MTD’s Property Maintenance & Contractors LLC

I've hired MTD for several indoor and outdoor jobs. Although the owner is really a nice guy and I do believe they're trying, I've had a lot of trouble with them including several times they performed outdoor services without clearing them with me first and then charging me for them and the lawn maintenance guys destroying my good plants (including a rose bush, dozens of strawberry plants and several raspberry plants) because they trim so haphazardly. I also had wood panelling put on a wall that they installed the wrong way (vertical instead of horizontal) and not only are they asking me to pay for the cost of materials to re-do, I haven't been able to get them scheduled to actually change it and it has been more than a year. I also asked for estimates on two big jobs (kitchen countertops and wood flooring in my master bedroom) and despite two visits to the house haven't gotten an estimate yet. Again, really nice people, but if you want something done correctly and in a reasonable timeframe, look elsewhere.

Though MTD did not perform the work, they did a thorough estimate and the price they quoted was fair... we are just not ready to spend that much and scaled the project back to a level that we could afford. Mostly DIY now.

We had a very wet and rainy summer. We were seven inches ahead of what we were last year at this time in terms of the amount of rain. So sometimes it was two weeks before they could get in and get it cut. It was left too long. But they have some of the cuts where they have to go in line. A nice sunny day came up. Let us say that they come every Wednesday to cut and it rained on Wednesday that week. The next week Monday and Tuesday were nice and sunny but it rained again on Wednesday. They would cut on Monday and Tuesday for the customer who were normally scheduled for Monday and Tuesday. They would skip me because they can't cut the grass when it rains. They would come back the third Wednesday and by that time the grass would be six inches long. You shouldn't let the grass get that long. But it wasn't their fault and I can't expect people to work 24 hours a day. Still the expectation was that they really would have been there more often. I have an acre of grass and they also do some weed whacking. I have a large fenced area for dogs. They had to use a hand mower inside the fenced area and inside the lawn they could use a riding mower. They used three different machines to get my lawn cut. It takes two men and about 45 minutes or so to do the job. When they could come and cut, they did an excellent job. One time their bagging machine broke down and there was cut grass all over the place. It was a real mess and they didn't do anything about it. They informed me before hand that their machine was broken and asked if I wanted them to cut the grass. I agreed to it because it seemed to rain again. They were there and the weather was finally good. So it was with my permission that they went ahead and cut. But if I had known the mess that it would make I would probably have not agreed.
