JOHN CILLEY PLUMBING AND HEATING

We bought this home when it had been foreclosed on and been vacant for 2 years. The realtor told us that Cilley Plumbing had winterized the plumbing and heating (hot water) systems both years in the fall (before the weather turned cold), so we should contact them to turn it all back on. We set up an appointment, but Cilley's men arrived early, but didn't wait for us to arrive (they were let in by other workman). The worker turned a switch on the boiler system for one zone of the three zone house. There is no pilot to light. When we arrived, the worker then said there wasn't enough anti-freeze fluid in the system to run all three zones. When Cilley was contacted about the shortage of anti-freeze fluid in the system (remember he had winterized it), he said someone must have snuck into the house over the winter and drained the anti-freeze out of our system (located on the Main Street of a town of 1400, with neighbors all around, no footprints in snow, etc). Cilley's worker took the only manual to the boiler system as well as a wall thermostat so he could study up on it because he didn't know how to work it (we assumed they'd be back) and has yet to return them. When the house started warming because of a portable heater the carpenters were using, one of the upstairs radiators Cilley had supposedly "winterized" thawed, cracked and leaked water all over our house, damaging flooring and the ceiling below. We now have to pay someone else to repair that damage.. as well as the broken radiator. Cilley denied that he was responsible for breaking the radiator, even though he was the only one who had done any work on the house while it was on the market. Now Cilley has sent us a bill for $170--which includes $110 for turning on the boiler system, then an additional half hour of labor for each of two workers--the guy who flipped the switch and the guy who watched him flip the switch. We have still to get our manual or our thermostat back from them. Needless to say, neither we nor any of our family will be working with Cilley again. The other tradesmen who were in the house at the time (and let Cilley's guys in) still talk about incompetent "work" Cilley's crew did--those carpenters won't ever be using Cilley in the future either.
