Description of Work: This was my first use of Dover Computer Repair services. I needed professional help to rid my laptop of malware and to feel assured that the job was done completely. I felt confident that the staff were knowledgeable and professional from the start. In detail they told me what the technician was going to do and how long it would take, and why. I am not disappointed! The laptop speed/response has been restored and no longer have hangups. |I highly recommend this business to fix any computer illness.

 + -1 moreThe computer was repaired in the time promised. When I went in to pick it up, I talked to the senior technician, Andy, who said he was the one who had worked on it. He plugged it in and tested it out for me, made a few final adjustments, showed me the monitoring tools and how it was operating. We loaded the program I use most often and it now loaded immediately - a huge improvement. He let me test it out and play with it until I was satisfied all was working well. He noted that there was one small problem I might run into that had to do with how an external hard drive that I had left at home inserts into the computer tower. He assured me that if it was a problem once I got home that I could bring it back and they would make an adjustment that would fix it. However, I did not have any problem when I got home - everything works fine - and speedy. All three of the guys I talked to were extremely pleasant and responsive to my needs, questions, concerns. Such excellent people skills are unusual in business and I'm delighted to have found them in a group of young computer guys. As an older woman I also appreciate that they never talked down to me or assumed I wouldn't understand what they were talking about and were immediately willing to explain in lay language anything that I didn't understand. The whole experience was educational for me. Thank you, DCR! I'll definitely use you for my future computer needs.
Description of Work: Troubleshooted an old 2006 PC that would not recognize the hard disk on bootup with a CD after I had replaced/upgraded the RAM (the computer was working fine but was slow and RAM was almost maxed out). Technician Jim (I think that was his name) found and showed me damage to the cable connections that had resulted from my work on it. He talked to me about what I used the computer for - how important it was for me to have a computer that was fast, lots of memory, etc. that is, what my priorities were. He explained how the hard disk itself was one of the reasons for the computer loading programs slowly. Then he talked to me about various options and price ranges, from replacing the entire computer to replacing the hard disk with a similar part to upgrading to a much faster solid state hard disk to simply putting it back together with the existing disk. The disk was working again after he inserted the cables properly but he brought up the computer's monitoring tools and showed me when the computer was running slowly and why. In other words, he spent probably 45 minutes troubleshooting and showing/explaining to me what was going on with my PC and what would make it work better. I chose the solid state disk upgrade and left it with them to repair.

Description of Work: My computer was making a loud whining sound, and wasn't working. Andrew did diagnostics and found no issues, but carefully explained what the issue might be, what he was looking for, and what I needed to do when I got the computer home. He also noted that if the problem continued, he would be willing to continue to work with me to find a satisfactory solution.

 + -1 moreDropped my computer off 2 days ago and picked it up today. It is perfect! They installed new upgrades and cleaned it up. It was actually ready yesterday, but couldn't get it until today. They are very knowledgeable, reasonable and nice. They definitely know what they are doing and they are quick. I won't use anybody else.
