Peter is very, very good at what he does. He would think about what was needed about the area he was working on and would make it look a lot better than what it originally was. Everything he did, turned out exactly the way I wanted. Peter was very conscious about my satisfaction with everything that he did. I would highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Peter, the owner, did a lot of carpentry work.

Peter is a one-man show, subbing when needed, but in this case, he worked solo while we were on vacation. We had the neighbors keep watch, but they only mentioned that he'd worked late into the night. The hope was to redo the porch and be surprised by the new look when we came back from vacation. We came back a bit earlier than I'd planned (I mixed up my calendar), and Peter wasn't quite done, but only trim remained. It was amazing. Additionally, he'd found --and fixed, structural issues left over by the original builder (now out of business). He finished on Sunday. We happily wrote him a check. Well worth every penny. Peter is, I'm told, booked through the fall, but he's coming back in October to finish a home office project that I started about 10 years ago. I'm not a carpenter, I'm a computer guy, so you can imagine what he's getting himself into. That said, I'd recommend or rehire him in a second and would encourage you to as well (after he finishes my home office)! --Jeff
Description of Work: The front porch on our cape cod home was badly in need of repair and some redesign. We consulted Angie's List and found Peter Ohr. His pricing was slightly higher (~10%) than the other quotes, but in the end, we chose him because he simply seemed like the right fit (personality, professionalism, etc.). We're extremely happy we did.

Best such experience we've ever had. Peter Ohl is a master craftsman and takes pride in doing the best work possible, and it shows; his results are exceptional. Ohl worked most recently as a finish carpenter, but he is skilled at every stage of construction and more than ready to start from the ground up. We especially appreciated his eagerness to fit what turned out to be a bigger project than anyone had expected into our not-so-expandable budget. He always followed through on every part of the job, large or small. He is unbelievably responsive, responsible, helpful, and principled. He worked long, long hours and never failed to do what he said he would. He kept in close touch and explained every aspect of what he was doing. His aesthetics are great, and he is a really fine person to boot.
Description of Work: Removed the shingles, roof sheathing, and rotted out rafters, support beam, wall, and floor after major damage had left them exposed to the elements. Installed all new roof (shingles and sheathing), all new rim joists and floor joists and flooring, several rafters, part of wall and support beam. Reposted roof, removed closet, rebalanced doors, replaced trim, and installed gutters. Also installed new roll roofing and drip edge on porch roof.

Peter Ohl of Walnut Grove Renovations is a professional carpenter who takes the time to understand exactly what is needed. He is patient about explaining the problem he sees and what he plans to do to fix it. He ran a little behind because he decided to stop first for something extra for the project but called ahead to let us know. His work was beautiful and really improves the look of our front entrance as well as protecting our home from the elements. Would highly recommend!
Description of Work: Replaced a small rotted wood area at the front entrance of our home with a rain/snow barrier and wood and materials.
