It generally went well. Mike Frissora at Design Kitchens was always polite, helpful and prompt in responding to any concerns I had. Comparing costs among contractors was nearly impossible as each contractor provided different products and services and all costs depended on my choices of things which doesn't happen until you've already chosen a contractor and a plan. All contractors who bid gave me an overall very general guestimate and then agreed that prices would go up or down depending on my choices. In the end, I went with Design Kitchens because a friend's sister had used them and was pleased with the price and the work. If I had it to do again, I would be clearer about what was going to be done. The lighting, for example is a problem because all of the fixtures are on the half of the kitchen with the fridge and sink, etc. The other half of the kitchen has no lighting at all. The cabinet installers neglected to remind the electrician that the phone jack had to be reconnected as it was in the base of the old cabinet. So right now, no phone in the kitchen. One of my "must haves" was a center island that was big enough to fit my recycling bin--I gave them dimensions, etc. Not only was the island too small for the bin, but the need for an electric outlet cut even more into the available space. By the time I realized this, the island had already been ordered and installed and would have cost extra to redo it. The carpenters had taken down the chair railings in the kitchen and just left them in the basement. I had to contact Steve and have carpenters return to put railing back up and then was charged $100 for the service--not a lot of money, but it was their error in the first place. However, the workmen cleaned up the room every day, the cabinets are very nice, the hardwood floor is fabulous and beautifully done, all of the garbage was hauled away promptly including the enormous task of getting rid of all the brick from a whole wall.Everyone was polite, helpful and there when they were supposed to be. Steve was particularly helpful in agreeing to do some tasks unrelated to original quote: fixed siding on outside window, put in all new door knobs and locks, etc. Given the horror stories I've heard about contractors, I would say overall the job was well done.

They did well; however, they had a general contractor who was horrible. They did a beautiful job on the cabinets. They were very good. They picked out things that were not needed to be done in the kitchen and added things that were needed. There were a lot of little details which I did not know you could do. The cabinets were custom cabinets but the person who installed them was a good craftsman and it was kind of fun to watch how he worked. They did a nice job. Their pricing was a little high. The kitchen looks so nice because of the work they did. The cabinets were really good. We got out appraised afterwards and the person who did the appraisal said that since the cabinets were custom made we will get more points for that. They are not perfect, but they are fine. They did a fine job except for one spot.

They were very professional and they kept their pricing to the quote although we don't remember as to how much we paid. Their price was relatively high. Their quality of work was good. We have used them ten years ago for remodeling our kitchen.

I wouldn't know. Nothing every happened. I found another vendor to do the work.

The project went very smoothly. Our designer helped us through the process. There are so many decisions to make that it can be overwhelming. It was just nice to have a professional opinion available for all the choices we had to make. Appliances, flooring, lighting, sinks, faucets, and all of the other stuff.
