1st day of install we got rained out, but he returned a couple days later (due to my schedule) and finished the job. They took the time to make sure I knew how to run the new stove. One thing i want to add.. I as all set to buy the best they had on offer. They took the time to explain why a cheaper stove would actualy serve my house better then the more expensive one i had 1st chosen with better effeciency and much easier and cheaper part replacement on pieces that wear out (like the burn basket) All in all a great experence with people that really knew what they were doing!

It went well. The technician (Dave), arrived on time and was very professional. He did not leave behind any soot, and checked out various spots along the entire chimney for problems.

Mark and his assistant were amazing. I was quite happy with the work they did and everything came out great. They actually completed the job in 2 days which was impressive considering the effort of cutting out and closing off the basement areas of the chimney for the furnace and cutting the inlet on the main floor. The part that surprised me the most was the effort they made to contain any messes. They laid blankets in the walking areas and shook them out as needed and vacuumed thoroughly both days before they left. Having had a prior window job done that went from a 1 week quote to a 4 week completion, I figured I was on the hook for a nightly cleaning like I did for that job, but was happy to already have that done. They made sure to go over the nuances for the new wood stove as it was quite different from my 30yr old Federal Airtight. They also went ahead and applied a creosote remover to a very old stain on the front side of the chimney on the main floor. That wasn't anything that had been discussed but they just went ahead and did it while they were there at no extra cost. Upon arrival they were conscientious of pets, as they wanted to make sure animals didn't escape if they weren't supposed to. My wife and I are very happy with how the whole project turned out. They were very nice and worked very well together. I worked from home both days and aside from the cutting through the bricks there was minimal noise as they worked through the whole process. We would certainly recommend Chestnut Hill Chimney & Hearth for any chimney and woodstove work/needs. Fingers crossed all I need them for in the future is the annual cleaning...
Description of Work: We had a small chimney fire that had cracked the old clay liner and damaged the woodstove. This was a flue used for both the woodstove and the furnace. When we went to get quotes it was determined that this chimney setup was no longer to code so through estimates with a couple of different companies we received a variety of options to solve. Mark's solution was by far the least invasive and least expensive. One solution offered by another company was to pull the woodstove out of the chimney and move it across the room and stick a secondary metal chimney out the front of the house to the tune of over $20,000 including the new stove. While evaluating options, Mark determined that the flue was actually large enough to support 2 separate metal liners (one for the furnace in the basement, one for the woodstove on the main floor) so no major floor plan changes were needed. In addition, the furnace exhaust was put through a wall into the chimney during a prior remodel. This was also not to code so Mark quoted plugging that up, cutting a hole in the backside of the chimney and moving the exhaust to the new inlet, as well as closing off a 3rd inlet in the upstairs. They also had to move the inlet for the woodstove on the main floor to offset slightly to accommodate aligning with the new liner. For all this work and the new woodstove it quoted at $8000 (around $4000 of which was just the new stove cost). This was quoted as a 3 day job.

Perfect. Mark is clearly a professional. He repaired my stove door, made it useable again, all while very patiently answering all my questions about proper maintenance and care. He also gave me some much needed advice on alternative ways to save even more money on my heating bill. These are very helpful and friendly folk. I would not hesitate to ask them for help again and recommend to anyone who needs this service.

They have done two jobs for us in recent years (repaired roof leak at stack vent and installed chimney cap to keep animals out) and both times it was a pleasure doing business with them. They were easy to work with, punctual, the price was very reasonable, and they stand by their work.

Description of Work: I had just purchased a new home and wanted to have the chimney inspected & cleaned. The 2 men who came were both very professional and knowledgable. The owner took the time to explain to me different heating options, prices and value of each type of heating option. I believe it was a great value for the services performed as well as the knowledge that they shared with me. I will definately be using them in the future.

Thank you. Your review means a lot to us as one of our main reasons for starting our business years ago was that we were new homeowners and couldn't find anyone who would explain anything to us. So that has always been our priority. Thank you for doing business with us.
