 + 2 moreOverall it went very well. John responded to my phone call, arrived and bid the project punctually. The written bid was complete and still honored when I finally decided to go with the project months later. There was slight problem with the paint on the trim sticking together but John didn't do the painting, that was done by another service and they are remedying the problem. The team worked around our additional requests, crazy home office work, kids and dogs and kept the house as clean as humanly possible during the project. The work looks great!
Description of Work: Replaced all interior doors, floor and window trim and stair newel post/bannister.

Description of Work: update of kitchen, new cabinet fronts refinish of wood floors, new cabinetry.

 + -1 moreJohn and his son (the sidekick) were amazing to work with. At several points we asked John to tweak something in the project, or asked him to take on an additional task. He was always eager to help, unflappable and capable of tackling anything we asked of him. His craftsmanship is unparalleled and attention to detail is unbelievable. We appreciated his work ethic, reasonable prices and quality so much that we have contracted with him to replace all of the windows in our house. After John finished the job, we walked throughout the house and identified several other projects that we want him to do for us. I cannot stress how freeing it is to have a someone to call on for remodeling that: will not rip you off, will produce quality HIGHER than your expectations and will get the job done within OR LOWER than his estimate.
Description of Work: Built closets in two existing bedrooms that did not have built-it closets. Built a stair banister in a converted attic bedroom. Due to the odd pitch off the roof and the roof gables in the room, John had to manufacture the ballisters for the banister on the job site and custom fit them for the application. The finish quality of the banister is beyond anything I have seen or would be capable of, given infinite time and resources. The closets are well-built, sturdy, yet do not take away from the period styling of the rooms. Our house is 90 years old and has many period features. John has managed to balance modern construction technique and usefulness with a style and finish the blends with the room. In the attic bedroom (my 4-year-old's room), we had John remove an old bar sink fixture and install a nice, petite sink & vanity that we had purchased from the local hardware store. Much to our surprise, he had not only installed it and caulked it to the wall, he had also hooked up the plumbing and had running hot & cold water before the job was completed. This saved us time and money to have such a small job done by a plumber.
