in 2012 LaHood installed my roof. A few years later I replaced my drafty old windows. After that I noticed that my house was full of condensation. I had to have fans running and windows open all Winter. I also noticed mold growing on my basement walls and around my windows. I had another company come and check my roof and they discovered that my roof had not been ventilated. The vents had been installed right over insulation, which had turned black with mold. It cost me over $4000 to fix the problem, and it made me sick. DO NOT use this company. They damaged my house and my health.

The work was terrible, as Angie's List had to get involved after I tried with La Hood and the subcontractor who actually came and looked at the rework and promised twice to come back but did not, even after being called more than once. Then as stated, in 2015 when a new second roof was put on; the tear off revealed there was no flashing installed in 2011. All I can conclude from this horrific experience is buyer beware and thankful that I did not recommend them to anyone else.
Description of Work: After the storm in 2011, I found LaHood on Angie's list. By November, I thought Id done enough research to give them the job to repair my roof. They had a huge issue with the price the insurance company said they should roof for. After standing my ground, they agreed. I had issues in the spring with tiles not laying proper. To shorten the story after calling them and then having to deal with the subcontractor who was very unprofessional, I had to contact Angie's list. Had it not been for Angie's List, I don't think I would have gotten the issue resolved. Then just when I thought I was cleared, we get the 2014 storm which totaled my roof, again. This is when I find out from the roofer with a very high reputation and doing work for lots and lots of insurance clients with my insurance company; La Hood subcontractors did not put flashing on my roof that I paid for as listed in and part of the contract. I was once again in shock. This roof was done in October of 2015, but the roof La Hood did only had a 3 year warranty which the roofer said is not industry norm. He said its at least 5 years. So they got me twice but I hope this will alert others who use La Hood or any other company to have somebody follow up on top of your roof to make sure you are getting code and what you are paying for. The second roof was topped with impact resistant shingles which requires the roofer to fill out a form for the insurance company stating that they installed the class 3 or 4 for your homeowner insurance discount. Anything not to code or negligent will certainly fall on the contractor because of the verifying of the work on the form.

Very unprofessional. I paid for flashing replacement that wasn't put on. However, I didn't know this until the roof was replaced again in 2015. The roofer brought this to my attention. The roof done by La Hood was estimated overprice and I found out by calling the insurance company for approval and told they were overcharging. The information set off a storm with threats to charge me for roofing tiles that had sat on my roof for two weeks if I backed out of their contract which said the contract was void until all parties were in agreement. Then the subcontractor was horrible. I had tiles that wouldn't lay flat. Calls to La Hood, who called the contractor went unattended by the contractor until I contacted Angie's List who wrote a letter to La Hood with the complaint. It was only then that La Hood marched the guy to my home and sat until her made the repairs. The time lapse and work to get things straight was and F customer service, followed by finding out that the work was incomplete by the roofer who replaced the roof and showed me there was no flashing installed. I also found out the roof was only warranted for 3 years, but was told it should have carried a minimum of 5. If you deal wit this company be sure to dot you Price and their Work. Get a second trust worthy party to check your roof to make sure you are getting what you paid for. Had it not been for Angie's List, I'm sure I would have had legal problems since the Mike Carolous was unhappy that I took the advice on the price from my insurance company.

Quality work, done in a timely matter, and at price based on insurance allowance. Dominic was in regular communication with us and was responsive to calls. Throughout the process he asked us if we were satisfied or if they needed to do anything else to meet our satisfaction. I would recommend this company to others without reservation. They're not the cheapest, but we had cheap work done the last time we replaced a roof and the result was less than satisfactory.

Everone associated with this project was knowlegeable and professional. they answered all my questions, showed up on time and completed the job on schedule. This was the second roofing company I had contacted. I did not like the first company's "hard sell" approach. LaHood examined my roof and offered me options for roofing materials. The crew who did the work was very diligent and competent. Clean up was also thorough.
Description of Work: LaHood completely replaced my roof, installed a new skylight and two ridge vents. I also had a gutter/downspot problem which they (through a subcontractor) resolved.

I called for a estimate on a roofing job and help with my ins. company. Mike was very eager and promised all kinds of help and that was it...after two or 3 phone calls he never called back and never prepared a bid. It was all talk and no walk. In response. to Mike's comment. It's called communication. If you say you're going to do something and you don't at least communicate why you can't

Member, We met 3 times and I reviewed all of your insurance documents, numerous bids from roofing companies and your paperwork from the Texas consulting company. I had empathy for your unique problem as the company you allowed to temporarily repair your roof nailed through slate shingles. (BAD BAD decision) I did meet with your insurance company to address storm damage to your home. I was willing to try and help you repair the damage which was caused by the roofing company who nailed 2x4's through your slate shingles and caused your roof to leak. I charged nothing for meeting with your adjuster and 3 trips consulting with you as well as reviewing all your bids from other companies and consultants. Sorry I took a Saturday off to be with my family which resulted in your frustration. I try to build trust with all of our customers, I also owe insurance carriers honesty and full disclosure as we maintain the high ethical principals this company was built on. I wish you well with your repairs to your home.

I phoned LaHood Construction to replace the roof on the house. Salesman (Doug) stopped by to get my insurance details. The salesman wouldn't have showed me shingle samples until I took the initiative to ask myself. I asked as he was getting ready to drive away. They probably would have went ahead and put any old shingles they chose if I wouldn't have taken it upon myself to ask. I feel it is the salesman's job to do the asking. If I would't have had roofing done by someone else in the past, I wouldn't have known. One of the company owners called the day before the roof was done and said he would be over to talk to me the day the roof was being worked on. He said he made it a point to speak to every customer that had roofing done. He never met with me once. It was after a hail storm they were probably very busy, I understand that. I feel that is no excuse. If you make a promise, you should keep it, plain and simple. A phone call would have been fine, but I didn't get that either. He also said he would make sure my insurance company was paying me enough on my claim. That didn't happen either. I also didn't get a follow-up call after the job was completed. The day the roof was done the workers showed up on schedule. They did want me to open my double-drive gate so they could park on the lawn. We were in a flood area with saturated ground so I couldn't allow that as their truck would have become mired in my yard. The roof has held up against snow, heavy rain and wind so far. I do worry however, as they left ragged valley flashing edges overhanging the roof. I do worry that the high winds we are having are going to pull the flashing / shingles up .I suppose I will have to have my son trim them so they are flush with the roof. The original salesman (Doug), stopped by the night the roof was completed at approximately 9PM, unannounced. I was in my pajamas getting ready to go to bed. No advanced warning or phone call. He probably was worried about getting paid. I had more than sufficient cash on hand at the time to pay for four new roofs. I had a $500 coupon for the finished roof. He tried to ADD the coupon to the final amount, instead of subtracting it! My son had to do the math for him. I then asked if he was going to give me a receipt for the work. He was only going to write the word PAID on my insurance papers-I could have done that myself. I finally got it through his head to give me an actual receipt! He had also told me the day I picked out my shingles that I would get papers for tax purposes because I had purchased energy star rated shingles. I never received anything for this either. Then he (Doug) said the roof looked great. How could he have known? It was pitch black outside, and he never even climbed on the roof! I have never had a roof completed before that wasn't inspected by company management. I would have used my old roofer, but unfortunately for me, he was retired. Needless to say, I will never use this roofing company again due to their incompetence. The only thing saving them from receiving an F rating from me is the fact the roof is holding up. To say I am not happy with LaHood Construction would be an understatement.

Very nice person and very responsive but I didn't feel comfortable that they never looked at my roof or house in order to provide what amounted to nothing more than an email with little detail about their bid. Description of Work: I was blown away with the expertise and professionalism that was given when I called. Mike and Jim where very knowledgeable and responsive. With all the Hail Damaged homes in the area LaHood actually did what they said they would do. I called a few other reliable companies but they could not respond until Spring of 2012. I guess their motto is true "You know it's good if it's LaHood"

I needed structural repair on my home's roof. I contacted LaHood, solely based on their high ranking at Angie's List. I left a message with their answering service. It took several weeks for a return call, and a couple more weeks before anyone stopped by to inspect my roof. At that point, the "inspector" said he was only qualified to estimate shingle repair, not structural work. A second visit by a second inspector a couple weeks later elicited only that a third estimator would need to stop by. That was it. No more calls, visits, contacts, or anything. By this time, the weather window was closing in. I needed work to be done before winter, so, I abandoned any hope of getting LaHood Construction to provide me with an estimate, let alone perform any repairs. I eventually contracted with another high-ranking Angie's List vendor. Sorry, LaHood. I gave you a chance, and you did not live up to my expectations. Granted, several severe hail storms battered Omaha this past summer, and that put a tremendous work load on ALL roofers. But LaHood's competitors found time to not only estimate the job, but kept the lines of communication open, in keeping me informed as to when they would be able to schedule and complete my repairs.

This company is terrible at communicating with customers about the progress of their work, they do not return phone calls and did not re-roof the house to it's previous state. I will say that they did replace the window well covers that they damaged which was the only positive thing i experienced from my ordeal with them. I feel that they possibly treated me like this because i am a woman or because the house is vacant and for sale so they assumed they could take their time on this job. The roof was left paritally completed for a week which does not look good to prospective buyers, nor does roofing materials being left on the property for weeks while the job was put off. I was told by Doug Rimington of this company that the small size of the house would make it easy to complete and a one day job ( i do have his voicemail). I was very disappointed.
Description of Work: I chose this company to replace the roof on my house due to hail damage (insurance claim). Three times i was given expected start dates for the work and received no calls when the work was rescheduled. The house is vacant and for sale so maybe that is why they felt it was not necessary to inform me of setbacks. So I constantly had to drive by the house to check on progress since i did not live there. At one point, Doug Rimington with Lahood asked if he could perform the work on November 17, 2011 and I informed him that my real estate would prefer he did not because she had hired a photographer to take pictures of the property that day. He told me it was no problem and work would start on the 18th of November - it did not. When i called Mr. Rimington he told me it was my fault because i didn't allow him to start on the 17th (he didn't see this as a problem before). He then told me a crew was willing to work on Thanksgiving, the 24th of November, 2011 so it would be completed then. It was not. The shingles had been sitting on the roof for weeks at this point. I asked if they could remove the shingles so i could hire a more reliable company and was told i would be charged a fee for removal of the shingles. The roof was finally started on approximately November 28th, 2011, but it was left partially done for a week. I was never told why it was left partially done and again had to drive by the residence (which was for sale) to constantly check on progress. I had to constantly call the company to find out what was going on and became very frustrated. As a single woman i feel i was taken advantage of, put off and treated horribly by this company. I now have to have the roof inspected and possibly fixed by another company because it was not repaired to it's original state. This was a horrible experience.

We regret any customer who is not 100% satisfied working with our company. We completely disagree with the claims made by this customer. We have worked on thousands of homes here in the metro area and have never been accused of such blatantly unprofessional work. We have bent over backwards to satisfy Member to no avail. Her home has a new roof that meets the best practices and accepted standards as well as manufacturer specification. Our work meets or exceeds all building codes. We can state with conviction that Member holds the #1 position as the most unreasonable, most demanding, most foul mouthed customer in our 30 year history. Still we have made every effort to meet with and resolve her concerns. However, when the conversation always starts with Member calling us mothe-r-#%*%'s interspersed with a litany of untrue accusations we find resolution impossible. As production coordinator I Mike Carolus state that: #1. The home of Member has had a quality roof installed at a reasonable price. This roof has all material and workmanship warranties fully in effect and transferable should Member sell her home. We offered to meet with Member and any representative, (expert or friend, any reputable roofer, adjuster or engineer) to inspect our work and Member refused.

Choose this company for their experience installing ridge vents and use of ice guard not only near eves but also in valleys. Fairly professional except owner did not spend as much time at site as we had expected. Bad weather (high winds, rain, and even snow) more than doubled the estimated project time, understandable. Crew did not always tell us if they planned to come or not. When here, crew was polite and worked hard. Daily cleanup was fairly good and appreciated by us. Difficulties with installing skylight due to non-standard opening were handled well and after several months we have not noticed any leaking.
Description of Work: Steep multi-ridge roof on 2-story house - difficult install as far as home roofs. Removed cedar shake roof and replaced with 50-yr asphalt shingles. Also replaced all box vents with ridge vents and replaced one skylight.

They were very professional to work with, and helped us with some unique challenges that we had with our roof. When they realized the chimney was in such bad shape, they stopped the job and had a qualified mason come in to rebuild it. They didn't rush through the job to get it done, and made sure it was done right. The new chimney was done very well, and at an extremely reasonable price. We're very happy overall with the service and quality they provided.
Description of Work: We had an extensive roof replacement done on our home. It included a complete tear off, some decking replacement, truss repair, mold treatment, fascia repair and new roof installation.
