I have used Professional Building Services in the past and was very happy I chose them again. They communicated with me every step of the way and they could not have done more to accommodate us. The job site was always kept clean and the house looks beautiful. Couldn't ask for more! Definitely will call them for any other work I need done!

Professional Building Services turned out to not be very "professional". They were very timely in getting a competitive estimate for the deck, and they built a high quality deck that I am happy with. HOWEVER, they were very difficult to work with and they lied to me on multiple occasions. To summarize the issues, there were multiple communication problems largely because there was a carpenter doing the work, a separate operations manager and then the owner. Depending upon the question I got bounced around between these guys and often had different answers and they did not communicate between each other. There were multiple instances when they did not call or show up when they said they would. Multiple instances of not delivering estimates when they said they would. Worst of all if was flat out lied to on more than one occasion. When the job was 95% done, I was told by the operations manager that the carpenter could come on Monday as scheduled due to an "appointment" that he forgot about, I was then told on Tuesday that he called in sick. When I talked to the carpenter on Wednesday, he told me he was scheduled on another job the past 2 days. So, no appointments and not sick, just lied to. Would have been much happier if they were just honest with me. They also did a very poor job keeping the area clean. I had to chase them to pick the area up. When they sent a different guy out to help clean he himself was astonished by how many nails were left on the ground and how messy the area was. For the front porch steps, they ordered and installed the wrong posts. They offered to replace them, but they made it clear that the removal would be a big project. They were also difficult to deal with in that I had to fight to get them to stick to their estimate. The original estimate stated that the deck would have 10 stairs and a cost per tread. Intentional or not, I don't know, but instead of 10 stairs as included in the estimate, there ended up being 14. I can see being off by 1 or 2 stairs maybe, but 4? They also told me in advance of the project that I would not need any new footings. They then added 2 new footings and tried to charge me $250 each. The contract clearly stated they would advise me in advance of any added costs. They never did this for any of these added costs. Peter was very easy to talk to, but it was a hassle to get him to waive the work that was not in the estimate and never agreed to. He complained about eating a bunch of added costs for work that was done, but really I just kept him to the estimate provided. In spite of all the problems, I still wanted to use them to replace a window. Knowing it would be a pain to get someone out for a small project like that, I took my chances with PMC again. Big mistake. Months after they were suppose to have ordered the window, I found out it was never ordered. They also had to come out 3 times to take measurements. I'm in favor of measure twice, cut once, but I'd think they do that in the same trip. I was finally told that my windows were unique and they did not have the skill set to do them. This after being told by the owner that they have installed thousands of windows. Talked to a window expert, nothing looked unusual about mine other than the interior trim moulding was dropped lower. My own personal theory is that they priced the estimate low and then just didn't want to bother with it. Overall a very disappointing experience. But I do have a very solid deck though and give them credit for the quality work that was done on the build.

We had 29 new construction windows completed by Professional Building Services. They turned out far better than we could have ever expected. Because of the detailed trim work that the crew did, you can hardly tell that they are vinyl windows. They also did a ton of insulation around the outside and inside of the windows, which has been great for holding the heat in our house.

Professional Building Services replaced our farm-style front porch on our house. Even though it is a small porch, the attention to detail was not lacking! They used an indestructible steel frame and high quality Trex material for the porch. The finishing work on it really makes the porch stand out – and the Trex makes it easy to maintain!

One of the best parts of working with Professional Building Services was the crew ? they were super professional, thorough and hard working. They worked in snow, wind and freezing temps!! The finished product is just what we imagined. We are so glad that we decided to go with Hardie Board, it is definitely worth the investment!! And PBS is absolutely the company to go with!

Weather aside - it was a challenging time - all went well and the completed project is as spec'ed and it looks great. Pete is a great communicator - checks in daily and is very easy to get ahold of via email or cell. And things happen when he says they will happen - scheduling is very reliable and most importantly, they know what they are doing and take pride in their work.

They were very good. They did everything they said they will do.

Pete's crew and subcontractors installed a bathroom in our house from scratch. Considering the basement was partially below grade, the job was extra tricky, and involved breaking up the foundation and installing some components below ground. But they did a seamless job of it all. The bathroom now has a stand-up shower, toilet, sink, open-shelved linen closet, flooring tile, and a backsplash wall. While we had some issues w/ the tile guys having to come back a few times to fix a few problem spots, they weren't guys that worked directly for Pete and the issues were very promptly and professionally addressed. I was pleased. The bathroom looks like something out of a magazine! I absolutely love it and couldn't be happier with the end result.

Pete and his team gave us our dream basement. Like any renovation, it was stressful, but the end result was worth it and we would do it again in a heartbeat. They literally added 50% of square footage (650 sq. ft.) to our house and have given us a beautiful 3rd floor of living space. They added 2 large closets for storage, a legal bedroom with a closet, a full bathroom with an open-shelving closet, and a living/media room with surround sound speakers. I couldn't be happier w/ the final product or the finishes that were used. Pete did a ton of behind-the-scenes work to make this renovation as easy for us as possible. Highly recommended for people who want a creme-de-la-creme space in their house!

We found out mid-renovation that the existing window in the bedroom of our basement was not to code. Seeing as most of the basement is below grade and there are only 2 windows, both in rooms, Pete put in a beautiful and huge new window. It looks like a normal double hung window that was turned on its side. Brilliant, if you ask me! It has let SO much light in and makes the bedroom feel huge.

Peter was quick to respond to my email for a request for an estimate on finishing our basement and was on time for our appointment. He walked into our basement and started going over what we wanted to do. When he noticed cracks in our basement floor he recommended that we had them fixed before finishing our basement and gave advice how it should be done. His price estimate was fair and on par with another quote we received on our basement. We plan on contacting him when our basement floor is repaired.

We own 3 building on this block and were all built at the same time. These guys were awesome! Large crew - very professional - great work.

We had Pete and his guys install a fire door in the garage to replace the existing door that did not meet code. Pete?s guys came over and measured, ordered, and installed the door up to code. The door looks and works great!

We hired Pete and his crew for a kitchen and dining room renovation makeover. In order to get the open concept we were looking for, there was a wall that needed to be opened up. It was just our luck that it was a supporting wall and this process would be a little more complex than we had originally thought. Once again, Pete came to the rescue. Through lots of math, he designed a beam that would support the weight of the house, but also allow for the open concept layout we were hoping for. The installation of the beam was completed in 3 parts to ensure that the structure of the house was not jeopardized while the old beam was replaced with the new beam. Pete was very thorough in his explanation of the process and why things were designed and done the way he planned. He always checked to make sure we had no questions and were comfortable with the process and why he was doing it that way. Never did I feel as though I couldn’t ask Pete a question, and he was very communicative throughout the whole process.

We had Pete move our washer and dryer from a first floor closet to the 2nd floor master closet. Not sure we wanted to take this project on at first, we added it a couple weeks into our time with Pete. Without issue, he put his guys on it and set up the appropriate crew members to get the task done. Obviously with a project of this nature, much plumbing and electrical work needed to be done, but Pete scheduled his guys to work around one another to get the job done as soon as possible. We now have laundry right inside our closet and don’t have to walk up and down flights of stairs to get it done!
