Grey Rock Hardscapes, LLC

This review could have been avoided if the owner Renee would have sat down with us and discussed our dissatisfaction, honoring the warranty and coming to a resolution. We contracted with Grey Rock Hardscapes LLC who sub contracted to Blue River landscaping LLC. We hired them to: 1) Replace the outside and inside borders of our paver pool deck to add contrast 2) Fix all sunken areas and replace the pavers with holes/chips. 3) Replace the step ladder anchors with new brass anchors. 4) Replace the bullnose coping around the pool and the steps leading up from the lawn. 5) Power wash and put down polymeric sand. The owner Renee of Grey Rock was so nice prior to getting paid. She was responsive, friendly and helpful until the time she said they were done and left. She asked to be paid in cash and each payment was initialed on the contract and paid in full and the contract came with a warranty. Steps 1 and 2 above were done satisfactorily. Step 3 was done satisfactorily but they broke one of our escutcheons which the owner replaced. Since it did not match the other one, the owner said she would pick up another one and bring it over so they matched. They left the step rail loose until then but she never did come back to replace the unmatched one and tighten everything up properly as promised. Step 4 was not done satisfactorily. The owner did not order enough bullnose coping product as we had none left over (Zero). She said we would have extra. We made that a point during the contracting process. There were pieces that should not have been used and some sloppy cutting and concrete work. They should have come to us and said they needed to order extra product so they can proceed properly. A stone place agreed when shown pictures and the manufacturing rep also agreed and pointed out sloppy concrete work where they did not use tape. Tape was used in most places. Step 5 was completed as the weather was turning to rain. My wife only questioned the owner about the sand during the heavy pouring rain which lasted a few days. She said everything is fine and to stop complaining, we are not coming back. I had to put down sand after the rains to fill in where it washed away and vacuum the sand from my pool. She said my prior contractor who did the deck in 2008 did a poor job with the old bullnose and hers was perfection. Bad choice of words. The rep sent us 10 extra pieces for the future. Extra pieces should have been ordered and used during the project. Renee ghosted us and did not honor the warranty by coming over to talk about the job and look at our concerns, I also reached out to Blue River and this was their response. Quoted “ Unfortunately I cannot do anything about it, Rene it’s my boss we are just simple workers and you have a contract with her. So you should contact her! ” We tried. Everything stated in this review is the truth and any response to the contrary would just be 100% nonsense. We sent her text messages, email messages and a phone message to no avail. Sounds like a breach.

Exceeded my expectations. Renee is trustworthy, professional, customer service oriented, and an excellent communicator. I contracted with Renee to install a retaining wall around my driveway and do some much needed foundation work around the house. I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Working outside jobs always puts you at the mercy of the "elements" and even with all the rain we had this summer, Renee got the job done in a timely manner. There were never any excuses, but rather a plan on how she intended to make up the time between jobs- everything was communicated and discussed- I was never left wondering. Renee listened to what I was trying to accomplish, provided suggestions where my knowledge fell short, and worked with me to get what I needed (and wanted) at a fair price. Her team was prompt, courteous, and experienced- very accommodating. Overall, this was a great experience and I look forward to working with them again in the future.

Extensive project. Worked closley with Renee the owner. She designed and streamlined our entire project so we could afford to do all the work at one time. She and her crew arrived on the promised start date, despite the rain. Franklin was excellent to work with and did not rush. Our project was completed in the exact time expected. The best part was they only do one job at a time, so you get to see all phases of construction. No corners were cut and everything was perfect! They worked long hours and kept our yard clean and neat every night. Renee was able to install our plants we bought upon her recommendation and did not charge extra. No nickle and diming! I would highly recommend Grey Rock.

FABULOUS. Renee and Franklin are true professionals. Renee is trustworthy and really came through and exceeded expectations. She followed through on every word and promise and made sure that we were 100% satisfied before completion. She and Franklin were able to take a MESS of a yard and turn it into a truly beautiful sanctuary. It is amazing what they were able to visualize and accomplish with pretty much zero input from my husband and myself. Renee recommended materials that fit just perfectly in our space. Franklin was able to envision solutions to roadblocks that I never in a million years would have been able to think up. Franklin and his crew were CLEAN, non-smoking, responsible, and never left one piece of trash in the yard and always cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. Overall, the work is just beautiful. I would absolutely recommend Grey Rock Hardscapes and the crew and use them again in a heartbeat!

The Grey Rock crew are first-rate. Renee, the owner, is always around and available for questions/changes/what-have-you. Pricing is super, their workmanship is beautiful, and they had no problems dealing with the pain-in-the-butt owner (that would be the husband!). Showed up when and as promised - very easy to deal with and a pleasure to have around.

Perfect start to finish. The owner was "hands on" and very easy to work with. It was a very large project which she had a good understanding of and was able to save us money where she could. Employees very hard working and detail oriented. Job site remained clean at all times. Did everything they said and more, without nickle and diming! They only do one job at a time start to finish, so we were very pleased to see them every day, rain or shine! Would highly recommend for any job! The job was completed in the specified time. I was surprised to see the owner, who came during the rain last week for an inspection, as the work was completed August, 2016.
