Contacted Ellis to install complete HVAC system, Asked for information on the unites they sell as well on if they would install a unit we provided. The refused to provide a unit we provided stating they had done that before and wouldn't do it again. ( no other reason was given) In continuing the conversation I explained that we would require a brake down of parts vs labor so we could compare and see the services we were receiving as well as compare features of different units. They refused stating that would only provide one price and that's it, they would not break it down or even discuss other units and features vs there Trane unit. After explaining my position they stated that since we were using the internet for reserchan and getting multiple quotes that they didnt think they could work for us. Then backpedaled and stated he guessed he could come out and take a look if he got some time. I explained that he didn't need to bother there were plenty of other companies that would be more than willing to work with there customers and were not ashamed of the pricing they were charging to break it down for comparison. I am not used to this new mentality of if you are getting multiple quotes its not worth there time to come out and bid a job. They must know they are not the best or even reasonably priced? . Multiple quotes DOES NOT mean the lowest price wins, It is an opportunity for the customer (ME) to interview the installer and evaluate product and service. Well sometimes all it takes is a phone call, In my opinion this review speaks for the service or lack of it that you would receive from this company. In closing I will say they did answer their phone and take the time to talk to us however we need to update our business strategy and realize there is a new Informed consumer that is a little more fruggle with their money.
Description of Work: This company was contacted to install an HVAC system including all new duct work throughout the basement, 1st and 2nd floors of a home we are completely remodeling.

Customer wanted to buy material on Internet and we install. We do not have very positive experiences with warranties or materials in these cases so we do not get involved. Do they buy tires at big box stores and have local small town station install them? Support you small town business. Also, all business owners have right to refuse service to or fire customers. We chose not to be involved in this situation with this customer because we try to advise to our customers best interest and they already thought they knew more than we did so I stated they should do job themselves. Why did I avoid this customer? I just talked to her on phone and here I am defending myself. Bad customer to get involved with.

called and talked to the proprietor telling him the pipes were thawed. we had a possible winter storm coming in for the next 2 days, i told him i could haul water until that event was over and left it at that, thinking he would contact me. never happened. i was extremely disappointed as i had used this contractor once previously with good results. my take is: if he's too busy to take on a job, the least he could do is call and say so--it's called "follow-up" on contacts. it also seemed to me initially, that if i was be paying for their services, THEY should be thawing the pipes--not asking me if i had a heat lamp/knew someone with a propane heater, etc. i live in an fairly rural area, but my retired plumber just set up a propane heater the one time he thought it might be of help. oh well...
Description of Work: i called them about frozen water pipes, 2 guys came out that same day, told me until the pipes were thawed they couldn't fix them (can't tell where the leak is unless it's leaking). this was reasonable to me, so i rigged a heat lamp, thawed the pipes.

The complete underside of trailer house was ice. Not winterized and would have froze again. Did not believe customer would be able to pay and my men have to be paid.
