The new tank seemed to be working well. Then we were getting 'blue staining' from the clothes washer. When questioned about it, the company did not think it could be the water tank and they had never heard of bluing before. I researched on the internet for blue staining and found that it almost certainly pointed somehow to the water tank. I told them that the only thing that changed was the water tank. We did not change clothes detergents or water softener salt. They sent an electrician to check to make sure the tank was grounded properly and it was. We conducted tests with the washer. We washed some whites in cold water and did not get the staining. We then washed some whites in hot water and there was definite staining. Still, the company was fairly certain that it was not the water tank. I asked to have the company rep visit but he declined saying he didn't think it would do any good. He wasn't very good at returning calls most of the time. The company still resisted getting the problem fixed. So we conducted additional testing about two weeks later and found that the problem still existed. Then we had a home inspection (required because we were selling the house). The inspector noticed that the tank was leaking. The company was notified and sent a crew to investigate. They replaced the tank and the blue staining problem went away. The tank was replaced without additional cost after two months of back and forth with the company. Another area of disappointment was when the company first replaced the tank. They emptied the tank via a hose that went through a basement window and discharged on the lawn. The area where the water discharged from the hose died (a 3' circle), and I reported this to the company. When the new tank was replaced again, I told the service men that the water had been killed due to the discharge of the water from the tank, and to make sure that the hose reached all the way to the woods. So they routed the hose out a different door and discharged the water onto the lawn again. The grass died again. Now there are two dead spots for the buyer.

Prompt, efficient, and acted responsively. I liked the two repair persons. Expensive. 20 minutes on site, plus trip to buy part, since not on truck. $110 for first hour and $80 for second??

From the initial call to the technician's visit the whole experience was very professional, easy and educational. The tech who arrived, on time, at our residence had all the tools/materials for our small job in his van. He was very personable, knowledgeable, and willing to explain exactly what he was doing and provide multiple options for every question we had. We will certainly be returning to Martel for any and all plumbing needs in the future and have already referred them to family and friends (and even complete strangers!).

Overall an excellent experience... on budget and on time, by an extremely professional crew.

The plumber arrived ten minutes early and checked the current water pressure, which was lower than normal as expected. He gave us some suggestions after reviewing the situation. We decided to go with his suggestion of installing a pressure gauge so that we can monitor and adjust the water pressure in our home once the City implements the new system. He explained in detail what he was planning to do and the entire job was done very professionally. The reason we chose Martel goes back ten years when we needed a plumber to install a water heater. We called three others in our area and none of them returned our calls. When we called Martel, they responded immediately, answered all the questions we had, gave us a choice of brands to choose from, ordered the heater and had it installed within days. Excellent service. Since then we have used them on three other occasions. First, he repaired a pinhole leak in our laundry room. Second he installed a new outdoor faucet. Third, he worked with a contractor we hired to install new flooring in the two upstairs bathrooms. That required removing the toilets before the workers arrived and then being available to reinstall the toilets when the contractor finished the job. He was prompt and efficient. It is nice to have peace of mind knowing that if an emergency arrives, Martel will be here in a timely fashion as they have in the past. Martel also offers a senior discount.

Martel plumbing did a wonderful job replacing my hot water heater.

Repairing the faucet - was told that the serviceman will arrive between 11 to 3. Showed up at 3. Looked around, gave some advice, and spend 20 minutes repairing a faucet. Altogether 30 minutes. Charged $111. Installing the power vent - had to go for part, charged the time for fetching the part. No estimate beforehand. Afterwards the charge was close to $750. When I received the bills in the mail, I called and asked for a discount. I was told that they'll call me back. Never got a call back. After a few weeks, a reminder to pay showed up in the mail. Paid.
