Went well! The electricians were very clean, no damange to property. They did the job well and were very friendly.... they even took the time to point out an unrelated problem and offer solution to it (wrong wire gauge going to generator... potential fire hazard! Not part of the job scope but definitely glad he mentioned it!) Steve Moore is a good guy and willing to work with his customers. I was very impressed with the worksmanship and what these guys can do without needing to rip open walls and ceilings!
Description of Work: Following a water damage issue, I needed recessed lights torn out and replaced. Ceiling fans removed, hanging lights, and wall sconces removed. I needed old wiring from the 50s ripped out and new wiring run to bring the house up to code. This was an involved process which included the guys drilling through my floors, going into crawl spaces, and fishing wiring above a finished basement ceiling. The crew was very clean, no damange to property. They did the job well and were very friendly. Steve Moore is a good guy and willing to work with his customers. I was very impressed with the worksmanship and what these guys can do without needing to rip open walls and ceilings!

First of all, this is a glowing review. If you don't want to read through the details, just know that these guys are great! Steve and his team (Ray, Tom, Wayne, and another I can't remember) were all very professional, quick, efficient, and got straight to the point. I'm very happy with the services and would highly recommend Granite State Electric. I have had a total of 4 house calls with Granite State Electric. The first time the work wasn't completely completed in one day, so we had to reschedule for a few days later. Luckily (for me) there was a cancellation the next day, and Tom came back out to finish what we needed. When we went to install the bathroom vanity lights (the electricians added the light boxes and we were going to finish them) we had an issue with our master bathroom. We also had a toe kick heater installed, but the power wasn't reaching the box. We call Steve back and he sent Ray out to troubleshoot for us. He spent several hours trying to pinpoint what the problem was, and in the end it was homeowner error. Ray was gracious enough to show us the problems and we were very happy in the end. The last house call was for a dining room chandelier that was throwing the breaker every time we turned on the switch. Rewiring of the dining room was one of the first house calls that the team had performed, so I contacted Steve and he sent Ray back out to fix our issue. It took him less that 20 minutes, and our chandelier was working. Having just moved to New Hampshire, I am very satisfied with finding a quality electrician that I can count on when I am unable to figure out the problem.
Description of Work: Rewired several outlets that were incorrectly wired by previous home owner, install 5 bathroom vanity light bars, install 5 recessed lights, and much more.

Ray was fantastic from the time he arrived until he left. Being a curious person I observed the work being done and engaged in pleasant conversation. He was respectful of the floor and furnishings, taking care not to mark or scratch surfaces. Ray is a knowledgable professional whom I would hire again without hesitation.

All went incredibly well. Ray came over and fixed my exterior light fixture. He was extremely knowledgeable and was able to diagnose the problem and also provide solutions. I have a wonderful working exterior light! I had him also address some additional exterior light fixtures where I couldn't remove the glass enclosures. He addressed the problems and once again fixed the issue. He was very confident and knowledgeable! I can honestly say that they have become my new electricians!

Steve was extremely responsive and made himself available to me, even during off hours. I would call expecting to leave a voicemail and he'd pick up the phone. He was quick, efficient, and the price was competitive. There was some confusing pieces because it's for a house under a purchase and sales and he was very flexible to make it work.

Facts: Scheduled through Angie's List and called business. Owner stated he got my email through Angie's list and saw my call, got back to me ASAP. Fast response time. Able to squeeze us in, in 2 days and would call morning of with time they would be out. Mentioned while he was here we had a few little things for him to look at as well. Service date: No phone call, service tech showed up at about 8:20 am. Due to no follow through on phone call pre-visit asked him to wait 10 minutes while I got kids and husband out of bed and I got dressed. Confirmed $150 quote and Angie's List advertised 10% discount, and 1 outlet switch combo we needed looked at. Tech opened fan box we bought, determined we were missing 18 in down pipe we needed. We explained the way the box read it came with down pipe. He disagreed with interpretation of the box. HIs "boss" called him. They conferred. Right away my husband who had run to Lowes to get the missing part, was called by "owner" (don't know if this was the same person), caller sternly speaking and chastising my husband for missing part, asking for discount, causing company to lose money due to these requests. Husband referred to me. Asked tech about issue. He apologized, stated they expect customer to know what's needed. They don't make habit of educating or suggesting to customer what's needed ahead of time. He stated "boss" upset about Angie's List discount as this was not mentioned previously. However, "boss" did confirm with me that he got Angie's List email upon first contact by phone. Advised tech to go ahead and replace fan but not to worry about additional work. Fan replaced, tech paid by check. $135 with Angie's List discount Opinion of the service provider company: It is my opinion that this company has very poor customer service skills, mainly from the administrative level. This is evident by the facts that they did not follow through with pre-phone call that they themselves offered. They complained about Angie's List discount offered on their own listing on Angie's List, and actually called my husband to chew him out for missing a part and asking for said discount. Owner confirmed he got my Angie's List email upon first contact so he was aware of discount. Clearly we called in a professional for this replacement because they are just that, an experienced professional. We did our due diligence as a inexperienced customer to make sure we had the appropriate materials present. The box misrepresented what was required and as a experienced professional they should recognized they are working with an inexperienced customer. They should have better communication in explaining their expectations of the visit and what customer should have on hand. They should not be getting irate with customers. We are pretty easy going people, our requests were simple and we were not being difficult. I don't feel like we deserved this negative treatment or experience. I will not recommend this provider based on our poor experience with them. .

Response from Granite State Electricians Plus
Customer called to install ceiling fan supplied by them. Customer stated that her husband would be home all day. It is possible that she requested a phone call before arrival. If she did and we failed to do so, we truly apologize. All of our appointments are between 8am and 8:30am. Very rarely do we schedule later than that unless customer requests such. When we arrived, down rod for fan was not there. We offered this service to the customer at a very reasonable price. We did expect that if the customer were supplying the fan that they would surely have the proper parts. I think it very unreasonable to give our company such a negative rating based on the circumstances.

Absolutely fantastic! I can't say enough good things about them. I got dropped by another electrical company (probably for the better)- they worked me into their booked schedule and were out here the next day to do the job. They quoted me higher- I accepted the job, the final cost was lower than anticipated.

Steve and his team were excellent and dealt professionally with all the unknowns inherit on a job of this scale. They came back numerous times over the course of several weeks to make sure everything was right and they did what they said they would do. Steve and his team seem to have a great deal of integrity, seem to care a lot about the work they do, and perform services at a fair price. They performed really good work and were a pleasure to work with; I would recommend them to anyone in need of electrical services.

In no time at all, Ray had figured out that the trouble was at the box where the lightswitch was and he repaired it. Since that took no time at all, he asked me if there was anything else I needed help with while he was there. I had purchased a new dimmer switch for my dining room but hadn't gotten around to swapping it out yet. I asked if he could take care of that for me and he said he'd be happy to do it. Overall, I was very pleased with the service. Although he hadn't arrived at 7 AM which was the time we had arranged, he called at exactly 7 AM to say he was running a few minutes behind. There was road construction going on in the area at the time and his GPS didn't do a very good job of rerouting him to my home so I had no problem with the delay and was pleasantly surprised at his call to let me know. I would definitely use this company again as I found everyone I spoke to to be friendly and professional.

I called Granite State Electricians in a panic after discovering a bunch of power lines with no slack blocking installation of a 100" in-ceiling home theater projector screen. Chuck from GSEP arrived punctually and ready to work at the agreed upon time and got right to surveying the situation. There were a few ways to resolve the issue of four 20A and one 30A power lines directly in the way of the screen installation. After consulting with Steve (boss), he decided to go with UL-listed AMP-connects to extended the four 20A lines and install two accessible boxes with panels in the ceiling to handle the reroute of the 30A line. Progress was slow, but steady, and after 6.5 hours, the job was complete and functional. During the whole installation, Chuck was pleasant, friendly, professional, and willing to explain the options available. My only minor complaint is that he seemed to take his time doing the work, especially compared to two other contractors working at the same time. I asked Steve about this and he explained that working around other contractors can slow down progress, and electrical work always takes longer than initially expected. These are reasonable explanations, but my casual observation as the morning extended to mid-afternoon was that Chuck took his time, almost to a fault, to get the job completed. I'm still extremely grateful that Granite State Electricians were able to immediately respond to my dire need, and will use them again for any one of a number of services they provide.

Granite State Electricians Plus did an excellent job! The electricians installed a new breaker panel and special circuits with twist lock and quad outlets for my workshop, installed a GFCI breaker for an outlet in one of my bathrooms and connected the outlets in my kitchen to a GFCI outlet as well. They also converted my three-prong dryer plug to four prong and fixed an open wire in my garage. They were professional, efficient and everything works great :-)

How do I say that it just couldn't have been a better experience all the way around. Steve offered a very competitive price, said what he was going to do and when he was going to do it, and delivered every respect in a professional, timely, and courteous manner. Let's start right off with what you really want to know. Did they do a good job, was the price acceptable and would you hire them again? The answer to all of these questions is unequivocally yes. They are straight shooters that will take the time to explain what you need and even more importantly, what you don't need. This was a large job, on an old house (1950) that was a wiring nightmare. They handled it all with only a few minor issues, which not only did they take care of but offered a day's labor at no charge to make up for it. They are excellent with communication and follow up and you're dealing with the owners of the company both in managing the job and onsite actually doing the work as well as having a top notch team. Because the original wiring was such a mess some unforeseen complications came up to which they offered excellent solutions. I'm a bit of a geek and know electronics well and they put up with my constant inquiries of why things were being done a certain way and offered clear explanations in each case. They were also willing to work with me and allowed me to handle any demolition, patching and pulling of exposed dead wiring, which freed them up to focus on the electrical tasks and saved me some significant dollars. Scheduling was difficult at times because they have a small crew and were juggling multiple jobs. While this was somewhat frustrating we took it in stride because the communication from them was always great and we were always kept informed of when they'd be onsite and when they could not be. We also work from home and they went out of their way to accommodate that and keep power to our office regardless of the work being done either in that room or other areas of the house. In all our total downtime without power during the entire project was about one hour. To sum up all I can say is that I highly recommend Granite State Electricians Plus and will hire them again for any future electrical needs.
Description of Work: Upgrade service panels from the old fuse boxes to breakers with 200A service in the main house and 100A service in the apartment. Complete rewire of the first floor of the main house with dedicated circuits added for a/c units in each room and all outlets and switches rewired and upgraded. New circuits run to the 2nd floor, basement, laundry room and the garage.

Steve was very professional in all our contacts. He was prompt in coming for our meeting and was good with follow up contacts. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Steve provided us with an estimate on a whole house generator. He was very helpful with information on types of generators and what they would provide for us in a power emergency. He was generous with his time leading up to our decision on a contractor to go with. His estimate was competitive with others we obtained. It was a hard choice to make among several good choices of provider. I would certainly recommend this company as one to contact when looking for a generator.
