custom cabinets

Tell us the story from start to finish (10,000 character limit): I was somewhat nervous, not because of Jims work but because we were changing the kitchen so drastically. The bottom line is that it came out beautifully. The wood grain matches. The color matches and his workmanship was not only very professional but so much more than I hoped for. He had to match the arch on the top of the door and it came out perfect. You cannot tell what's old and what's new. We still haven't made any decisions regarding the other cabinet doors. I am thinking about glass for a couple just to break up all the wood. I know that Jim will help us with this and guide us in the right direction. I recommend James R. Simard to anyone looking for quality work at an affordable price.
Description of Work: Although the cabinets in our new condo are very nice we're not happy with the sound they make when shut so we contacted our local Home Depot to find someone to reface them. We really didn't want to do this because they're a beautiful oak but again the noise was annoying to say the least. Home Depot put us in contact with James R. Simard. We made an appointment, he came (on time) with his books and samples. We couldn't make a decision about the doors but we decided to buy our "dream" refrigerator. In doing this we had to take out four upper cabinets and two lower ones. Jim helped us design a "closet" for next to the fridge. The top two doors conceal three adjustable shelves and the two bottom doors hide three pull out drawers. We have places to put those small appliances, dishes, paper products and all the other stuff we didn't know what to do with.
