Work performed is satisfactory-very good. Plumber asked several personal questions which made me uncomfortable. He wouldn’t allow for me to see receipts for parts nor go to Home Depot to get them. He wouldn’t let me use coupon from his website unless I paid cash/check. Ended up costing a small fortune ($600!) for small issues. That would have been okay without the awkward conversations. Also- and this is a personal thing- he didn’t like my dog going anywhere near him. Afraid of his drool- I mean, he’s a plumber, for goodness’ sake.

Ken was very professional and in regular contact from when I placed the first call to set up an appointment until the service was complete. Initially we kept missing each other on the phone, but he was very good about calling me back as soon as he could instead of me having to keep calling. On the day of service he was efficient and explained what he did and was very informative about the situation. His prices were reasonable especially compared to other plumbers we've had to use. We will definitely call him back if we have any future plumbing issues.

Contacted Ken. He was very honest and professional. Scheduled a visit about 1 week in advance. He called me the day of the appointment and confirmed which is nice, He showed up right on time. After looking at the sink he made a recommendation for a new sink because we might damage the hardware during the fix. Ken was very honest and didn't waste a lot of time trying a repair that he felt would not work. And ultimately he did not charge me for the visit. I need to figure out what to do next but I would definitely work with Ken again.

When I removed the existing 1 piece fiberglass tub/shower and saw the existing plumbing exposed, I knew it required a plumber and not a DIY'er, however competent. First I called one of the large, very well know franchises, which dispatched a van within minutes to examine the job and the very difficult problems I saw with routing the new supply and waste for the new steel tub/shower. The rep took a 30 second look at the job, said "yeah, that's gonna be difficult" and wrote up a quote that I thought was astronomical, without any explanation of how they would handle any of the issues. With a great deal of frustration after trying 3 additional plumbers with no return calls, I was fortunate to reach Ken at Artisan who offered to come by and take a look at the issues. He arrived within a couple of hours and we discussed the various difficulties with the plumbing. He listened to all my concerns, and came up with a step by step approach to addressing them, and explained each possible solution, both with the new plumbing and installing the new tub. Long story short, Ken and his assistant did what he said they would do, when they said they would do it. There were no "surprises", and when plan A was less than optimal, they always had a plan B and C. Their attention to keeping the scope of the work within the confines of the bathroom and not allowing it to spread into adjoining finished areas with resulting damage to them really was appreciated. In the end, the job proved to be as difficult as feared, but they never flagged in their determination, and the price was well worth it and considerably MUCH more reasonable than the huge plumbing franchise. And they stood behind their work with an honesty and professionalism that is hard to find. Being a small business owner myself, I find that someone you can trust to be of paramount importance. My own customers value that, and so do I when I am on the "other side of the counter". I would definitely recommend Ken, and will always keep him at the top of my "go to" list of people.

My shout out to Ken and Brian on a job well done. Last night I literally had rain coming out of the ceiling on my first floor all the way to into the basement from a broken pipe "somewhere" on my second floor. I called them after 5 or 6 other companies, a few that have done work for me in the past, because I figured with all the good reviews on Angie's list I'd never get them in today. I finally called him with the situation after being told by others" maybe Monday/Tuesday" and "can't do it today", mentioned that I lived in Merrimack, and after he stated he likes taking care of the locals and was here at 1:30. Had the problem fixed in 2 hours (broken boiler pipe in a crawl space) and at a very reasonable price for a nice sunny summer day, let alone an ice cold day with other calls stacked up where the expectations are I'm going to overpay or freeze. Kudos Ken and Brian. You take care of the locals, hopefully the local will take care of you. You are now my go-to guys!

Faucets were installed professionally and look great. There was a problem with the kitchen sink. The original contractor, that built my home, didn't leave enough pipe to cut and reinstall a new drain. Ken was able to tap out the original pipe and save me a much more expensive repair bill. I highly recommend Ken and Artisan Plumbing.

Ken was very responsive. It was installed yesterday. So far, so good. He found an area where the pipe that leads to the outside had a gap that had been there for years because of the poor workmanship of the last company that installed our previous hot water heater 7 years ago. My husband remarked about how neat and clean they left the work area.

Tenant accepted the faucet they installed so I cannot fault them. I had a two handle faucet and they replaced it with a single lever. Not very attractive but the repair itself was fine.

It took about four days-they even came in a foot of snow. Dan pulled permit. Extremely happy with them. Took five hours to pull the old tank out. I would definitely call them again. Dan even found a leaking valve by my washer which I had him fix. They were punctual and professional. Excellent communication throughout the process. It was a difficult job And could not be happier.
Description of Work: I live in an old home. The 40 gallon water heater was leaking both water and propane. It is in a closet in the bathroom. Plummers were great. Tried to get a replacement on a Saturday morning. It was a direct vent water heater which are uncommon now. Decided to go with tankless Rennai on the replacement. The scope of work was very involved. Dan Pierce, the plummer, always kept me in the loop.

I called Ken on a Friday afternoon because my kitchen faucet burst; as luck would have it, he was able to take care of installing a new one the same day. It took an hour. He did not charge me for an emergency call. I paid for an hour of labor plus minor parts that I approved and which he had on his truck, no surprises or hidden fees. He and Rich were very nice. I am grateful I didn't have to spend the weekend with a kitchen full of dirty dishes or watch my husband try to do it without the proper tools.

mr. pierce arrived at our house on time with his assistant Scott. they came in and after reviewing the problem, went out of the house and to their truck and came back in again a few times, presumably getting parts. they went to work and replaced the existing pvc trap and pipe. after they did the work, pierce told me that the sink drain also needed to be replaced. i wasn't sure what this had to do with the leakage problem. i don't remember his exact words, but seem to recall some reassurance that it was necessary to complement the new pipe. i ok'd the work. a couple of days ater the job, we noticed that a) the small blue bucket used to catch the water from the leak, (a very useful sized one), and b) the elbow/plastic trap and straight threaded zinc coated pipe he'd replaced were not here. we didn't approve the discarding of the trap and pipe. the bucket was returned i n a couple of days (and after a few phone calls). when we called him about the trap/pipe, he first said he didn't have them, that he threw them out, and offered to send us a $20 check to cover the loss. (he'd never asked if we wanted to keep the old parts). then, later he said he found the parts. he didn't offer to send them to us or bring them to us, just said "i'll keep them for 90 days. you can come and get them." (he's located in manchester, and we're located in nashua). of course all of this involved a few more phone calls. what's most bothersome about all of this is his attitude, not making the extra effort, not quite right, and taking advantage of my lack of knowledge of plumbing. the sink's been working well - no leaks; however, we've been wondering why/whether the drain really needed to be replaced. if you're looking for a plumber don't choose someone just because he's the first to answer your call. DON'T choose this guy.

Response from Artisan Plumbing & Heating
on 7/8 we arrived at [Member Name]`s home and after looking at the problem we explained to her and showed her that the sink pop up drain was rotted and her p trap which was leaking needed to be replaced, she agreed. She asked for a fixed price and so we gave her a fixed price of 200.00. 1.5 hrs labor @ 110 hr,plus $35 in parts. We completed the job ,she thanked us and we left. The next day she called and let us know we had accidentally removed her small bucket when we cleaned up.We returned it the next day.A week later she called asking for her rotted parts back or a $20 dollar refund. We located her parts(in the trash) and let her know she could pick them up at her convenience. It is standard practice to remove old parts and dispose of them in a sanitary matter. It is part of the service.
