Response from Gary Jackson Heating Services
On the first visit we repaired a couple of leaks. One leak initially was the only one that was visible, once the manifold was moved to make the repairs the other leaks appeared so it was evident that we needed more time and would need to return to do more repairs/replace gaskets. All of the leaks were pre-existing due to a lack of proper maintenance to the unit. The leaks had been ongoing for a while but some had rusted over and re-sealed themselves but still needed to be repaired properly. We did not cause any leaks, we did not create the leaks by anything we did. The owner chose to not have us come back out to make all of the necessary repairs. If we had done anything to cause the leaks, we would have repaired them at no charge. We kept the owner informed as to what was going on, explaining to them what was causing the leaks and when we left the property, nothing was leaking. A lack of proper maintenance is a big part of the problem with this unit. We came out for a service call, he called that day and we responded that day. When he called to say there was another leak (a new leak as it was not leaking when we left), we told him we'd be back out within a few days and he was fine with this, however his wife called and wanted us out there immediately, which we were there within 1-2 hours of her calling us on that day for the second trip. The customer is expecting us to not charge them for repairs made that were not caused by us, we did everything in a timely and professional manner.
