As the rug (from Company C) was an "as-is" floor sample we knew it had stains. We didn't realize how noticlable until we got it home. We have 3 kids, 4 cats and 2 dogs and are using the rug under the kitchen table so we knew it would get more stained. After one of our dogs, due to medical issues, urinated on it more times than we could clean up we knew we needed to get it cleaned. Easier said than done! We called the rug company and called the company they recommended. Once they heard "pet stains, wool and backing" they said they wouldn't be comfortable cleaning the rug and wished us luck. After some online research (all saying DON'T DO THIS ON YOUR OWN-SEND IT OUT) I came across an article in the New York Times about rug care. The person they interviewed is an expert in the field and has a website listing a few certified cleaners. We found Top Dog Carpet Cleaning and called. My call was returned within an hour and my rug was picked up a few days later. During the call Dennis was upfront about the pros and cons of cleaning the rug (dog urine, while not as bad as cat urine is still tough to deal with). He came out and looked at the rug, told us what to expect, gave us a very fair price and off he went with the rug. Two weeks later (the promised amount of time) he came back with a bright, clean and nice smelling rug. Does the rug look like new? No. But.... considering this was a factory floor model that was walked on by thousands of dirty shoe wearing people and then came to a house with pets and kids and friends with pets and kids it looks very, very good. I would not hesitate to use this company again.
Description of Work: Cleaned a wool area rug. The rug had been used as a floor sample and had visible stains. It also had food and pet stains (dog) from our own use.
