Rideau's Flooring Sales and Installation

We purchased pre finished hardwood and carpet. The Rideau's were very attentive during the sales process and the installers were on time for installation. The carpet installation was great....Once the hardwood was completed we were unable to inspect because the floors were covered in wood chips from the cutting process and dust from our construction. Mr Rideau instructed the installers to forgo cleanup because we were still finishing walls. They layed cardboard over the floor debris and declared the job complete. We pulled up cardboard and spent several hours cleaning the floor. When we complained the owner became belligerent, argumentative and stated we were inexperienced and usually the general contracter cleaned up the mess. We asked for a second inspection after discovering some installation issues and defects in the wood. Mike Rideau stated this was the nature of wood and spent our meeting 'talking over' our concerns/comments, taking no reponsibility for most of the issues and agreeing to reimburse for repair of 1 installation issue out of 7 we showed him. The others he suggested could be resolved if we filled in with dark caulking...or remedied by installing cardboard behind the trim to hide the floor/wall gaps or were in his opinion the 'nature' of the product. His lack of professionalism included sharing too much personal information about his recent trials and tribulations, finger pointing, general whining and discounting us. His visit was extremely stressful and left us feeling frustrated and taken advantage of. We will never recommend or do business with this company again.
