I like the fact that they have been around for a long while.

They came when they said they would. They walked through everything and explained things well. They seem to be pretty comprehensive.

No problem with the one at work but did have a problem with unit at home. When this was installed they could not (without a major expense) install new copper tubing between the indoor and outdoor units. The line was cleaned as much as possible but this was not sufficient. It seemed to break scaling inside the copper tubing which caused major problems in plugged valves etc. To solve this problem a filter was installed to catch the small bits of scaling which solved the problem. No problem since. Fred's had a 3 month conversation with Trane and they agreed to provide us a 10 year parts and labor contract free. Trane did this at the continued insistence of Fred's. This was a hassle for 6 months, but in the end I was satisfied with the result.

Overall experience was ok but the initial work done when installing the pad for the heat pump was shoddy. My wife had to take pictures and "prove" to them that it needed fixing. When she called the first time they blew her off and told her it just needed to "settle". After she sent the pictures they fixed the problem and when the service rep came out for the follow-up he offered two extra years of service to compensate us for our troubles. Basically Fred's offered the best price and you get what you pay for. That being said I don't think the other companies are worth $2-3k more just for "service". In the end Fred's got it right and I would recommend them to someone with caution.

I really liked Mike the salesman and there were a couple of things he threw into the cost that he did not need to such as an upgrade to the thermostat becuase originally they thought I could go with the less expensive and found after getting in there that my wiring was not compatible so it would add more time. They also took out a return in my ductwork in the laundry room as it was not up to code in the laundry room. The price was one of the better ones out there and my friend had recommended them. She is very picky about who works on her house so I figured I would use them. The only complaint I have is Mike appeared to be too busy to handle the workload. I cannot remember but I think he moved our appt, he stated he would be at my house the Saturday after to collect and never showed up. When I called him he said he would come in a couple of days. It took him almost a month to collect on the install. Don't get me wrong I don't mind not paying for a month but I didn't get a lot of communication. Some problems I had were they formed the ductwork to tight to fit the filters in. I need to call them about that. It is a pain to get them in. They also did not form the duct work correctly in another area but a supervisor came out for inspection and made them re-do it. Also, they ran an electrical line through my garage to move my unit and when they did, they knocked out a lot of the bricking doing that and they came out and said they would fix it by insulating but they never did. After 2 more calls, I figured it wasn't worth my time.

I had several companies come to give an estimate. Fortunately they passed each other on the way in and out of my house, which I think may have helped the price via competition. One company, supposedly a wonderful one, never even got back to me with an estimate! Fred's got me an estimate immediately, explained the different types of HVAC to me along with their recommendation, and scheduled an installation. I was able to reach my rep with questions whenever needed. When the guys came, they were on time, very friendly and professional. They put down lots of cardboard to keep things clean and cleaned up when they left. I hung out and asked lots of questions about HVAC systems as I'm a new homeowner and want to know these things, and they were happy to give me lots of information. They did not have the materials to finish the extra duct so I rescheduled a date for that--it was very difficult for us to find a time when I was home so they actually came at 6 AM to do it! They also threw that extra duct in free as part of the deal. I did purchase a 10-year cleaning/maintenance package, which is actually a great deal, and I received a postcard a couple of weeks ago reminding me it is time for the 1-year maintenance check. I am very happy with the experience and the product is efficient and quiet.

They are very reliable. They did a quality installation and it is a great product.

Scheduling is a problem. They want a four hour window for someone to be home. This spring, they didn't even make it during this time. They have little regard for the customer's time.

When this company came out they were very friendly and did a good job. They were a little late but completed the work well and had a good work rate.

I have no complaints on Fred's Heating and Air. They have been pretty consistent and did a good job. They showed up when they said they would and got the job done. We've used them for five years. They gave us a good update on how our system is running.

No matter who comes to my home they are always friendly and make sure to do nice work. I am very pleased and would recommend this company to anyone.
