I had my car towed into Auto Doctors because the brakes went to the floor all of a sudden but they had been making a rattling sound. Turns out everything was basically gone, (rotors, pads, the whole kit was rolling around). The mechanic did not know how it lasted that long. I was not aware it was that serious, it was an older car so there were no warning lights. Had it towed about 6 at night and had it back the next day. Auto Doctors are a family owned business and they beat anyone else's prices that I have checked. And they are quick and stand by their work. I even had a transmission put in 3 years ago and it cost me about 800.00 for everything.

I had been there before to get a few things done, you know - small stuff like brake pads, or oil changes... radiator flush, etc... had no problems.Went there to get a catalytic converter replaced on my Subaru Forrester Wagaon, and they had problems getting it off due to corrosion... so, they used a welding torch. They complained about having to take that extra step... In so doing, when they heated up the catalytic converter, they must have touched the transmission, because the tranny died right up the road from the place, and I assure you, I never had the slightest problem with my tranny - ever. It was working like silk.... had to have AAA tow me down the road to Subaru. I instantly was suspicious of the repair - and Subaru told me it looks like someone had hit the tranny with a torch which warped the Bellhausing case.. bad news, I needed a new tranny to the tune of $1800 - and that was rebuilt, not new.I went back to the Auto Doctor, and told them the prognosis - now.. I ask you - how could Subaru know that someone took a welding iron to the undercrriage of the car? Lucky guess? They had NO WAY to know that. Julie runs the operaton there... When I told Julie what Subaru had told me - she denied it.. said that there is no way it is related to what they did, washed her hands of the whole thing after telling me they used a welding torch to get the CAT off. So, here is the thing.. and mind you - I was a good repeat customer who not only had my car taken care of there, but had my kids x 4 cars there as well... and for a number of years. But the very first time - this place had made a mistake - got caught in the act - you know what she told me?She said if i was going to insinuate that they did something wrong - then I could take my business elsewhere. Well, I did, I have - and I can honestly tell you - if you go there, you do so at risk to your car, with no guarantee on the work, with a chance that that yours will come out of there with more problems than when it went in - and get this - here's the biggie... no respect for years of pleasant, non-demanding, agreeable business with thousands of dollars spent there between my cars and my kids cars. If you're looking here, you're probably checking the place out.. with an eye toward having your car serviced there. They have no class with respect to how they treated me a long term customer, no professionalism (as any other place would have taken a look at it - and tried to make it right) , and they will throw your carcas right under the bus if they think it's going to cost a dollar to make a situation right. Big QUESTION - why should I have had to shell out 2k for a rebuilt tranny? WHY?In retrospect, I never trusted them to do anything that required any sort of real mechnical expertise. I gave them easy jobs.I misjudged the ease of getting a new catalytic converter, because clearly it was too much for them.I wish I could report something different, but this is the God's Honest Truth. Buyer Beware. And Julie - if you see this, I hope you have grown up as a professional in the several years since I was a customer. You know who I am, you know what happened to my car - and you know who was at blame. I also know you could care less.... I hope my review costs you some valuable business, because people should know how you operate before they trust their car to you.

They replaced the power steering Rack & Pinion, but after driving home, the exhaust pipe made a rubbing sound and vibration, I called, and took it in for an oil change which was due, and for them to check the work they had done after I explained what was happening. They checked it over and said the rubber boot had burned off ( from what I don't know, I assume the exhaust pipe), they now said to bring it in again and they would put a rubber boot on for nothing, but after leaving there again, the exhaust now has a rattle to it, so now I will be going in for the rubber boot and hopefully to fix the rattle in the exhaust, I find that when ever I go there for something, my car runs worse after I leave. So today I took the day off because you have to drop your car off, went in so they could replace the boot and I explained that now the exhaust was rattling, she says "I don't know how we could be causing all these problems" when I said everytime I leave here I have another problem. When I picked it up today, she said she fixed the rattling. I took off and was apprehensive about what was going to happen next. I was just a few hundred yards away from there when I noticed the red engine light was on, so back I went, she tested it with a small machine, said "ok Shirley I took care of it, the engine light is out". I got into my car made it a little further than the last time and on comes the engine light. At this point I told myself, I will cut my losses and go to another garage..I would not recommend that place to anyone nor will I ever take my car there again. This is a followup, after I left there deciding to cut my losses after engine light came back on, I stopped at the Subaru place where I bought my car because the engine light on scared me. He took it into the garage, after a while he told me that whoever was doing my oil changes must have broken off the dip stick to the Differential fluid, the piece was still in there and the fluid was almost empty and burned black, I don't know just how long ago that happened, but even if it was before going to Auto Doctors, they should have noticed it when they did at least 3 oil changes for me. This diagnostic for the engine light and the Diff fluid problem cost me 115.00, but that is not the end of it, I have to have the 02 sensor replaced, the light is for the oxygen sensor. Isn't that conncected to the exhaust?, when they could not fix the exhaust rubbing, then rattlling, did they just disconnect the thing to get rid of the noise? She had told me that they did have to remove the exhaust to replace the rack & pinion, the exhaust never worked the same again. Shirley
Description of Work: I had a power steering Rack & Pinion replaced replaced due to a leak that was landing on the exhaust system. Also had several oil changes
