Gary Gilbert Masonry

Gary called me within minutes of posting project on site. Met with me the next day (end of June 2023) to go over project. Told me his per square foot rate, which I agreed to. Bragged about how sourced his stone locally and also told me that the stone was included in the quote. Gary said he was 3 weeks out. I agreed to everything. Said he would get me samples the following. Did not hear from him the following week. Called him. He seemed aggravated that I was calling him after he did not respond to my text or phone calls. Said he would call me the next day to tell me when he would show up to do job. Never called and did no hear from him again. Strung me along for a month and then ghosted me. Very unprofessional, rude and would not use him if he was the last mason on earth.

Gary was very quick to respond and schedule the work. Great guy and his workers did an excellent job.

I met with Gary in October to discuss adding a granite cap to my outdoor fire pit. The original fire pit stone and mortar had deteriorated. Gary was able to work with a stone quarry and have them create a round sold granite cap to go over the existing stone. The granite was delivered and placed on top of the pit today as he had to drive a truck across my lawn and we wanted to be sure the ground was frozen. He will return in the spring to finish the work by applying mortar under the granite and he will also do some stone wall repair at that time. While this project has been long and slow, Gary always quickly responded to my text and phone messages. The cost was more than I would like, but material costs are very high everywhere right now. I will definitely work with Gary again.

Gary did a great job with a challenging repair to our 180yr old brick cape. Did a fantastic job mating the repair work to the original brick work of the house so you can barely tell anything was even done when he was completed with everything. True craftsman who understands how to work with old brick structures the right way to maintain the look and charm. Highly recommend.

Gary brought his years of experience as a mason to the re-building of my natural rock retaining wall. And his creativity made the new wall more beautiful and more functional. The existing wall had the rocks held together with mortar and the new wall is free standing to allow water to pass through. Great Job, Joel Alson

Gary is a true professional, we have him an unreasonably short timeframe to compete the job for a real estate transaction and he did a beautiful job and reasonably priced. He is the real deal mason.

Although the weather fought us for much of the summer causing the project to take longer than expected, the quality of workmanship and creativity in building the stone wall made it worth the wait. Gary also added little extra's like building steps down the wall, and in front of my shed. We were very pleased with the outcome of this project, we had multiple bids but Gary gave us the best value.

I haven’t actually worked with Gary yet....he’s going to build us a fireplace in a home we are buying in Ashland, NH. But I’m already extremely excited to work with him and feel comfortable with his knowledge and work record. I’ll fill out another review after October when the house has been bought and the work is, hopefully, finished.

Gary did an exterior chimney repair for me, in the middle of winter. He did high quality work; the new chimney section is barely noticeable. He was constrained by cold weather but he knew when to work and when not to, in order to ensure the integrity of the repair. He showed up when he said he would and cleaned up when he was finished. I would say he is a very good mason contractor.

Owner & Helper are great and were concerned about preventing a mess inside the house. I thought the price was high for the amount of time spent on the job. I had a firebox replaced an inside fireplace, the work is top notch.
