When we went to check out the kennel in Februfary, we were shown a room with an adjoining yard in the bed & breakfast area. This room had a doggy door that did not have a door flap on it to go in and out, which was perfect for our 1 dog who has many fears. He had never gone through a doggy door and I knew would be afraid of it. This room without the flap was perfect for him and the others. We discussed the dogs and told her it would be perfect and we loved the yard. We went back to the office and she wrote down the dates they would be there and she knew we wanted this room for our dogs. When we showed up on the day to drop off our dogs she took us to a room that had a dog flap on the door and denied every showing us a room without a flap on the door and said that the owner is the one we should have scheduled the room with, which she never told us. Then she finally admitted they did have a room without a flap on the door, but a cat was in that room. When we asked if the cat could be moved to the room with the flap and our dogs be put in that room, she said no. We had no choice at that time, but to leave our dogs there because we were catching a flight to California. We also brought all of their food and a brand new box of dog biscuits for our dogs. We discussed how they were to be fed and had it written down in detail on paper that we left with them. She said she did not know if the owner would feed them the way we wanted. We told her we were paying for this service and provided the food so that they would be taken care of the way they were used to at home. One of our dogs does not eat dog food, wet or dry, and we provided his food that he would eat and begged them to make sure they had dry food in their bowls and water at all times, because when we visited the kennel in February, the dogs that were in the room at the time had no water or food in their bowls. I made a point to beg her to make sure they had food and water at all times because our dogs nibble on food and do not eat alot a one time. They also would not allow anyone to come check on our dogs while we were gone. When our friend picked up our dogs because our flight would not have gotten back in time, he said there was no food or water in their bowls. All of the dog biiscuits she said were gone. There were 370+ dog biscuits in the box and I told her to give each dog 1 biscuits 3 times a day. she would have to have given them 41 biscuits a day to be out of them, but I think she was giving them to other dogs at the kennel. We were expecting to have the rest of the biscuits for the rest of the month. 1 box always last us 1 month at home so she was doing something with them that we did not say she could do. Also we brought a brand new bag of dry dog food, which was for 1 of our dogs and would last 1 month at home because she was the only one that would eat it. The other 2 dogs eat dry cat food, which we supplied a new bag. So she must have been dumping dog food in the bowls instead of dry cat food in one and dog food in the other as we asked her to do. Also 1 of our dogs only eats one type of can food at night that has to be opened with a can opener. She said they did not have one, but she would buy one the next morning so they could feed our dog. She did not do this and our dogs food was returned, every can. Our dog did not get any can food at night because he would not eat the other and she knew it, and if the owner fed them, he did not even look at the paper we left for them about feeding each dog. Just the fact that there was no food or water in their bowls the day we were returning to get our dogs, shows they really do not care. They say how they love animals and that is why they run a kennel, but do not really care. People do not know what these people do behind your backs. We had to take our dog to the vet. the next day because he just started shaking for no reason and we did not know what was wrong with him. The vet. said it was anxiety for fear we were going to leave again and take him there. If he had such a wonderful time, why did he have anxiety?
Description of Work: .Failed to follow directions of the feeding and watering of our three dogs. We recommend that no one takes their dogs or cats to Birch Hill Kennels. For those of you who seem happy with them, you do not know what they are or are not doing for your animal behind you back.
