Sand W had originally installed the fence about 3 to 5 years back. And they did a nice job at that time. Nothing they did then caused this new problem. It's just that the fence sometimes needs to be reset after lightening strikes anywhere in the surrounding area or after electrical outages and I figure that I caused this problem during the last of those resets when I took the cover off the control mechanism box. I probably put it back on incorrectly and would guess that was the source of everything that followed. What Sand W found was that the gear reducer was broken due to a cable being wrapped around it. The new gear reducer and antenna cost $425.00. The associated labor cost $347. With tax that got me to about $800. The only issue I have with those prices is that the first time I heard them was when I got the bill in the mail. It would have been less shocking to have known that ahead of time. But there was no estimate provided nor was there any advance notification. So it was a surprise. The problem was exasperated by Sand W's lack of responsiveness. I started calling them in early August and there were multiple promises made about when a technician would show up for the job. To my knowledge no one ever showed up despite repeated attempts on my part. Later I found out Sand Ws electrician probably did show up to evaluate the problem, but no one told me about that at the time. On Saturday September 3rd, Mike Welniak who I've been told is the owner, called me and told me the part was in and his electrician was working a job at the airport and would be out some afternoon when he finishes up there. So I chose to wait instead of getting another company to do the job. But, having waited so long already I began to log our communications on my calendar. On Tuesday 9/13 I called Sand W back to find out what was going on since no one had showed up yet. Mike said his electrician would be there yet this week. In fact, I believe the job was actually completed on Tuesday 9/20 after what seemed to have been forever. The bill is dated 9/23. So punctuality and communication appear to be quite a problem for Sand W. On the other hand, the person/electrician I spoke with seems to have done a fine job. He worked quickly and, with me watching, tested out the functions of the gate. It all worked fine and has continued to do so since. Kudos for that. A standard great job. I just wish there had been better communication along the way. That's the only real complaint I have. But I guess there's been a ton of work around the area lately and it must be easy for everyone to get a bit behind. If we do business again I will be sure to stay right on top of the schedule to make sure Sand W doesn't miss dates.

Same basic story as previous 2 reviewers. We were recommended this company by our neighbors. We actually did get them on the phone early in the week, and they assured us they would provide an estimate in the next day or 2. We were ready to just have it done; it is THEIR procedure to come out and do an estimate. At the end of the week they had done no estimate, nor had they called us back. Subsequent attempts to reach them by telephone were unsuccessful. Either they are indeed going out of business or their important clients have other ways of reaching them for service.

I agree with a previous reviewer... left msgs on their voicemail and never received a return phone call. Obviously didn't need my business so I went elsewhere!

With one estimate in hand, I called this company on a friend-of-a-friend's recommendation. They took a message and never called back. In a week, I called again. They took another message and never called me back. They are not interested in remaining in business, apparently.

They first put in the footings for the post and had to let them set for a few days. They then came back to finish the rest of the fence. They were very professional in their work. It took them about 3 weeks to complete their job. I thought the fence turned out good.

Though S and W Fence Company was very prompt and courteous, I did not find their work to be professional. When I took bids for this job they stated on their bid that they would use new wood to replace the fence with. Some of the wood they used was new and some was not new. The job was not well done, and I felt that they did not fulfill the contract that we signed. I was not at all happy with the job.

We wanted to go with a different look in our back yard so we hired them. I felt they did the work in a timely manner. They broke a sprinkler head, but they took the responsibility and fixed it right there and then. We were amazed at their honesty and workmanship.

We have been very pleased with the way our fence has held up. We felt that this company did a very good job of putting in our fence. They were very thorough with their work, and our fence has held up just beautifully since they put it in.

They impressed me with their work and they were really fast. I didn't expect it to go so smoothly and the quality of work was great. The wood they used was of good quality also. We were very pleased with the ending results and we have not had to call them back out for problems. They were very trustworthy people to be out doing our work.

S and W Fence Company had a really good service. They were very prompt and courteous to us. They cleaned up after themselves when they were done. They had the work done the same day they came out.
