I contracted Patrick Murrin of Du-All Remodelling, in November 2013 to do a small remodel of my bathroom. Basically, he was to remove a tub, install a new one and tile around it. This job was to take (by his contract) 3-4 days. The first time he finished, it took him 8 days. As soon as he was done, we noticed multiple problems immediately, such as: Leaking toilet, broken and cracked tiles, all grout lines were uneven and floors were not flat. In several locations, he actually used cracked tiles because he "thought I would never see them". He did admit to all the problems, and tried to resolve some of them. In the end, he made the tiles more crooked, and the bathroom floor tiles cracked and released from the floor tow days after he finished. Also, because of the way he messed up the tiles, we had water pooling and leaking behind the tiles. I have made several attempts to contact this person to reconcile the damage he has caused, and he is now avoiding my calls and emails. Since he was paid in full, I guess he feels that he doesn't need to reply to me anymore. The bottom line is, this person does not have the skills or integrity to do a good professional looking job. He did not even have the right tools to do the job correctly. When I showed him how a tiled threshold was supposed to look, he looked baffled and had no idea how to install (what he did do was extremely wrong, according to the contractors I had to hire to fix his mess). In the end, a 3-4 job (by his estimate) ended up taking seven weeks and was not done right. And caused a lot of damage to my bathroom. I have had to hire a qualified professional to remove all of his work and start over. This is not something I would do again, and warn others when dealing with Du-All or Patrick Murrin.

Response from Du-All Remodeling
Responding to [member name removed] claim that he hired me for a ‘small remodel’ was correct, only until he decided to basically remodel the ‘whole bathroom’. I am there to work for my customer, and if he added things on and we were in agreement, I did all that I had to do and never missed a beat! All during snow storms and all, w were there “and worked according to HIS schedule”. First quoted was an old tub out and a new whirlpool tub in with tiled surround on 3 sides, and that was it. Said an estimate time of Mon. – Fri. for that, allowed for proper dry-time in-between. Being their only bathroom, I was told by [member name removed] that they would be staying at a hotel for a few days. That never happened, and for that matter they walked on the floor when they were told not to, “at my expense”! Someone was always there when we worked, and it always seems that I had a time-frame to work when ‘someone could be there’ and about his wifes schedule. Emails sent to me would prove that, clearly! So [member name removed] should think before he speaks, about how things took longer than planned and the other things he claims while the work “was in progress” and not even done yet. Crooked lines and uneven tiles? If they were that bad, I respectfully accepted and corrected what was necessary. The end result is what matters, yes? And it was very fine. This is why the job took longer, plus working to ‘his’ schedule: • Both walls half-way with tile (no upper border wanted or requested!) • Installed a new toilet and fixing his ‘already leaking flange’. Have pic’s! • Removing a cemented-in sink and discarding. • Assemble and install new sink he provided with no backsplash in mind. • Tiling backsplash around since ‘twice’. He didn’t like the white tile, so I ripped it away from being glued overnight and re-did it. “They” were totally unprepared to what they wanted and the delay was all ‘them’ as I was very accommodating with my time. • Tiled Floor with new sub floor (and would up doing this twice, not because it was totally wrong either. Again! Walked on maybe???) Keep in mind [member name removed] is no small man. Guessing he’s about 6’6” and around 350+ pounds; and walking on my floor I just installed? No, No! That is the reason the two-tiles wide from entry, up until the tub/toilet were not set right. This is not the first bathroom I’ve ever done. All steps were taken correctly and I used cement that takes time to cure. To fix this, I started taking a few tiles up that already had set, and it was pulling up the Duroc cement-board sub floor as well. So? I just took the whole floor I just put down, up again. Including the sub floor. No finger pointing and no extra expense to the homeowner. My time, my materials expenses, and the end-result again was that it came out just fine. I have pictures of all my work. I was to come back and final inspect and final caulk, but [member name removed] told me I was done and “good luck” were his last words to me. And to him, I wish the same! [member name removed] claims that he made in writing were when the job was “in progress” and not upon final completion. When someone is still in the middle of working, it is not right to make accusations until “I am done”. Like telling a painter ‘he missed a spot’ and he’s not done yet. No cracked tiles were ‘anywhere’ when I was done. The toilet was working perfectly and tested numerous times before we left with ‘no leaks’ at all.
