Something serious is going on with Justin Collishaw this summer (2013), and he has just strung me along for two weeks PAST the point where the lawn on my rental property REALLY needed to be mowed. With no real reason given, he just left a message that wasn't going to be able to do it at all. I would not have posted this poor report if he had just been honest, and not put me in the position of now severely damaging the over $1,000 worth of sod we put in, when my husband takes off from work this afternoon and mows it himself. Last summer Justin Collishaw (sole proprietor and only employee of Solid Stripes) did a good job mowing the lawn of our rental house on Hampton Beach. He contacted me this spring and we hired him again for this year. He says he mowed the lawn once in late May (the workers at the house cannot verify that). Then, the grass started getting VERY high, and I called to ask him why he hadn't been back. This was a Thursday, and I told him he needed to get there before Saturday, since we had renters coming in (always phone tag with his answering machine). He responded that he'd try to get there ASAP and the problem was there were too many workmen's cars on the property (there was ONE car parked on the GRAVEL, so this is NOT true). He claimed he had been to the property many times but always there were "too many" cars and tools lying around. I responded immediately that he should just MOW AROUND any cars or "tools" (since the work was INSIDE, no tooIs would be on the lawn)--that was certainly better than not mowing ANY of the lawn! I called again about 4 days later, after our renters had complained about the high grass and mosquitos, getting very worried: the grass was now so high that it was likely to be damaged or KILLED when mowed--making our $1,000 investment in sod worthless. This was Tuesday, and I said if he wasn't there first thing Wednesday (today), he was fired. I just got the call that he had quit--with the same lame excuse that there were too many cars around. I have no idea why he strung me along, and again I got burned by giving him chance after chance.
