Modern Pest Services - Manchester

I've used Modern Pest several times in the past, and I've always had great experiences with them. In Brighton, they were able to take care of a mouse/rat problem quickly and efficiently, and also mitigated a nasty termite issue. In Mansfield, they were successful in removing chipmunks from in between unit walls in a condo building and also were able to rid the building of carpenter ants. They've been a pleasure to work with!

As it is a long process to remove pests and keep my home safe, it is premature to fully grade my service now. Perhaps in the realm of pest removal, Angie's list should consider a longer interval before assessments are done. I have been satisfied thus far, and my situation has not worsened. I also appreciated the professionalism of the Modern agent assigned to me and their follow up phone call.

I'm very happy with Modern Pest Services overall. The reason I gave them an overall "B" is their price - it's $35 a month which I think is a bit expensive. However, I'm pleased with their service and I like having someone I can call with questions about various items. Tom is a star - knowledgeable, polite, and thorough.

They are easy to recommend to others.

Arrived on time. Very thorough and detailed inspection and application of pesticide. Very pleasant. Provided follow up visit and inspection by supv. for unknown type of insect. Checked w/state entomologist. Reasonable time frame. Will be here tomorrow for application of additional pestides at no additional cost. Purchased year long contract.

They come whenever you want them, 24 hours a day.

I called Modern Pest Services based on the reviews I read here. They were very informative on the phone and were able to come out to the house in 2 days to address my carpenter ant problem. Another reason I chose them is for their environmental awareness, unlike most pest control places who spray God knows what and don't know about the products they are using. Jeff, the guy who was sent to my house was very knowledgeable and kind. He was prompt and efficient with his time, very conscious of cleaning up after himself and respectful of my home. This company may be more expensive than other companies, but I feel their attention to detail and problems at hand are worth it. Plus, with carpenter ants, you have to keep up for 2-3 years to completely erase their pheromone trails. So, I did sign up for a year of quarterly treatments and will likely renew for 2-3 years. Obviously, it's only been a few days, but I have not seen one ant and I really wanted to leave a comment about how easy and respectful the process so far has been. I would absolutely recommend this company to others.

They come when they say they are going to come. They fix the problem and guarantee their work. It's a once-a-year deal. I have two different places, and they send different people. The company does good work.

The service was too expensive and I had to pay for a whole year to get quarterly service. They put boxes out to see what bugs crawled inside. I will not use them again in the future.

We have used them for 10 years. Their punctuality is perfect. They warranty the work also. They will come back and do it again if you see any ants.

They are fantastic. They are very responsive, and answer any questions we have. They are also very quick to work on any problems we have.

The job did not go well. They convinced me the problem was what it wasn't and I had to correct it myself. Some of the stuff they did for ants and stuff was great. They said I had mice in my attic and I told them it was squirrels so they said okay we'll treat you for all these things but everything except squirrels. I called them back and said I still have the squirrels; I have been shooting them outside and the problem went away after I was shooting them. I told them to come and take their stuff as I did not want them anymore. The quality of work was good. I will not use him again.

I called Modern Pest based on positive reviews here. It is not a "small company." I was shuttled to various customer service reps till I got someone local to Brunswick to talk to about my problem. I just wanted to schedule someone to come out and do an inspection for a possible bug problem, but the rep pushed me into having someone come treat right away for $169 + $30+/month. I got caught up in the pitch and scheduled it and gave my cc #. I canceled the next day, but my cc was charged right away. They did refund me a few days later on their own -- but honestly, that's bad form to charge when no one even came over!

We had infestation of powder post beetles. The price was lower than what was quoted. The inspector was very thorough. When he returned with his boss to perform the spraying for the bugs, both of them did a great and competent job. The only hangup was that they said the inspector was going to come within a 4 hour timeframe on a particular day. They called beforehand and said that person wasn't able to arrive then and rescheduled me for the next week, so there was a delay in the process. Overall, I am satisfied with their services.

They do something different each quarter depending on the time of the year. They either look at the interior or exterior for signs of pests. They always do applications on the perimeter of the house and they use non toxic products. It is usually one person who comes out from the company and he is very knowledgeable. He comes up with things that I haven’t thought of and he answers in detail for all my questions. I like that their recommendations are very cost conscious and they give me all different options.

They came to our rescue when we first discovered mice in our kitchen and basement two weeks after we moved in. At first I thought that the initial fee and then then $35 monthly charge was steep, but now I realize that they are worth every penny. They come to our place at the drop of a hat - whether it's the mice returning, or ants, or spiders, or bees... It's really worth the money! They did get rid of our mice just after the first visit and they come back for quarterly check ups.

There are a couple of things that I didn't like about them. They had competition and I don't know why we used them. We saw their advertisement and called them. It is supposed to be a monthly service but I've only seen them twice in six months. I paid it all in advance and they say because it's winter they can't get in. They didn't want me to pay with a check. He was a nice enough guy. They come quarterly unless you see things. I've called them and told them that we do have things but I haven't seen anyone. My husband gets the flyswatter out. We have lady bugs and flies. The company is supposed to have a good reputation and they've been in business for many years. I don't think they are accommodating. I hardly see them.

I called them first thing on a Monday morning after discovering mouse droppings in our kitchen on Sunday. They came the same day to set up traps and bait. There was some confusion about the price, but one call to the office solved that problem.

They ware little booties to protect the carpet, are very conscientious, clean, and reasonable. They are also very thorough in their work.

They are a small, family run company. They are local and they understand carpenter ants. They have appropriate knowledge for the region.
