In order to be as brief and specific as possible - I will make a bullet list of why, I cannot recommend Lori Currier Interiors. 1. Does not give you the big picture. Typically, i've discussed a project, along with thoughts, ideas, taste, colors etc. and in the next meeting there would be 2 or 3 alternatives with materials, colors, furniture, etc. Basically a truly seasoned interior designer (ID) can help you see, by showing you samples of material, textures and pic's of style of furniture giving you the bigger picture. Maybe not to the extent you see on HGTV but clearly more then what Lori offers. Lori's approach is shows you a bunch of stuff and hope something sticks. I actually said to her on many occasions, Lori, you can show me individual rugs, sofa's, chairs and tables all day long, but really it's how it all comes together that is important to me. Lori never shows you the bigger picture, so you really don't know what direction you are going. 2. No concept of budget. I've stated many times that this being our ski home and rental and the fact i needed two sofa's, I didn't want something expensive as I already owned the $8-10k sofa at my main home. She showed me some great sofa's costing over $5000 each. The discussion went further but will save my allotted words for below. 3. She does not stand behind her sub-contractors work. At this point, based on the above comments. I decided I would focus Lori on the kitchen tile backsplash. Then I would re-evaluate whether to continue. She was to select a design and oversee it's installation and implementation. Pictures will show you it was not at the caliber of a skilled technician. She used Lakes Region Tile, James Foyer is the owner. Also in all fairness to Mr. Foyer, Lori selected a accent tile size that was not in proportion to the design photo she was trying to copy, hence a simple subway design was a mess. Lakes Region would have picked up on this fact on the job site. Any reputable firm would have not installed the tile. Along the process I did received another email from Lori stated instead of the triangle accent they would have to square it do to "cutting" the tile was no long feasible (at this point I said I couldn't tell how that was going to look but I gave her full creative control) That statement lost me the case. Lori never came on site to review the final product. Only coming once I called her and told her we had a problem. When she saw the poor workmenship she stated "give me the opportunity to correct this" she bailed on that promise once she realized there was no "quick, cut and past", but not before dragging it out another 4 months of giving me the run around with dates. I had two really good contractors but assumed if she used her own people it would be a more streamline process. 4. Pictures. You can see even where there were no accent tiles, subway layout is botched. Also you can see the accent tile that Lori Currier ordered was sized incorrectly in proportion. The photo I approved was an 2/3 to 1/3 accent tile to background tile. Problem is that the accent tile Lori ordered was 1/2 the length of the background tile, therefore making it impossible to get a subway look. As mentioned above, in vast places where there were no accent tiles, subway layout was grossly off mark by over an inch. One small wall had 4 accent tiles, you would have thought there would have been some thought to be placed from the center out, but there is no symmetry. Any reputable installer would have immediately seen the problem because the math would never work and would not (should not) have installed the tile because they could not implement the design with the tiles on-hand that was pictured by the designer. They also left my unit a mess with cement dust every where and never replacing items they moved. In addition Lori states on her web-site she is a member of the AISD, with them about what I am able to do in regards to Lori's negligence they informed me she is not a member. That they do see her name, but it was under another company name and could give me no further information other then to say. The company name listed on her website was not a member of the AISD. Description of Work: Interior Design Services, hired May of 2014 through March 2015. Paint colors of the entire 3000 sf home. Entire Living Room - Kitchen makeover. I could not write earlier as this was a situation that unfortunately lead to small claims court. Which I did not win the case, as the judge called it "buyers remorse" which he was correct. Please know, I have experience using interior decorators for my main home, and it can be a wonderful, stress free process. Also know, I have fully paid for all of Lori's services, fees, and even driving time. A mistake I won't make again, but I was traveling and her contractor took unusually long and kept rescheduling the job. I prepaid to not hold up the project. Another sign as I've never got billed from an interior decorator before items where delivered or the jobs was completed. We had gone to small claims court for kitchen tile backsplash, of which she was to oversee it's installation and implementation. I would suggest, if you do not really "love" Lori's photo's then you should not inquire. In the Bretton Woods area, there are not many in the area, she was the one to call me back and not too busy to take on the project. Please call my mobile if you have any questions 617-794-4392. Chris
