Didn't go well. Messy, took double the time it should have taken. When I hired Dan to do the job, his son-in-law was the key member of the crew (crew consisted of Dan and his son and the son-in-law). By the time the job was begun, the son-in-law had been let go and not replaced. I gave them a firm budget but signed no contract...my mistake. I bought all materials and was billed weekly for labor which was totally out of bounds. I think I was billed at $70 per hour. I was billed for hours not worked as well as lunch hours. Initially, Dan had said they would work 8 hour days (the three of them) in order to get in and out quickly; I cannot say that that ever happened...mostly the work days ran 5-6 hrs., and of course, it was just Dan and his son. The work drug on week after week and I shouldered huge labor bills. The bottom line was so far over my budget that I cannot come up with a final figure. I can say it was appx. 30% over my stated figure. The finished product is very good, but the getting it was painful. I cannot recommend this business be hired, and it makes me sad to say this because basically, Dan and his son are nice people.

Dan arrived at the house with the boys ON TIME! They started working diligently on setting up Ladders/Scaffolding to start Stripping the roof of old shingles. After a while of removing shingles they noticed the flashing on the chimney was not done correct, Dan brought to my attention and we had them repair it. They continued to work day after day without any hesitation even when the wind was blowing 20-45mph, cold did not seem to affect their ability to do GREAT work. Midway through the job we asked about a skylight, Dan was more than happy to install the skylight we bought. He was able to stay within target range of the estimate even with the addition of re-flashing and skylight installation. He and his crew where also very diligent on cleaning up to make sure no nails where just laying around! He and the guys where very willing to give us tips on other projects we where working on in the house, very useful tips Dan and the crew are VERY entertaining, hard workers who we miss very much, and can not wait to have them back to do more work for us in the near future!

My roof began to leak. I called Dan and asked him to over and give me an estimate to repair it. As a hurricane was on the way, he came back the next day and covered my roof with tarps to protect my house (at no charge). I also asked him to estimate the cost of windows and a new door. He waited patiently for me to get my financing in place and then he and his crew arrived. They treated my tired little home as if it were a palace or, better still, as if they lived there and wanted the best to be done. They are the finest young men it has ever been my privilege to know. Use them for your work - you will never regret your choice.
