancelled via e-mail message at the last minute. Funny that he had no problem collecting $800 from me but would not return to my home at a mutually convenient time to correct the situation. Very unprofessional company. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone!! Stand clear of this place!!!!
Description of Work: Well he was supposed to repair my bamboo flooring but it looks worse now then before the "repair".

The company sent over a representative to see my floors to give me a quote. I clearly explained that I wanted a stain similar to what I had; a dark rich stain. I was told NOT a problem. When the team would come, they would give me the stain options and I could select my color. No problem. Day 1, they sanded the floors and performed a couple of stain samples so that I could choose. I selected my color which was a dark red mahogany and ebony mixture. I was skeptical that it was a bit light but was told that the color would dry to my liking. Day 2, I inspected my floors and to my complete DISMAY the wood color was a chocolate light brown. I was NOT happy. I was NOT going to put an oil finish on this color. Not acceptable. They tried to convince me that applying a second stain would possibly damage my floors. I was NOT buying this. I was not proceeding until the color was fixed as discussed the previous night. A dark rich stain. They added a second coat of stain. Day 3, They added a coat of poly Day 4, they added a coat of poly The office REFUSED to schedule the 3rd coat of poly because they had performed 1 stain and 2 coats of poly. I received an invoice which stated ....sand, and finish by applying 3 coats of poly. I refused to pay this invoice until I received a 3rd coat of oil poly but they refused until I accepted to pay them an extra fee of 130+tax. In the end, their office stated that the quote was for 3 coats of finish which means 1 coat of stain and 2 coats of oil. This was a flat out lie. The quote stated verbatim "sand........and finish with 3 coats of oil based poly". Anyone who is looking for a dark rich stain, please review your quote and get the clarifications in writing before accepting the quote. Otherwise you will be held hostage and will be forced to pay extra to finish the job. In addition, they subcontract their work. I would have been so much happier if I would have contracted this job with the subcontractor who did a very nice job.

We received an estimate from Dan Gorsegner a little over 2 years ago. We felt really comfortable with him. The price to refinish our downstairs living room, kitchen, and dining room floors was very reasonable. Unfortunately, Hurricane Irene rolled in and due to damage from the hurricane we had to put off our remodeling for more urgent fixes around the house. I called the company back in April or May of this year (2013) now that we have the finances to continue our remodel and spoke to a gentleman who said that someone would call me back to schedule a time to come by and review new products, services, and provide an updated estimate. Great! Our goal was to complete this before our summer work schedules started in mid-June. I received a call to schedule an appointment but couldn't answer, and when I returned the call I did not hear back again. Called a few times the next week and still no response. Now that summer work is over, it has been almost 3 months since I have heard anything from this company. I called back again today and reached someone in person. He stated that he needed to "check with his manager if they even come up this far north anymore". Ok....that's strange. I would have begun looking for a new company at the beginning of the summer! Figured I wouldn't get upset until I got a call back. Received a call back within minutes stating "I verified with my manager that we don't work that far north anymore". No apology, no explanation for not getting back to me. Finally I got upset and said that I felt they wasted my time for a very long time and I could have been looking for another company by now!!! And I asked to speak to this manager. The person on the other end of the line laughed and said "ok I will give them your number". No call back yet. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL WASTE YOUR TIME!!!

Description of Work: After hearing that the company had been in business for so long, and being local we hired them. The work contracted was to install 5' oak wood floors to the Kitchen, Living room, Dining Room, and Upstairs hallway and stair landing. The crews showed up on time, that is about the best thing I can say. The installation was horrible. There is huge expansion and contraction between the pieces of wood. All of the moulding was ruined in every room. In the eat in part of the kitchen, they cut the floor in crooked ( yes, crooked) and to make matters worse, used blue painting tape on new wallpaper and ripped of the top layer all along the staircase. Management denied responsibility, although the only English speaking guy on the crew couldn't stop apologizing. I would never, NEVER hire anyone associated with this company. Also, I was told I couldn't have a high gloss finish, but the company I replaced them with said its not an issue.

While Gorsegner Brothers once had a good reputation, I would strongly suggest reconsidering using them if you want to ensure that a quality job is done.
Description of Work: Gorsegner Brothers used to be an excellent, customer-focused company but apparently not since the "younger generation" took over. I had them refinish an enclosed porch (which is over a crawl space). I was told to get a deck stain (which struck me as odd but I was assured that is what was needed). Luckily I happened to run into the Olympic stain representative when I went to buy the stain at Lowes. He told me that deck stains typically contain mildewcide chemicals and are NOT to be used indoors. In fact, he was very surprised that any flooring company would have even suggested it for an enclosed space. Gorsegner Brothers did a good job on sanding and staining the floor. However, sealing the floor was delayed on my part and when I was ready to have the floor sealed I noticed a long scratch (not at all Gorsegner Brothers' fault). I called Gorsegner Brothers and asked if it could be taken care of when the floor was sealed. I was told that if I had or could purchase a small amount of the stain, the scratch could be pretty effectively hidden and I would receive a call to confirm an appointment for doing the work. Before I confirmed that I had the stain and without confirming an appointment with me, Gorsegner Brothers entered my porch, used some type of dark marker on the scratch, and sealed the floor. Even Gorsegner Brothers agrees that what was done doesn't look good and the entire floor should be redone, but they are claiming no responsibility on their part for this fiasco.

The refinishing went well but quite a bit of shoe molding needed to be repainted. Not that this was a big deal but I did ask them before starting if the shoe molding wild need to be repainted and they said I should not need to. however, I did need to.

Description of Work: We received a quote to have 2 bedrooms, hall and staircase refinished. Also contracted to have new stair railings and spindels replacing existing ones. The company had communication problems and used the wrong finish on the floors, so they had to refinish them a second time. The overall quality of the workmanship was sloppy-stain was spilled on the walls, trim work was poorly cut and nailed, When I asked about repairing holes left in the wall I was told that wasn't their job, that my painted would take care of it. The workman did not put down any tarps to protect the existing floors.even though we paid extra to have the dustless system , there was still a lot of dust on everything. There was a problem trying to speak with anyone-only the foreman spoke English and the wokman wore headphones the whole time they were there. I have to admitt that when I spoke to the company, they admitted they had made errors and came back to correct them. However what was to be a 2-3 day job took 2 weeks to complete, causing my wife or myself needing to miss work to be home for all or parts of 6 days. We have used this company before over 20 years and have never experienced any of these problems before, but based on this last time We will not be using them in the future.

They were great. Overall, the work done was great. They were very prompt and did exactly what they said and it worked out very well. They re-did a floor, that people said could not be done. Moreover, they did it very well. The floor is six years old and now after they re-finished the floor it looks like it's just been laid. I would use them in the future, but I probably won't need to.

When coming to give a quote, they were very straightforward about flaws that might not be able to be fixed because of old damage. The workers were prompt and polite, and worked quickly. The job took parts of 3 days (sanding, finish, sealer) but the floor was accessible fairly quickly after the individual parts. The dust-free service was extra, but worth it, as there was no sawdust anywhere. The floor looks amazing now. Some of the flaws they warned about did remain, but others blend in perfectly, and actually make it look better. I have already called them about doing more work installing a new floor because I was so satisfied with their professionalism, the quality of their work, and their prompt response.
Description of Work: Had an old wood floor (partly covered in old crusty linoleum glue) sanded and refinished.
