I bought a home July 2012, which was built by Paradise Builders 10 years ago. Thinking 10 years isn't an old home, we were pretty certain we wouldn't have to do much to the home. The roof was re-shingled and we thought since there were old yellowed stains on the ceilings and walls, the problem was taken care of. Unfortunately, we had water leaking down our walls once the drought was over and Spring 2013 came. I hired a good contractor and he found ALL the windows were defective. They were installed with no weather stripping on the sides. He showed us the windows after they had pulled them out. I saw first hand that they were indeed without the weather stripping needed to keep out water. We have 28 windows that have to be either replaced or fixed. We had substantial damage done to the siding because of water damage. I was hopeful that since Paradise Builders have been around a while, they would stand behind their product. I know it was no longer under warranty, but under these unusual circumstances, I thought at least they would offer to help us out. I cannot believe that this house was able to pass code! I feel cheated and have had to spend my savings on this home that I initially paid full market value for. This seems unethical to me that anyone can build a home and get by with putting in and selling defective windows! I thank you for publishing this. I would never want anyone to go through what we have had to go through.
