Paradise Heating & Cooling

Everything went great. Prompt, friendly and professional. Installation went as he said (Fred). Cleaned up and hauled away old AC and furnace. Price was very competitive with 4 other estimates I received. I went with Goodman AC and furnace. Instead of installing the minimum required by federal government, 13 seer, I chose to upgrade to a 14 seer. I purchased a high efficiency 80% 2 stage gas furnace with 100,000 BTU's and a 5 ton blower. Also went with a new top-tech programmable digital thermostat with automatic changeover between heating and cooling. Works great in the Midwest when the seasons start to change. We had the AC mounted on a 42" bracket outside to keep it level at all times and off of our landscape. 10 year manufacture, 5 year parts and 1 year labor warranty. Updated 3/6/15: The thermostat quit working last winter in 2014. Fred came out and replaced it right away (it was still under warranty). This winter, 2015, the thermostat quit working again, and again Fred came out and replaced it right away (still under warranty) If the thermostat quits again, he said he will go with a different brand the next time, But, maybe there won't be a next time. Still happy customer.

PARADISE HEATING AND COOLING GETS TWO THUMBS UP FROM US! Paradise was recommended to us by a very intelligent and savvy friend who had used their services for a complete HVAC replacement 5 years ago, and is super happy with the job they did. The estimator (also the head of the company) arrived on time. He was personable, thorough, knowledgeble, and patient with our many questions. We have an academic background in thermodynamics and heat transfer, and had many nerdy questions, but he was willing to stay as long as we needed him to stay. He worked through his own dinner hour! He took one look at our 25 year old Bryant builder's-grade furnace and told us it was not only in horrible condition, but was unsafe to operate. Then he carefully and patiently showed us exactly why he assessed it that way, showing us the poor combustion taking place in the deteriorated burners, and the long term damage done by years of poor, inefficient combustion. He pointed out the poor design of the 25 year old system that did not allow for enough air flow, and explained how all that could be improved drastically with a new furnace. After a thorough furnace inspection/assessment, he did the same with our air conditioner, which was also as old as the house and in sore need of replacement. Our A/C was practically being held together with "bailing wire and duct tape" as we had several stop-gap repairs done using a home warranty for several years. Some of those repairs had not even been done with properly matched parts! It was grossly inefficient, as evidenced by our power bills the last few years. The Paradise man again educated us, patiently answering every question we had and providing good advice. After looking at the A/C, he sat at our table and discussed the situation until we had no more questions, never even looking at his watch! He is a very patient man, as we had many questions and took up a lot of his time. He worked hard to assess our needs and wants, educating us as to what would be the best choices for our house in his very experienced opinion. HE NEVER TRIED TO SELL US WHAT WE DIDN'T NEED, which we greatly appreciated. He just laid out the facts and provided available options, fairly representing what they would cost. After some phone calls back and forth to address follow up questions, Paradise sent us a thourough estimate via email which accurately reflected everything we discussed. The equipment they offered was good quality, well-matched to our house, and of excellent capacity for both heating and cooling. THEIR PRICE WAS THE LOWEST OF ALL THE PROPOSALS WE RECEIVED. We would also like to point out that the Paradise man made it clear that if money was an issue, he could just repair the furnace to working order for far less $$ than total replacement would cost, which we considered. Of course, that would leave us with the same inherent problems in the 25 year old builder's grade HVAC, so we opted for full replacement. We usually do a lot a research when spending lots of money like this, so we started to dig after the Paradise estimate. We quickly found that everything he said was true. He really knows his stuff! Wanting to take advantage of the off-season prices offered throughout the HVAC industry, we got 8 different proposals for a complete HVAC replacement with new high efficiency equipment. Unfortunately, due to some unique situational requirements, the Paradise bid came in 2nd place. Had our situation been a little different, we would have chosen Paradise in a heartbeat. FOR MOST SITUATIONS, IT WOULD BE HARD TO BEAT THE VALUE OFFERED BY PARADISE HEATING AND COOLING! WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM WITHOUT HESITATION! Again, we had a unique situation and felt compelled to go with another bid, but had things been only a little different, we would have hired Paradise.

We were having trouble with an older AC unit that turned out to be mismatched with the furnace installed when our house was built in 1995. The AC unit could have been repaired but was likely to need further repair so we decided to replace the unit. When checking the furnace for the new coil found that the blower was also was mismatched with the furnace. Replaced furnace, blower and AC unit with for a more efficient unit. I had some of this information before having Fred come out and he explained all of the options, none of which were cheap but that needed to be done. He did not pressure us for any additional items and was very thorough in the work he performed. The efficiency of the unit has lived up to what he said we should expect. Electrical consumption dropped about 40% and gas dropped about 20% since installation. Both compared with comparable summers and winters. Also with this system we solved several cold/hot spots in the house due to the improved air flow. This work was done in the 2nd week of June 2007. Fred Piccolo used to work for Piccolo Heating & AC but has started his own company so as to concentrate only on Heating and AC and to regulate the amount of time spent working.
