STOVE SHOPPE

We visited the Stove Shoppe to have two gas fireplace inserts put into our home. One insert was a zero clearance, which we changed to a gas insert and the second was a chimney fireplace changed to a gas insert. We placed the order and were told that the equipment was in house. We PAID a substantial down payment for the equipment. We had a contractor doing gas lines and other work in our home, so the contractor contacted The Stove Shoppe. The contractor was told that they did not have the equipment...any of it! Our remodel was delayed due to the Stove Shoppe, so additional time was spent and our deadlines were not met. Further, we received the equipment and the Stove Shoppe did not have the remote control for the family room insert and underestimated the cost, thereby causing us another $500!!! When we went to use the insert in the living room, it would not shut off. We had to go to the basement and turn the safety off. The Stove Shoppe came out (weeks later) and ordered a new remote control. We have only used the living room fireplace once and had decided that since we were doing Christmas Eve at our house, we would like the living room fireplace...low and behold...the fireplace did not work!!!!! We immediately called The Stove Shoppe and they closed early for a Christmas party. The next morning I called The Stove Shoppe and was told that someone would be at my house late in the afternoon...low and behold the phone rang and they could not make it! They then said they would come to our house Saturday morning (Christmas Eve), and guess what???? They could not make it again!!! AND, I WAS TOLD TO GET A PLUMBER! This fireplace is under warranty! The problem with the unit not the gas line!!!!!NEVER, NEVER, NEVER would I use The Stove Shoppe again!

They said we could not install our chimney there. Two other companies said we could. After six attempts to contact the company regarding why it could not be done. They would not call me back. Very unprofessional. The quote for their much easier installation was 50% more than what it would have been for a much more difficult installation (going through ceilings and walls and closets and sending it up through the attic). Where they wanted to put it was to go out one wall and outside. Advertising is funny. You hear a company on the radio enough you think they were reputable. The most unprofessional experience I have ever had in my forty years. The guy who came out to do the on site evaluation is not the same guy who does the estimate. I had to talk to the sales guy. I found that a little strange. I am an salesman/estimator myself and I would not quote a job unless I went to the house and saw it. I found this to be very unprofessional as well. They kept my $75.00 without an explanation of why they could not do the job the way we wanted it done.
