Not good. No written estimate provided despite request for same. Based on phone conversation and quote, I gave go-ahead for mid-June but expected prior consultation before work began. - Quality of work was OK but I did not get the chance to express preferences as to how the work was to be done. Result was durable but lost "natural" feel of original work. May have been the right choice technically but I lacked the opportunity to express my view. - Waste material was left in front of home in plain sight for days before being picked up. - When invoice was received, it was for $1800 rather than the "$1500 to $1600" discussed on the phone. I split the difference and mailed a check for $1550. I am not sure how the contractor will react, but I am not pleased with the off-hand way this work was carried out.
Description of Work: Remove flagstones from cement base on front porch. Replace using grout and cement.

I knew my chimney was in desperate need of repair and the last company I called didn't even bother to get up on the roof and look at it.Driving home from work I saw a sign for Matney Masonry and they were working on a very complicated, beautiful chimney. I stopped to get a card and the young man was very polite. I was contacted with in one working day of leaving a message, He came out and looked at the chimney, told me what was needed to pass code . While the price was higher than the previous bid, I felt much more comfortable that Matney would do a quality job and they did. The whole chimney and insert had to be redone. He matched the brick very closely to the original. Great experience, the chimney looks great. I will be calling him for other work.
Description of Work: My chimney was crumbling and I needed a new insert as well. Matney took the chimney down and rebuilt it completely, matching the brick very closely to the original. A new insert was installed as well. Chimney was brought up to code. There was no mess left behind and work was done on time and quickly.
