Description of Work: Provided and installed ventless gas Napoleon fireplace and mantel. Installation was excellent but the mantel top arrived with a damage. Vendor/contractor is to follow up on obtaining replacement from Napoleon. If he does that successfully for us, in a timely manner, this rating will rise.

We had purchased a wood stove from the firehouse stove shoppe, at a very decent price. After shopping around for a bit we found them to be the place that would fit in our tight budget. Getting the stove installed was a bit of a hassle, but in the end it was worth it. The installation crew was very respectful of my home, kept me informed of the progress throughout the day, discovered an issue and resolved it to my satisfaction. We even came under budget which was great. I would recommend and use them again in the future.

Do not believe Jeff Horton Get the bill in writing before work is begun, its different after the work is done Do not pay him until the work is completed because once he is paid he lies to you and tells you right to your face that his party is more important than honoring his contract. PS my ans machine recorded his outright lies.
Description of Work: Estimate was for 850. Bill given to me was for 900. Bill was printed prior to any work being done but presented to me after work was done. Never finished job. His worker called him on installation date 12/15 to tell him a part was needed. Jeff said he would come 12/17 to finish so I paid the inflated bill on 12/15. Jeff never came. Jeff denied ever knowing of the problem even though I stood there while his employee explained it to him on the phone. Jeff then promised he would come 12/24. Again Jeff didn't come. His explanation is that he had a party to go to and I should understand that was more important then completeing the job I had already paid for. He certainly cashed the check prior to that, I have the cancelled check. Promised me another date 10 days in the future. I chose to have no further interaction with this man as his word is worthless. I hired another contractor to complete the work which he did at additional expense.

Jeff was very professional and punctual for our site evaluation. His estimate was the final price and service was rendered two weeks after the site visit (a hearth pad had to be purchased and installed per fire code and manufacturer's requirements). Jeff is also a volunteer firefighter so I knew he was "safety-first" minded. The overall installation went very well. My only concern was that the through-the-wall connector required the partial removal of a wall stud (it was trimmed with a reciprocating saw). Only a third of the stud was removed so this is probably a non-issue. I only wish that it was installed exactly between the wall studs. The chimney looks pretty square and the rest of the installation looks great. I would highly recommend Jeff and his team. He also had a shop in Epping, NH so before you purchase a wood-burning or pellet stove, it's worth probably checking out his store front.
Description of Work: Installation of hearth pad, free-standing wood stove (purchased from another retailer), stainless steel exterior Class A Duravent chimney (purchased from another retailer), double-wall interior Duravent stovepipe (purchased from another retailer) and chimney roof bracket.

ew company removed the liner that Victorian installed. It was twisted and had holes in it so there was more thsn usual
Description of Work: They installed a stainless steel chimney liner. They woudn't return my calls and emails to service my chimney this Year. I contacted another company. The chimney liner Victorian installed was too short They added a piece of pipe. The new company removed the liner installed by Victorian. It was twisted and had holes in it. (only two years old) There was a lot more creasote that had to be removed before they installed the correct liner.Stay far away from Victorian!

This company even did extra work for me for no charge. They moved my old stove before putting in the new one, which they didn't have to do. Then they lined the chimney and installed piping. They are very particular about their work and very knowledgeable. I would use them again without question.
Description of Work: This company installed a wood-burning stove I had purchased elsewhere.

See above - still waiting for any response
Description of Work: I would like to add a comment to this companies rating. Jeff Horton is a very pleasant guy who is personable. I had him over for evaluation of my fireplace a few months back. Since then I have been in touch with him over the phone and e-mail several times. I am still waiting for an estimate. Unfortunately the cold season is approaching fast. I certainly feel frustrated over the fact that my time is being wasted. I had to work a lot with contractors over the last few years and that experience would leave me to believe that we have no economic crisis and that nobody is looking for a job ! Summary: nice guy, certainly well meaning, unreliable or just overwhelmed with his duties

This gentleman requested information for a glass door set that I do not sell. I inquired about the door from a local supplier and to this date haven't received any response from them. I am at the mercy of another supplier and this season has been crazy. I will communicate with this customer and try to move forward with this but if I don not get replies from the suppliers then I can not give answers. As I have always said to my customers, if you need something custom, please do not wait until the busy season, this is something you want to do in the slow season. -- Jeff

Having Jeff do this work was a delight. He's quite personable, though also professional. He arrived with his truck and work trailer, and helper, right on time. I showed him around the home, specifically the fireplace and chimney. After some inspection of my particular set up, he described to me what he would need to do in order to install everything safely, and to code. Every install is different, and Jeff was prepared. He started with the liner, by working it into place after removing the damper. He brought the damper parts to me to save, in case the fireplace was ever to be used in this manner again. After the liner was in place, he got the cap property set up, and did some basic re-pointing to ensure everything was sealed up correctly. All the while, his helper was setting up parts and pieces, cleaning up behind him, and delivering Jeff needed parts. It was a smooth operation. Once the chimney was all set, he moved inside to get the stove set up. It was fairly heavy, and I must say, it was impressive watching him maneuver it up over our stone stairs when he first arrived... he has a pretty sweet electronic dolly that walked up the stairs! His helper had gotten the unit ready while he was on a very tall ladder working on chimney, so at this point they just had to line it all up and attach everything. Once this was complete, his helper went to work cleaning while Jeff explained some ins and outs of having a new wood stove. My particular install required a few unique touches and Jeff wasn't afraid to apply his knowledge to my unique circumstance. He was prepared for just about anything, and it was nice to have a craftsman install my stove and liner, rather than what I might call a 'contract-only' guy, who did only what he was paid to, in only the way he was paid to do it. I also appreciated having a regular guy doing the work, who was happy to chat with you about this and that. He also had some nice comments on several things I had done to the home by way of repair or maintenance, and had a few suggestions or ideas for other things I was going to do in the future. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed having Jeff do all this custom work for me. The results were great - I've had the stove running for one full season and all is well. He was a pleasure to have in my home, and when he left, he left my home as it was before he arrived. If I need any of the services Jeff offers in the future, I will contact him first.
Description of Work: I purchased a brand new wood stove and stainless steel chimney liner. My existing fireplace was being used as a fireplace, had a damper, and remains clay lined. Victorian Enterprises picked up the new stove and necessary parts, delivered them to my home, installed the liner and chimney cap, did some basic re-pointing where needed, and installed the new wood stove by setting it inside the fireplace.
