Response from Norman Builders
We worked with these customers from January through March on 3 separate quotes. They met my HVAC contractor, plumber, and kitchen designer. At the last minute, they sent me a text message backing out of the work. My HVAC contractor and kitchen designer contacted me a week later to inform me that these customers tried to hire them without me to save money. When I confronted the customers, they retaliated with this review out of spite.

Description of Work: They never contacted me back after i tried to call them a few times. Unfortunately With that said they could at least give me a courtesy call. Let me know they got the calls but couldn't do the job, etc. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Professionalism and courtesy is the first thing you get when doing business with some one. If they can't offer something so simple and free like respect to a customer then i can only guess the rest of the business is tainted as well. Never would i recommend this company to anyone.

Apologies if I missed your messages, but there is no record of your name in my voicemails from this time frame. It is possible the message was missed. I was receiving 10-20 voicemails per week during this time period and always make it a point to call everyone back regardless if we could quote the work. Hopefully you found a reputable contractor to work on your projects.

Norman Properties and Development was our top choice among three contractors we interviewed (including our past preferred general contractor) for a new 12' X 32' deck and screen room. We had a basic design in mind, which Ryan and Dale improved upon and fine-tuned for us. They advised us on materials as well, and we really feel that allowed for the most bang for our buck. Our calls were always promptly returned which made for much less frustration, especially when we had questions. We were extremely impressed with the quality of the workmanship and their attention to detail. The work area was always neatly kept. They were flexible and adaptable when we had additional unplanned work that needed to be completed before they could proceed with the scheduled project. We highly recommend Norman Properties and would most certainly contract with them for future projects.
Description of Work: We added a 12X32 deck, partially roofed and screened. Material used was Azek Decking. Also included stairs down to the backyard. Installed 2 skylights. Partial vinyl residing of house. Installed ceiling fan, lighting and all electrical.

Norman properties came when they said they would for the whole project. All the sub-contractors were professional and on-time. All the work was done as well or better than we expected. All of the additional work was quoted and performed in a very timely manner.
Description of Work: Norman Properties expanded an existing room. As the job progressed we also had them replace an addional window, do addional cedar siding not in the original contract and install hardwood flooring in an addtional room.

We appreciated the team's attention to details and flexibility throughout the duration of the project. At the one point of the project when the screen porch was being planned, there was a large Oak tree where the best option was to remove it. Ryan, the owner/manager of Norman Properties, took the time to locate a couple of bids and was able to get several trees skillfully removed at a lower cost. While this work was not originally within the scope of the project, Ryan was willing to subcontract this work instead of deferring it to us to manage. The difficulty for us was that the work being performed was at such a high quality level there was not much room to compromise on the needed variations to the project. We felt that Ryan kept to a fair pricing when additional material and labor was warranted. We are extremely happy and very satisfied with the work. In fact, both the front porch and rear screen room and deck look even better than we originally imagined.
Description of Work: The work performed was an addition of a front porch, re-built of a back deck and upper deck, the addition of a screened-porch with stairs, replacement of two garage doors with openers, replacement of two entry doors in the garage. Front side of the house was stripped of siding, door, and old windows were removed. A Veranda was added with custom columns. New thermal windows were installed. A new Front door was also installed. A hip-style roof was constructed over the Veranda. All decking and trim material was Azek for low maintenance and resistant to weather and insects. Recessed lighting was also installed. New siding installed and painted, The back deck was rebuilt where 2/3rds of it had some rotted floor joists replaced and then new pressure treated decking screwed to the joists. On the remaining 1/3rd, a screened-porch was built with stairs to the backyard. Azek material was used for the flooring, stairs, and trim for the screen porch was used. The railing system used was also Azek. The screening was floor to ceiling. There was also recessed lighting as well as an outlet installed. In additional, there were two (2) large sliding glass doors replaced on this deck level. Siding was installed for the screen room and painted. The upper deck was stripped down to joists and new Azek decking with rail system installed. Also, a glass sliding door was also replaced. The original garage and entry doors were replaced. Also, new garage door openers were installed.

Norman Properties recently completed a full kitchen remodel in our home and we are thrilled with the results. The entire process from the estimate to completion was well planned and amazingly stress-free. The workmanship on all trades was outstanding. Ryan's father Dale is a master carpenter who paid the utmost attention to every detail and the results showed this level of craftsmanship and care. The electrical, plumbing, flooring and painting were also completed at a high level of professionalism. All of the work was completed on time and on budget. Our new kitchen and hardwood flooring looks spectacular. I would most definitely recommend Norman Properties. Thank you Ryan and your team for a job very well done. Doug and Nancy Ross, Kingston, NH

Norman Properties and Development did a fantastic job with our home addition project. From beginning to end, their attention to quality, detail, and superior workmanship produced a creation that's the envy of the neighborhood. The professionalism and dedication displayed on a daily basis made this project an extremely positive experience for my family. Ryan Norman, the owner of Norman Properties, was great to work with. His effective communication skills helped to keep us updated on a regular basis and stayed on top of any concerns or questions we had throughout the project. The project was completed on time and on budget. Even the sub-contractors working on the addition - the excavators, carpenters/framers, electricians, HVAC, plasterers, painters, and landscapers were all highly professional and dedicated to their craft. Their workmanship was first rate. Contracting with Norman Properties was the smartest thing I've done in a long time. I enthusiastically recommend Norman Properties and Development to anyone considering a home construction project. You'll be glad you did. Don Zabriskie - Newburyport MA
Description of Work: In the spring of 2011 we contracted with Norman Properties and Development for the purpose of building a 2,000 sq. ft.two-story addition to an existing antique colonial home built in 1736. The addition consists of a central hallway entry area with closet, leading to the first floor living space which consists of a large kitchen with shaker style maple cabinets, surrounding a granite island and granite countertops which are accented by decorative lighting fixtures, which then in turn leads into a spacious family room area with a mantle and fireplace. This area is further supported by four windows and a set of french doors - all by Marvin Windows. A full bathroom was also constructed on the first level adjacent to the hallway entry area. Hardwood flooring was installed throughout in the livingroom and kitchen, whereas tile was installed in the hallway and bathroom. An access door to the old house was also created. The second level consists of a large master bedroom with a massive walk-in closet. The bedroom has four large Marvin windows, hardwood flooring, and overhead fan and lighting fixture. Off of the hallway, which also has a linen closet, is a full sized tiled laundry room with window and another full bathroom outfitted with a tiled walk-in shower and more closet space. Before the foundation could be poured to support the addition, three large maple trees had to be removed, along with the removal of an old three-season porch. Norman properties was especially careful and meticulous when excavating near the fieldstone foundation of the old house, so as to not disrupt anything. Also, it should be noted that the interior has central air conditioning divided into two zones (upper and lower levels)- which also applies to the heating as well. Additionally, the entire addition was wired to accommodate easy cable and phone access. Exterior-wise, the addition was covered with cedar clapboards and painted with a stain product consistent with the original house. There are three access doors which are all accentuated with transom window features and supported by full length granite steps leading in. The main entrance is further supported by paver bricks in an area approximately 20 x 8 ft.
