Our home's concrete steps were badly eroded from more than 60 years of New Hampshire weather. The front entrance consisted of a large concrete landing with a brick planter around the front. It was never very attractive, even back in 1954 when the home was built. Stone Raven jack-hammered all the broken concrete down to the solid structure beneath it. (We half expected to find the remains of a Boston mobster somewhere inside.) Building upon the solid footings that remained, they poured new concrete and restored a solid structure to build upon. They put decorative concrete block around the front, replacing the old bricks. We abandoned the idea of a planter in favor of enlarging the square footage of the landing, making it more like a small patio of blue stone, with space for chairs and a small table. The concrete steps were replaced with granite slabs. The result is something the home always lacked - a front entrance that compliments its design in a way that the old entrance never did. The back steps had also deteriorated. They were replaced with granite, with a larger landing at the top, making it easier to open the door. All the work was supervised by Homer the cat, watching through the front window, to the amusement of all. These guys are great! Jamie Cote and Joe Flis specialize in hardscapes - walkways, retaining walls, outdoor fire-pits, patios, and the like, but they also proved they can handle anything that relates to stone and concrete.
