Power Crew responded to the request within minutes and sent a team the next day. They were not familiar with the Smart Switches, and I had provided documentation and the results of my personal research - thinking I just needed a skilled electrician to confirm the research and spend an hour or so installing 4 switches. When they came they first wanted to inspect my breaker panel. The estimate for the job came in at nearly $400, and they came up with another $5,126 worth of work to recommend on the breaker panel. They acknowledged no experience with these smart switches. I can't rule on the validity of the suggested panel work other than to say the panel passed inspection by a licensed electrician and the city when the basement was remodeled a few years back on this 25 year-old home. I declined the estimate, so have no facts concerning quality of work. I did the work myself using the results of my research and it took 1.5 hours. I paid no money.
Description of Work: I looked for an Electrician on Angies to come help me replace 2 sets of 3-way light switches with GE Z-Wave smart switches.

I hired Power Crew after I received two other cost estimates to install two additional electrical outlets in my garage. They came prepared as scheduled and performed the work on the spot after I accepted their bid. They even performed a thorough cursory check of my breaker box to ensure everything was safe and up to code. To be honest, I was a bit hesitant to hire this company because of the mixed reviews I read on Home Advisor, but I decided to give them chance; I wasn't disappointed. The technicians were polite, knowledgeable and did a great job, start to finish. I also received a follow up call from their office to check on the services performed. I will hire again when I need electrical service; highly recommend.

If I could give them a 0 I would. Absolute nightmare. Austin over charged us and lied to us, Jason the general manager yelled at me on the phone when I called to ask about the bill and then HUNG UP ON ME like a teenager. They say they have a 100% money back guarantee which is never given to you in writing so they don't back it up. All I wanted was someone to do quality electrical work at the price I was quoted, and to be honest with me. NONE of those things happened. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone!!!!! Listen to the other 1 star reviews as well!!!! AWFUL I have filed a complaint with the BBB.

A woman in her twenties writes a review like that and expects the public to believe it's not one sided and she has no part in any blame. Trying to not pay for your bill is stealing. It's a typical dine and dash. The moral fiber that her and her partner have must be very thin. In the twenty plus years serving this community, it's a shame to see all of the trendy ways people try to get out of paying their bill nowadays. Calling multiple times & harassing our staff with constant rude & interrupting script is no way to handle things. Our staff works very hard at handling situations before a line is drawn that a problem customer crosses. It's the one on the other end that has an agenda when three reviews pop up within seconds after a General Manger has to step in and literally explain how the step-by-step process was followed.

I've used these folks a number of times and will do so again. The electrician who arrived and did the work was everything you want and probably more than you would expect. He quickly sized up the problem, was very friendly and patient with my 95 year old father-in-law, knew what he was doing and did an excellent job of putting in a new unit for Dad and I. It has worked without problem since it was installed almost 5 years ago. Couldn't ask for a better job or person.
Description of Work: They replaced a small electric wall mounted space heater in an add-on room in my house. The room was used by my father-in-law and did not have central heat. This was in January of 2013.

I was completely satisfied. Power Crew is a highly qualified professional company. Jason Amato and his employees were prompt, courteous, and responsive to all questions. I received a written report for my records. They inspected all areas in and around my house to find any current or potential electrical problems and then suggested solutions. I can depend on Power Crew for the care and maintenance of all electrical connections in my home.
Description of Work: I regularly have Power Crew come to do a complete check of my electrical outlets with upgrading and with correcting of current and potential dangers. I had 11 smoke alarms installed. I once had a flickering light that I thought was merely annoying. Inspection showed that the wiring was faulty and could have caused a fire that might have destroyed my house. Money is well spent when I understand the electrical safety is the goal of the company and when I can be assured that my home and occupants are safe.

This an update to my previous review. It has been 3 weeks since I reached out to them regarding my concerns. I have not received any communication from them. They still haven't picked up the certified letter that I sent over 2 weeks ago. I have been blocked on facebook after writing a review. They are publically referring to me a "bad apple" and "less than classy". They are also begging friends and family for positive reviews and offering a discount. Usually silence is the best admission of guilt. They are now saying that I was not a customer because I do not own the home they did work on. I am renting to own it from my mom. They also are saying that we do not have the credit to buy a home and that they checked us out. 1. I wasn't aware companies run credit checks on customers who are not financing anything through them. 2. My name is on the invoice, so how can they say that I was not a customer. 3. The money used to pay for the service came from myself, my husband, and my mother. Therefore we are all paying customers.

Some customers try and paint a picture to make the company look bad. This isn't about a permit or a second company. The truth is this customer had his power shut off by the power company and did not want to pay for the proper recommendations we suggested. He also wrote us a check that bounced. A bad check is a criminal offense. We tried to make the repairs affordable and he still writes us a review like this. It's sad that the hard work our technicians put in to help this guy goes under appreciated.

Our house is 98 years old, and at some point the kitchen had a set of awful four-foot fluorescent tube lights installed. We wanted to replace those with recessed lights, so we contacted Power Crew for an estimate. Michael came and looked things over, and gave us a very reasonable quote for installation (with the cost of parts included). We agreed to it, and when the day came he arrived and worked with us on the exact placement of the lights (having to work around the quirks of our house). When he started to drill holes in the ceiling, he found that an air duct had been installed, and it didn't leave enough room for the cans. He discussed some alternative like track lights with us and wrote a new estimate, and left so we could talk it over. He was really nice and professional. We didn't want track lights, so we did some research and found a new kind of surface-mount LED light which is very compact and can be installed into a normal ceiling box. We called Power Crew again and this time Jason came to do the work. There was a bit of a mix-up, as he thought we still wanted track lighting, but when we showed him the lights we'd found, he was very receptive to the idea. He experimented with the lights a little and found they're installed using spring clips, and it takes a fair amount of force to mount them or remove them, so the ceiling boxes would need to be pretty solid. He examined our ceiling again and took some photos, and asked if he could take one of the lights to the shop and mock up an installation of it so he could get it right in our kitchen. We were ready a couple of weeks later, and he returned with the proper boxes to install (he had contacted the manufacturer's engineers to find which ones they recommended). He worked all day, and even though it was a tricky situation, he was able to install all five lights properly, including a smaller box to terminate the old wiring above one of them. It's not possible to install the lights perfectly flush with the ceiling, but he noticed a tube of caulk we had from another project and asked if he could use it to caulk the gap between the light fixtures and the ceiling. Jason was also extremely nice and professional, very engaged during the entire project, and obviously very invested in doing it right and giving us the best results possible even though our house made it a challenge. We couldn't be happier with the service, and we would recommend him and Power Crew to anyone.

Power Crew has UNETHICAL business practices. I was quoted for a replacement of my breaker panel. The technician told me it would take a week to get an appointment. I informed him that I would have to look at going with another company, I had an open house in 2 days and needed the work performed before then. He then scheduled me in on a Sunday which I thought was very nice. However Sunday morning, the day of my open house came and he was a NO SHOW at the time he specified. He called an hour and 15 minutes later, due to his TARDINESS we were not able to get it installed that day. When we tried to cancel with them they told us "We don't do refunds" they are keeping $465 for work they never performed. Their website boasts 100% customer satisfaction or a complete refund, THAT IS A LIE. Be very careful if you work with this company. I have not been able to speak to a manager, and now they are completely avoiding my phone calls. Their website explicitly states "If our clients are not 100% satisfied with the service we have provided, we will refund all of their money." However, I am not 100% satisfied, and Power Crew has refused to refund my money. Now I have to dispute the claim with the credit card company, and possibly file a small claims suit. They have wasted so much of my time.
Description of Work: Gave bid for work, took down payment. Did not show up on time, kept deposit even though no work was performed.

Unfortunately [Member Name Removed] has completely misrepresented our company & our experience with him would suggest he lacks significant maturity. He is a troubled individual in his twenties and does not know how to respect the time or process of a professional organization. We had a lot of trouble dealing with him and he did not take in to account any respect for our time. That is truly unfortunate. We train our technicians to the highest standards and debrief them after every job. The technician presented all of the options before the work was completed and the customer selected the option that was best for him. He knew the exact cost down to the penney before authorization. It is very hard to find technicians in the trades who have a clean criminal record & driving history. We chose family oriented technicians and only select a small percentage of the applicants. To retain technicians that meet these high standards we must take care of them and they do get compensated fairly. We have been blessed to have many customers express their praise for our services over the years and continue to train hard to keep them happy.

The initial review went well and was not surprised by the results found based upon the age of the house (built 1961) and the electrical that was within. We knew we wanted to get more peace of mind by having as much done without having to rewire the entire house. Knowing we will be in the house for a long time, we bit bullet and have a lot of work done. In terms of service, the technician was very personable and easy to talk to. In terms of the quality of work that was performed, my opinion is that it was severely lacking. Reasons for this opinion are as follows: 1) Cleanliness a. Technician did not wear booties or even ask if he should take off his shoes. b. Greasy hand prints left on our newly painted walls from him while replacing outlets throughout the house. c. The little metal tabs that are on the outlet screws were randomly left on the floor throughout the house. With little kids, 2 cats, and 1 dog, we were very concerned that one could have been stepped on or ingested. d. Outlets were replaced in our bedroom, and when we came home that evening, all the old outlets and wiring were left in a pile in the middle of the floor. 2) Quality of Work a. We have a deep freeze and extra fridge in the basement of our home. While replacing the outlets, he failed to plug the deep freeze back in! Luckily we found this less than 48 hours after it occurred and the temp was still OK. The outlet that our fridge was plugged in, was not working at all. So I had to run an extension cord to another working outlet until he returned. When I asked about this outlet, he said he didn't even check the outlet before he replaced it again, as to why it wasn't working the first time. b. Doing some troubleshooting for an outdoor light that kept blowing the circuit, he told me he fixed it 3 different times. However, every night when we got home and tested, it did the exact same thing it did before he worked on it. Work is complete and outdoor light is still not working properly. They stated they would have to charge even more to try and give a better diagnosis and "fix it" (even though it was supposedly fixed three times already) c. While installing a new electrical panel, he disconnected our land line phone lines. After putting in the new panel, he failed to reconnect the phone lines back up. When I asked about this, the response was "I didn't realize you had a home line". Who cares if I do or not?!?! If it was hooked up before, why not put everything back better than it was before! And we do have a land line phone. If he would have looked around, he may have noticed 1 of the 6 phones we have in our house! When he returned to fix the phone lines, he informed us that he can't get it working again, and we would have to call our phone call provider. We were dreading having another contractor in house to do more work given this experience. However, the technician for the phone/cable company was outstanding and went above and beyond to not only fix what was broken, but proceeded to fix and/or enhance other aspects of our phone/internet to make the signal even stronger. And they charged us nothing! d. We have a small window in our basement near the electrical panel the technician was using while installing the new panel and upgrading all our outdoor wiring. When we was complete, he closed this window and the glass pane broke. This wasn't a huge deal to me. Easy fix. But when he told me about it, his first response was "so I'm not sure what we're going to do about this". Really, you're not sure?! I was pretty sure what was going to happen...they would be fixing it free of charge! It took a week, but it was finally fixed on their dime. My issue with this whole window ordeal was the first response. Not the appropriate way to respond to that issue. In total, we are glad that the work is done and hopefully won't have to bring in another electrician for a long time! We chose Power Crew based upon their great ratings here on Angie's List. However, I am disappointed in the overall service that we received and we will not be using this company again.
Description of Work: Started with an all-house electrical analysis. Based upon the age of our house and the findings from the review, we had them: 1) Replace all outlets and switches in the house 2) Bring our electrical up to current code from the panel to outside hookup 3) Installed a new circuit breaker 4) Troubleshoot an electrical circuit that was not working properly

We would also like to take this moment to address the concerns for the readers. We made another trip out to this home after the review date at which that time the homeowner expressed his happiness with our company representative. The homeowner was very thankful and appreciative during that follow up visit. The follow up visit was for a separate matter and none of the issues written were brought up by the homeowner. The latter company representative that came out was very thorough and even repaired a problem with the original wiring. It appears that the homeowner may have been distraught when writing the review because none of what was written reflected the emotions of the latter visit or any of the previous comments we have received from other homeowners. We have a very diligent hiring process in our company and only select the few elite that stand out. Our technicians are background checked for criminal history and driving history. They also undergo random drug testing and are trained to respect the customer's home. We wear shoe covers and the previous reviews do reflect that in other customer comments. There are times when the flooring can present a challenge or safety issue, such as on hard flooring. Our company also earned the Angies's List Super Service Award for 2015 for reaching the required amount of positive reviews with a high rating. Only the top 5% of contractors reach that accomplishment we are told. We care deeply for our customers and for the safety of their families.

They were amazing! We got things fixed that they found during the inspection. Scheduling was easy and communication was wonderful. We are definitely planning to use Power Crew again!

I used Power Crew. I used them within this last month. They were excellent, the only thing is is your website when it says it's a $99 for them to come check or whatever, it does not say that you will also be charged a service fee and your website does not say that. He went back and looked at the deal and said, wait a minute, this was suppose to say in addition to a service call. I absolutely would use them in the future and as a matter of fact I got a 2 year contract with them.

The whole project went well. We found the Power Crew on Angie's List. The young man servicing our home quickly identified the problems and fixed what need to get fixed. He was timely, friendly and kept his workspace clean throughout the service call. This was a wonderful experience (in spite of finding out just how dangerous an older home can be!). Jason is extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and willing to work with home owners to improve their understanding and safety. He and his crew spent three days in our home, and it was the most pleasant experience with contractors that we've ever had. We are new to Omaha, and he even shared recommendations for places to eat! If you're looking for a professional electrician who cares about the people he works for, Jason and Power Crew are the ones for you!
Description of Work: Jason and his crew came to our home, assessed our needs, and then worked with our *very tight* budget to get our home as safe as possible. We got a new electrical panel, whole-house grounding, surge protection, and they changed our two-prong outlets to three-prong outlets.

We got an after hours emergency service request for no air conditioning during the summer.. We answered the phone after 6:30pm. The technician on call was eating dinner with his family but was ready to be dispatched and arrived on the job within the hour. Our company not only got the air conditioning back on but also located a junction box that contained wires that had been shorted out and were burned to a crisp. The wires caught fire at one previous point and had burn marks on the floor joists that was visible from the unfinished basement. We brought this to the consumer's attention, provided a couple options, and quickly made the repairs that evening. The consumer thanked us repeatedly and referenced the rapid response time for an after hours visit as "very impressive".

I want to talk about how wonderful it was for work with Power Crew for the five times they visited my house in November and December of 2014. I've been dealing with quite a few companies due to issues within my attic and because of Angie's List I've dealt with some pretty great people and companies that treat me like a human and not a job. I was a human with Power Crew. I was treated fairly; I was told, showed, and even had written explanations of what I was paying for, what they were doing and what I can do to better my home in the future. I also had other companies come out to give me quotes and no one could beat their price. Jason Amato first came to my house for a walkthrough/bid and he was there for about an hour. Most of it was us talking about what would be done after he spent 15 minutes walking through the house writing down all that he would need to do for the actual visit. He is very informed and, something I think is key, he loves to do this. He loves to talk about what he knows (and he knows his stuff), he loves to give insight and advice on how to make your house better and even more cost effective with heat and electrical. The actual repairs were done two weeks later. They replaced 5 canned lights that were improperly wired, and installed new trim. Something I'd like to point out now is that the new trim was vacuum sealed. I love these new lights the most as it's now helped keep my kitchen and living room warmer and is helping me keep heat in the house for a minimal cost! They also rewired the remaining lights including fans that were not correctly attached so they are safer in an electrical standpoint along with just being safer in the rooms they are in. On the second day they put in the new Electrical Panel, new light fixture and new door bell. One thing that was so wonderful was throughout this whole time, when I asked, they would tell me what they were doing and why they were doing it. They'd joke and talk with me while I got ready for work and the even put up with my little dog who was nervous and wouldn't stop yapping. They were kind to her and tried calming her down. It didn't work but they still put up with her. When they were done there was a list for me on what I can do to make the Panel 100% what it needs to be for inspection, and I plan on using them to get there. There was a breakdown of all the work they did for me and Jason walked me through everything again as there were add-ons that he'd called me about throughout their time at my house. He showed me how to work the new panel, what happens when the surge protector pops and what I'd need to do after. Everything came out great, Jason even took time the next morning to come out and fix something that I'd broke. I have more to do next year and plan on using them. I've recommended them to family already, and I would highly recommend them to you the reader.
Description of Work: Rewiring of all main floor lighting, including installation of new cans and trim, a new light fixture and a new door bell. Also the installation of a new Electrical Panel Replacement with Surge Protection. They also provided a great three days of labor, insight and kindness!

After initially responding with interest to my Angie's List query "Thanks for contacting us. Yes, we can definitely handle your project...You can also contact us at (phone, email, website)" and claiming to be available in the very near future "near the end of next week or the following week," the Power Crew failed to respond at all to subsequent e-mails and voice mails trying to schedule an appointment.

Set up a quote via their website. Nobody ever showed up. Called back later in the week to try to reschedule. Individual I got on the phone claimed they showed up and then wanted to argue about it for ten minutes instead of rescheduling to come out to look at it. Told him more than once I wan't interested in arguing if they came out or not, that I just wanted to reschedule for someone to come out and give me a quote on the work. Individual decided to keep on arguing and refused to let me speak, so I ended up hanging up on him. Simply unprofessional and more concerned about being right instead of providing good service. I would suggest you send your business elsewhere.

We did not do any work at this job and the grading is irrelevant. We responded to an online appointment request. We gave a pre arrival call and there was no answer. We left a detailed voice message. We showed up on time. We knocked and rang the doorbell and there was no answer. Checked the paperwork to confirm the address and confirmed correct on the house number. The whole thing was a little odd so we even took a picture of the front of the house. It is a tan house with blue trim and four front windows. The house has a front porch with a gas can, trash can, shoes, bench swing, and table on it. The entire Member Comments is false right down to the ten minute phone call. On Friday, August 8th, at 2:02pm we had a call that lasted two minutes and the man denied he missed our appointment and also denied he received a phone call for pre arrival even though our call log had the same number confirmed on caller ID.

Everything went fine. My old fuse box had been cutting out regularly and there had to be shorts just waiting to cause problems. So I called and they recommended replacing the entire panel. I agreed. The technician did a great job and checked around all over the house to make sure everything was working correctly. No problems of any kind since and it is now July of 2014. There is a problem with their follow-up on their Protection Plan promise to "every year, we will return to your home to perform a complete electrical protection inspection to spot any new problem areas before they become a hazard." I'm not sure they ever initiated a follow-up on this at all. But, again, they did a fine job when they were here.
Description of Work: Replaced an old fuse box panel, Relabled the new panel. Added two smoke detectors. Replaced a GFI switch. And sold me a Protection Plan.

The discount system is good for up to one year after your inspection on the date of your original invoice. The Home Protection Plan was not meant to be some annual follow up to come out once every year and try to do new work, but we would be willing to do that if that is what you would like. Some customers are tired of annual plans that are gimmicks and we don't want our plan in that category. We actually perform an inspection and prioritize recommendations for a little investment just over a hundred dollars. We can't come out every year for that initial investment so we choose to let the customers contact us when they want to address the other priorities. It has been working out great for us and we hear good things first hand from many customers how they feel they actually get something for their money instead of another annual maintenance plans. If you feel your technician didn't fully do a thorough job performing the inspection or explaining the recommendations we would be happy to come back out and fulfill those needs.

The date on this review is just a guess because I can't find a date on the bill. It is sometime during the winter of 2013/2014. The work was done very well and very professionally as it always is. Absolutely no problems whatever. The technician was friendly and personable and easy to work with. And the heater purchased has worked just fine throughout last winter. However, for some reason there was no discount on this bill although there was a standard $69 "Travel and Dispatch" fee. I guess I would tell future customers to never purchase the Protection Plan as it doesn't seem to have any value. They don't follow-up annually as they say they will and sometimes the discount doesn't apply. That's why I rated them low in the cost category. I may have forgotten to mention the Protection Plan last trip, but I think they also should be aware of it.
