Getting Viking to the job took a great deal of patience as they are heavily in demand for both residential and commercial work on some considerable projects. A date was promised in November and after a 3 month interval, showed up on the appointed day. The work was fully accomplished in a four day span: Day one was meeting with the project manager to review the scope of work and the approach to the stripping and reconstruction. Day two and three was doing the job Day four was again meeting with the project manager to review the work done and to finish up the cleanup of the remaining demolition debris.
Description of Work: Third story slate roof with north side facing: leaking sheet metal ice belt. Viking designed a better ice belt which included a valley and joinure to a building wall. Viking removed the existing ice belt and additional section of the slate tiles to accommodate the larger belt. Viking fabricated the copper elements on site and put all pieces into place. The work force was insured and the workmanship/materials warrantied. Viking removed all debris and let me keep the off-cut copper. Note: Viking is usually the highest bidder: I believe this is because they know their business and do not lowball the price to get the work. the workmanship is of the highest quality as is the materials, hence a high price. They don't haggle or change the price by cheapening the job...you are either Ok with it or you get someone else. They will back up the price with sufficient detail to assure you that you are not being taken for a ride.

I called him for an estimate and he came out right away and sent me an estimate within a week. I called back a couple of times asking for a breakdown for the price of the shingled roof, rubber for the shed dormer, and rubber for the porch roof. He and his staff were always very accommodating and provided each estimate as I requested it. After I had decided on having them do both rubber roofs his office contacted me the evening before telling me that they had an opening in their schedule for doing just the rubber roof on the shed dormer. They came in the morning and finished it in a few hours. The workers were very polite and the roof came out beautifully. Afterwards when I was talking to Jeff about the porch roof he told me that I should put off doing it until the shingles were done on the main part of the roof because of the potential of damage to the rubber roofing. He agreed to defer doing that work until after I had the shingles done. He couldn't have been more helpful.
Description of Work: They stripped off the decayed roofing of my shed dormer and replaced it with new rubber roofing.
