Charlie's Drywall & Painting

After dealing with many disappointing contractors/handymen, Charlie & Richard were a (shocking) breath of fresh air and worth every penny. This company takes pride in their work and these two men truly want to do the best job for their customers in the long run. They do not cut corners at all and have extreme attention to detail. From the beginning, Charlie was organized, responsive and detailed in his quote. Over the course of 2 weeks, Richard and Charlie were consistently punctual and took great care to be respectful of our home (always used drop cloths everywhere they walked, swept/cleaned up after themselves daily & used the proper machines/filters so dust wouldn’t end up all over our house). The painting and drywall repair came out beautiful! I only wish I found this company sooner, but we will definitely be hiring Charlie & Richard again!

I own a Victorian house and the formal entrance had seen better days. It was dingy, shabby, and in need of a modern update. I contacted Charlie based on all the positive reviews on Angie's list. He came to the house to review the scope of the project and then sent me an estimate which I considered to be fair and hired him. He installed a brand new ceiling on the second floor which is beautiful. The narrow ceiling on the first floor was able to be saved. His crew scraped off the peeling calcite paint and then put a skim coat over mesh which saved the ceiling and and also saved me money. Before painting the high walls by the staircase he decided the plaster needed a skim coat to make the walls smooth and so he applied it at no extra charge. Charlie and his crew are extremely professional and courteous and do great work. They don't take shortcuts and go the extra mile to make the project look spectacular. In short, he was able to take my vision and turn it into reality. For this I am extremely grateful. I now have a formal entrance and a hallway that is extremely beautiful. RJP Manchester, NH

My wife and I hired Charlie to fix some patchwork in our ceiling. Charlie arrived promptly at the time we had planned and started bringing his stuff inside to begin working. When Charlie entered our house this is the exact exchange that occurred: Wife: "Since you're going to be working in our house, can you please wear a mask?" Charlie: "I'm going to be putting plastic up so there is no need to wear a mask." Wife: "I would still really like you to wear a mask." Charlie: Doesn't respond, kind of rolls his eyes and walks away. Wife: "Excuse me, we'd like you to wear a mask while you're in our house." Charlie: "We're done here." Charlie then proceeded to leave and we still need to get our ceiling fixed. My wife and I were in absolute shock. I understand that people have different viewpoints on masks but common courtesy and respect (especially in the service industry) is something we can all agree on. I can't speak to Charlie's work but I did not find him to be professional or operate in any manner that showed he cares/values his customers. Disappointed because of all the positive reviews...

It went great!! I hired Charlie and his crew to repair ceiling cracks, peeling joint compound, ceiling hole repairs and painting of the ceilings. Before Charlie and his crew even began working, they laid drop clothes from the truck to my door and throughout the house. They covered the walls with plastic sheeting. I didn't stick around to actually see the work being done but I see the results everyday and my wife and I are extremely happy. Oh, we have stamped ceilings and the repairs are seamless.

Professional work but failed to complete job. A section of damaged drywall was overlooked.

We could not be happier. Everyone was professional and friendly. We had our entire main floor living space repaired and painted. We had the popcorn removed from our ceilings they are gorgeous. Everything went perfectly. We like it more than we could ever have imagined, our home looks brand new when you walk in our front door.

I am very particular about work done on my properties. I cannot say enough good things about working with Charlie. They arrived on time over two days, cleaned up after their work, laid down drop clothes to protect wood floors and contained the dust to the workspace. The quality of the work is excellent. I don't say this about many companies I hire, but I would highly recommend Charlie and his crew to anyone.

Charlie really knows his craft - a true pro. I hired him to repair a tape seam "scar" along the edge of a vaulted ceiling in our master bedroom. The trick was that it's a textured dry wall ceiling and I wanted it repaired and blended into the existing pattern. Charlie and one of his crew did an amazing job. It looks perfect as if there was never anything wrong with it in the first place. The match to the existing ceiling is remarkable. He definitely knows what he's doing.

Charlie and his team did an excellent job and exceeded my expectations. Everything was stellar from the detailed cost estimate, scheduling to meet my needs, prompt arrival every day, to the final job completion. We were very pleased and would hire again. They were here for a drywall repair and paint from a water leak and we had them do many other areas that were in need of work while they were here. They painted and matched the ceiling swirl on several ceilings, painted walls and trim very professionally, sanding and patching as needed. Very nice, trustworthy people who kept things clean and organized during the project. They arrived promptly each day and the project was completed earlier than expected. 20 y/o colonial with cathedral foyer and sunroom. Drywall required significant repair in the foyer, sunroom, and in two of the bedrooms. Where other contractors had quoted simply mud to cover the problem, Charlie wanted to remove and re-tape and fix the underlying problems. The work is seamless. The detail Charlie and his team take with painting and caulking work is far superior to what I would expect from a contractor. For example, Charlie quoted two coats of paint for the whole job. The sunroom color didn't pop the way he thought it should, so he added a third coat - and bam - it was like magic. This kind of quality does not come without cost. I'm guessing that Charlie won't be the cheapest bid you get. He wasn't the cheapest for us, but he worked with us and our budget to find a good compromise in approach. We certainly had champagne taste on a beer budget. I would 100% have Charlie's Drywall & Painting help us with other projects should they come up.

An electrician had previously cut three holes in my drywall and also lost a tool somewhere in the wall. I called Charlie for help. He and his assistant were able to delicately remove the stuck tool and fix all the holes. The walls were perfectly smooth and I would challenge anyone to find where the repairs had been made. After the project was complete, Charlie and his assistant thoroughly and professionally cleaned the entire working area. I would certainly recommend his services.

We were searching for contractors to repair a severely water-damaged ceiling that had simply been painted over by a previous contractor. Charlie was responsive, kind, and fair in his assessment of the issue, thoroughly explaining to us what was wrong and what needed to be done to correct it. Our ceilings have a textured flower pattern that we were worried would be difficult to match due to other obvious areas in our home's ceilings that had been replaced by the previous owners and Charlie assured us that it wouldn't be a problem. His quote was specific and thorough and we had confidence that Charlie was the right person to fix our issue. Charlie and his crew member arrived on-time and began work right away. The damaged ceiling was cut away and repaired, care was taken to plastic off the room to avoid dust getting to other parts of the house, and the bathroom was left cleaner than it had been before the work was done. The ceiling when finished looked immaculate and the flower pattern matched to perfection. The bathroom repair and some other repairs in our spare room were both completed within the day, and both Charlie and his crew member were kind, professional, and happy to answer any questions or concerns my husband and I had. I would without a doubt recommend Charlie to anyone looking for painting and drywall work, and especially repair work. We could not be more pleased and will absolutely contact him again in the future.

Charlie and his team did an excellent job in repairing and painting my living/dining/kitchen areas, including ceiling, walls, and trim. This was a difficult task as there was much damage, and I interviewed many other contractors for this work. It became clear from the interviews that this was going to be a very difficult task, and no one but Charlie could assure me that they could fix the damage (particularly in the ceiling) and make it look seamless. He was not the lowest cost option, but he was straightforward and clear on what he would do, and boy did he deliver! He just finished the work, and my place looks spectacular! The ceilings look flawless - he completely fixed the damage, made it look seamless, and perfectly matched the texture compared to the rest of the ceiling. The walls and trim look spectacular, too. He also went the extra mile in fixing some damage in a utility closet and painting an acrylic section of kitchen cabinet wall to match the rest of the room. I am very pleased, and would certainly hire him and his team again. :)

I made the mistake of hiring a large franchise painting company to perform ceiling repairs as well as paint all of the ceilings in my Condo. The painting portion of the project came out ok. Unfortunately the repairs they performed on the ceilings, which are popcorn style, turned out poorly and were extremely noticeable. The repair areas needed to be completely resurfaced and retextured and Charlie walked me through what would need to be done to blend my ceilings properly. The results were fantastic! I could not be happier with the work performed. You cannot even tell that the ceilings were repaired. If you are looking for a professional who is detail oriented and someone who obviously takes great pride in their work, then I would recommend that you look no further than Charlie's Drywall and Painting.

We had recently used Charlie for ceiling repair in our own home. We needed to repair several ceilings in my mother's condo before she sold it, and there was no question...we would ask Charlie to do the work. The condo had three rooms that had work done in the past to install new lighting. The prior contractor had simply applied white tape over the holes that needed to be cut to install the lighting in order to save money. Also, in the garage, prior water damage required that part of the ceiling needed to be replaced, painted, etc. Charlie is alway very punctual. He arrived on time in order to provide an estimate, and the estimate was very detailed, including the equipment that would be used, the precautions that would be taken to protect the home/contents, etc. The work was done over three days. Charlie and Richard arrived on time every day. They are both very friendly and professional. Not only did they perform the work per the estimate, they also pointed out other issues that were discovered as the work was done. Some of this was not apparent until the work started, combined with the age of the ceilings. This was not an attempt to pad the bill, but a bona fide effort to identify issues that were not (and could not be) previously identified, and provide the option to do the job properly. No pressure. We opted to add the extra work since it was justified and the price was more than fair. They did an awesome job. We could not be happier with the results. Everything looked great. The spray painting matched the old texture as close as could be, and the flat white finish painting on the entire ceiling made it look uniform. Clean-up was great...you would never know they were there. No damage at all. I highly recommend Charlie. I would not go anywhere else in the future,

I highly recommend Charlie. I could not have been more pleased from beginning to end. Charlie responded to our initial request immediately, worked us into his schedule and followed up a few days prior to the date of service. He arrived on-time on the day of service. Charlie is very friendly and professional. He put down protective drop cloths all of the way up the stairs and along the 2nd floor hallway (for trips back and forth to his truck). The hole was approximately 2ft. square. He repaired it, applied several coats of plaster (drying in-between each coat using air blowers). He did a great job of matching the white sand pearl paint swirl finish with the rest of the ceiling. We opted to paint the entire ceiling ourselves with flat white so it will be uniform, but it almost doesn't even need it. The job was so neat and clean, you would never know that he was there. His workmanship is excellent and his price is very fair. I always appreciate finding a great contractor. I would definitely use Charlie for any future work.

We had a skylight in our master bedroom removed and Charlie and his guys installed insulation and repaired the inside hole. They arrived as scheduled and performed the work in a timely manner. They left the area completely clean and you can't possibly tell where they did the work in the ceiling, it looks perfect. I didn't rate them for price because after talking with Charlie at the estimate I decided I wasn't going to hire anyone else. Highly recommend!

Charlie and his crew were very punctual. Charlie explained in detail everything they were going to do and why. They covered all my furniture, laid tarps on all my floors and were careful not to get paint anywhere. Charlie and his crew were very courteous and professional. My ceiling looks great. They did an awesome job. Upon completion of the job, they picked up all the taps an plastic and left my house just like they found it. I would definitely use them again as well as recommended them to friends and family.
