Jonathan Wright

Jonathan Wright's painting was acceptable, but everything else about our experience with him made us regret having done business with him. I would not recommend him for others looking to have painting work done. To begin, he came by and looked at the house a couple of times before we negotiated a price. The price was several thousand dollars more than another company that gave us a bid but got too busy to do the job in the time frame that we needed to have it completed. Our schedule was very tight in the days leading up to our move and Mr. Wright made an appointment to come by and sign the contract with us on a Saturday afternoon. I stayed home and put off other tasks so that I could be available to meet with him and he never showed up. He called later on in the evening and apologized for being "unprofessional" and missing the appointment but explained that he was at a sporting event and had too much to drink. He came by the next day, the day before we were scheduled to move, and brought the contract and we gave him a down payment. My time was too precious to be wasting on multiple appointments over what should have been a simple exchange. He knew that we needed to have the job done quickly and told us that it would take two weeks to complete. However, it wound up taking him almost a month. We made it very clear that we needed to have the house painted quickly so that we could do the other things that needed to be done to put the house on the market, but this didn't seem to matter to him. As soon as we left town, he asked for more money. He sent an email to us and told us that he made a mistake in the contract and that he needed more money to get the job done and insinuated that all work would be delayed until he received another check. Of course we had to send him money because we had no other choice as we were already halfway across the country. He did not show up to work on the house until after 9:00 in the morning and would quit before 5:00 p.m. every day. Instead of being finished within two weeks as he promised, he took about a month to complete the job. He blamed the weather for the delay, but there were a couple of rooms inside that we hired him to paint and, inexplicably, he didn't use the rainy days to do that work. I guess he just stayed home. We haven't seen the work first-hand, but our neighbors say that the house looks good. Overall, we paid too much for this job and the slow pace of work seriously delayed our ability to put our house on the market, wasting precious time in the short Vermont summer.

He did what he said he was going to do in the time he said he was going to do it. Anybody that worked with him was very professional, neat, and quick. They worked with us. We had picked a color that looked different when it went up on the doors. He was willing to work with us since it was not the right color. He was very good. He was always here when he said he would be here. I cannot say enough about him.
