We chose Burton as our main plumbing/heating/AC provider as we moved to Omaha. Our experience has been decent with the company. They always tried to over-sell and get the big bucks from you but overall, it was easy to say no. The lady over the phone is really professional and is really aware of what's going on with the business. She can re-assign priorities and is nice to talk to. Recently one of our outdoor faucets broke... the water is really hard in our area and it's a 10 year old faucet. Well, I was not expected a $500 estimate on changing the faucet!!! Come on, the parts are less than $50 and the work is relatively easy for a professional! In less than one hour the job was done! I am a member of their service plan which gives us 15% off (but we still have to pay the infamous $50 dispatch fee). On top of that we had a coupon that the employee refused because we were member of the service plan and already had a discount! Well, refuse it being "sorry" not being "rude!!! I wish I were a plumber. $500 an hour is a good rate. I'm not sure why I went through the effort to get a master's degree in engineering!

The entire process went far better than expected, considering what was discovered with the use of the video snake. The local power company had bored a cable through our main sewer line, causing frequent back-ups.The fix was opening up an 8-ft. deep ditch in my front yard and re-routing the main drain out to the city sewer. I did not have to lift a finger. I voiced a concern about what my yard might look like when they were done. When the ditch was back-filled I was amazed at how well they had maintained the grade and slope in my yard. Afterall, these are plumbing experts, not landscapers. They returned a couple weeks later to fix another power company mistake. At the end of the day, they took the bill up with the power company and even helped me recover previously paid service calls related to this problem. Completely professional from first phone call to the finished product. This was a big project and potentially complicated series of events and Burton could not have handled it any better.

It went FANTASTIC.
Description of Work: my heat pump fan went out causing my air conditioning unit not to work and one of the hottest weeks of the year to this date. Burton came out late in the evening to repair my air conditioning unit so I can get my house cooled down. There was a problem with the manufacturer getting Burton the part they needed to fix my AC unit. When that part came in Burton took care of the service call. Burton have to come out a second time because my air conditioning unit froze up. This was thru no fault of theirs. It was my mistake for having a clogged filter. Again, this was an evening call and they took care of it. it is because of burns promise, professionalism of employees, and the way they handled my business I will be a lifelong customer Burton plumbing heating and air.

My water heater burst saturday morning. I called burton right away. The lady on the phone was polite and friendly. She listened to my problem and answered my questions about the service. The tech came out within an hour. He was well mannered, polite and was ready to work. He attempted to fix the water heater (which was over 20 years old, so I was prepared to buy a new one), I then told him I just want a new one. After he gave me several options, he made a call and within an hour a new water heater was at my house. It was nice that he didn't have to leave to go run around town, and I also appreciated that I could get it replaced the same day. He worked very thoroughly. Once he finished he cleaned everything up so it looked better than when he arrived. I was impressed by his skills, personality and work ethic. I will definitely be calling burton for all my plumbing needs from now on.

Technician scheduled and we were given a date and time range of 8am-12pm. Technician never arrived and office never bothered to let us know he wasn't coming. Very frustrating, but as we had a prepaid service contract we rescheduled. Technician arrived on time on 2nd appointment. Technician walked through house without any protective foot coverings (dirty boots). He evaluated the indoor components as well as the outdoor unit. He said he would need a garden hose to clean the outdoor unit. As he did not have a hose, I pulled a very long and heavy hose from the other side of the house to where he was working and set it up for him. He completed his testing and gave me his results. He said that my capacitor was broken, the contactor is too worn, disconnect was broken, unit was drawing too many amps for circuit and was very low on coolant (despite getting a 22 degree temp drop). Basically that everything in the system was broken. He gave me my options: 1) Completely replace the unit (no price estimate given); 2) Replace all the parts noted above, do a coolant leak search, repair the leak and replace coolant ($1919); 3) Replace parts and just reload coolant with no leak search & repair and with no warranty ($646); or 4) Replace 1 part and just add coolant - no warranty ($461). Now, at this point I do not have any reason to suspect his assessment is incorrect, as the A/C is over 10 years old. But as all the options were expensive, I politely told him I would need to discuss with my spouse and perhaps look into a replacement estimate. I would not be doing any repairs that same day. I then asked if he would be cleaning the outdoor unit, which was part of my prepaid service and as I had already set up the hose for him. I did not deem this an unreasonable request as 3 of the 4 proposed options were repairs to the existing unit. He told me "No he wouldn't need to clean it. It is really clean in there. There must be a sprinkler head close to the unit that cleans it out." At this point, given that there is no sprinkler head near the unit, I have a large amount of plant material in my yard that can be deposited in the unit, and that every other year this unit has needed to be cleaned, I started to become suspicious of the overall quality of the evaluation. I then contacted another A/C service company to reassess the unit and provide a repair or replacement estimate. Again, I did not think the Burton tech was necessarily wrong, but wanted to get another estimate due to the high cost of the repairs. After the 2nd company's review, they only recommended replacing the capacitor ($100 + $69 visit fee). They said my coolant levels were fine, the disconnect was just not properly inserted (he corrected), and we were well within amp draw limits for unit startup. As we did not have a prepaid service contract with this company, hosing out the unit was not included. But their technician took apart the exterior and showed me where to clean and I did it myself. I am extremely frustrated that Burton would tell me everything was broken and recommend full replacement or very costly repairs (that I now do not trust the they would execute correctly). Am also disappointed that their tech did not complete the work of the prepaid contract (cleaning). Will never use them again.
Description of Work: Came to perform annual maintenance and cleaning of air conditioner (as part of an annual prepaid service contract). A/C had been run a couple of days this spring with no obvious issues (i.e. it cooled the house those days).

I live in an apartment building and my shower was leaking into the condo below mine. On the day of repairs I had a representative from the building management, the owners below me, and the building maintance man (all required by the building rules) at my apartment at 9:00 a.m., when the plumber was scheduled to arrive. He did not show up until after 10:00 a.m. and would not answer his phone to let us know if he would be here at all. By the time he had shown up everyone else had left and he had the audacity to charge me $75 an hour for his 45 minute wait for everyone to return. After working for about an hour and a half he to an hour and a half lunch break. The job that was supposed to be done by 2 p.m. was still not complete at 4 p.m. when I had to go to work. He asked me to sign that the work was completed before he was done. When I said no, he told me it would be at least $150 more dollars for him to come back for the few minutes of work he had left to do. On another occasion I had my garbage disposal fixed for $250. It was supposed to have a 2 year warrenty but when it broke again a couple months later, they found a reason that the warrenty would not cover it.
Description of Work: He fixed the pipe and drip pan in my tub. I have also had them fix my garbage disposal and clogged drain.

Do not hire these people for anything. They have the information about what different services cost but are unwilling to tell you. I can understand if they have no clue what is involved on a service call but they knew specifically what was wrong. I also had a relative that had a bad experience with them. Stay away from these people!!!!!!
Description of Work: I had a leaking toilet wax ring on my main floor bathroom. I had replaced the wax ring but could not get it to seal completely. I decided to have a professional do the work. I called Burton Plumbing and asked the person answering the phone if they could give me a "ball park" figure on what it would cost. She indicated that she did not have that information. So I had them come out to replace the wax ring thinking how much can it be to replace a $5. part . The service technician told me it would cost 288.00 to reset the ring. ( I have never seen a wax ring that cost more than $10.00). It took him less than 30 minutes at the most .So I figure Burton is making over $250. and hour He informed me that he has no choice as their prices are set for specific services. The dispatcher had previously told me that they do not have this information. I have no complaints with the service but VERY VERY unprofessional operation. If I would have it was going to cost that much I probably could have had a handyman install a new toilet for that price. The service tech gave me a break and only charged 261.16

Our Burton crew quickly worked, exceeding the minimum requirements and didn?t permit the frigid weather slow them down. It went very well. It was a sump pump with battery backup. They are always courteous and they explain things. They are maybe a little high priced but they do quality work. Sometimes the scheduling doesn't quite go as planned, but they are very punctual for the most part.

I called Burton for some plumbing issues. I had 2 shower handles that were leaking, 1 toilet with a bad flapper and a bad garbage disposal. The prices ranged from: $708.83 to $4943.71 for repairs. Mark proceeded to tell me that my toilets weren't a good brand, (Standard brand), and that I might want to replace all 3 of them. Mind you, this was suggested because of a bad flapper inside the tank on one toilet. I was given 5 options: 1. Install disposal, replace flapper on 1998 toilet, rebuild master bath shower and tub and shower valve: $1119.46 2. Install carbon filter, replace disposal, replace 3 toilets, rebuild 2 shower valves, install stops under sinks: $4943.71 3. Replace disposal, replace hall toilet, rebuild 2 shower valves: $1,503.40 4. Replace disposal, hall toilet, rebuild 2 shower valves: $1,375.52 5. Unjam disposal, replace flapper, rebuild 2 shower valves: $708.83 After the sales pitch, I said this isn't what I expected. He then asked me, "Well, what did you expect?"... Now, I was a little taken aback that he felt I was being out of line when I called to have some simple repairs done. I said, "well it certainly isn't this. I called you for some simple repairs and I get hit with replacing my toilets, rebuilding showers and stuff". He said something like these were options available to me. He again asked, "Well, what did you expect?" So, I said something around $500 sounded more reasonable. He said he would have to call his manager to have that price approved. I declined telling him I would pay him what I owed him for the day and thanks for coming out. I also noticed on the paper he left with me, he wrote my original reason for the call was: "rebuild 2 pressure balanced shower valves, disposal is pitted". That verbiage is so foreign to me! I called to have 2 shower handles fixed, 1 flapper valve replaced and a disposal either fixed or replaced. I felt Mark was very condescending towards me and I also feel they were trying for too much "upsell".

Prices are very high, I estimate that I spent about 3 times what it would have cost me with any other reputable plumber to have this job done by Burton. Shame on me, I should have done my research ahead of time, but let this be a warning to others to get multiple bids and make sure they aren't being taken advantage of.

Started out with a clogged drain that was backing up into the dishwasher. Ended up being sold a garbage disposal for $300 because I was up sold...Then when the problem wasn't resolved the tech came back and promised it was fixed. Then had the same drain backup three days later and the dispatcher wasn't sure they would wave the charge even though I just joined their $19/month "service plan" that was going to save me money...Seems a supervisor by the name of Rich wouldn't return the call according to the dispatchers to see if they could "give me a break" and wave the dispatch fee. Then the tech comes and tells me their high-tech, super duper, heavy duty quality $300 garbage disposal can't take any potato skins, water melon rinds, egg shells, or spaghetti. What the h*** did I buy a new one for if it can't grind up garbage? It's still a mystery. It is my opinion that this company is a ripoff and lives on the up-sell. They are a very high priced, low quality joke...if I can get my money back for the membership I will never use them again. If I can't I will ride out the membership and then find a real plumbing company that does work theyare proud of.

To repair the drain it was necessary to jack hammer the concrete floor where the bad section of drain pipe was located. This was in the 10'x12' utility room (washer/dryer, furnace, water heater, sink, etc). The jackhammer had a vacuum attachment so very little dust was generated. I did not request that they saw out the concrete, which they would have done if requested, as that would have created much dust. They replaced the bad section and since the floor drain attached close to the collapsed section, that was replaced also. The service personal were very professional and answered all my questions without hesitation. Everything was cleaned up before they left. I would give them AAA rating is it was possible. Burton subs out the concrete repair work to Bob's Big Red Services. See my review there.
Description of Work: Had a very slow draining floor drain. This was also the same drain line the clothes washer drained into. Burton came out to clean out the drain, but found that the drain line had collapsed in one place. They could not get the drain completely opened, just enough so water would barely drain. Since they were not able to open the drain they only charged me the "dispatch fee", which was $14.95 (as a first time customer). Regular fee is $29.95. Scheduled Burton to come out to replace the collapsed portion of the drain.

He arrived at 5:30 p.m. and took a lot of time evaluating my water and giving me information which I know would be helpful if I wanted to hear it, but all I wanted was to have the work done that I mentioned above. He gave me 3 estimates which included replacing water heater, soft water, and toilet, the entire toilet. The prices were astronomical in price i.e. $6000, 2500 for a hot water heater and 900 for toilet. It was very overwhelming and I didn't appreciate having him go into all of that when all I wanted was simple work done that I had called for. By the time he left it was 8:30 p.m. and again I was very overwhemed and felt taken advantage of. The price of 700 was very expensive for what I had expected to be done. I did call and stateThe Water Heater, based in LaVista. They did an excellent job.

A grandchild put something down the toilet and we had a complete blockage, unable to clear with plunging. Burton came out and cleared it by plunging and told us if it plugged up again to call and they'd come out and snake it. After he left, the toilet, which was on the main floor, worked fine but it backed up in the basement toilet. When we'd try to plunge that one, it would then back up in the floor drain; if we'd plunge the floor drain, the toilet backed up. We called Burton and they said they'd be out as soon as they could get there. It was New Years Eve so the technician was on call and got there around 7 p.m.. The work was guaranteed so there was no additional charge for the repair, but since it was after hours, we had to pay the technician another trip charge, which was more than double the original trip charge. Except for the extra trip charge, we were satisfied with the job.

I signed up for their heating/AC check which includes semi-annual inspection of the system and includes a compimentary drain scope of the plumbing drains in the house. Since I was a 'member', they were supposed to contact me proactively to perform the services. I had to call them in all cases and still didn't get any priority for the services. Their contract was pretty pricey compared to other companies that perform these services. I also used them to connect a new valve for my water line to the refrigerator. The service quality was good but it was expensive. They also put a pretty strong sales pitch on for a VERY expensive water filter and softener system on each visit.
Description of Work: I had Burton out to check my heating and AC system twice - Spring and Fall cycle. I had them do a camera check of my plumbing drain (as part of the service package plan I signed up for). And also had them replace a valvle for my refrigerator water supply.

First of all we want to thank you for your input. Although it is regrettable to reschedule several times, our priority at Burton is to service customers with non-working or hazardous conditions before performing routine clean and check services. With the volume of work being done at the time of Member’s complaint we were unable to service every call in a timely manner. Our goal is to perform service check before the end of a particular season and this was stated at the time of Member purchasing his service contract. Given enough time he would have been contacted for this service to be completed. As for the issue of price we have done extensive research on this matter and set our pricing based on national averages. Our up front pricing to the customer assures there are no surprises at the end of the services performed. The “strong sales pitch” that was referred to, is quite simply information given to customers who have questions about the quality of the water in their home. As a service member Member is given an automatic discount on any and all additional services or repairs he may require. He always has the option to decline any services he does not want performed. Burton electricial was a no show. They phoned at 11:30AM the day of the service to cancel for a 1:00PM - 3:00PM appointment.
Description of Work: I phoned Burton to try their new electrical services. I had a light fixture that went out and needed someone to look at the wiring. I also wanted them to place a stacked switch in the bathroom so the vent and the light turn on separately. I made the appointment on a Tuesday for the followoing Monday. I took the day off of work on that Monday so I could meet the electrician and explain the work that needed to be done. The appointment was scheduled between 1:00PM and 3:00PM. On Monday, the day of the service should have been completed, Burton phoned at 11:30AM to tell me that the electrician had a huge project and wouldn't be available until the next week. They wanted me to reschedule. Really?? I am suppose to take another day off of work to wait around? I found someone else to do the work. I was very disappointed.

Here at Burton we treat each and every opportunity to help a customer with the utmost importance. There are times when mistakes are made, as with this instance we were not diligent in updating a customer about a change in work schedule, in a timely manner. From time to time there are necessary changes to the order of work planned for a certain day. In this instance we were forced to reschedule work previously planned to resolve a situation that posed a safety and well-being threat to another customer. It is regrettable that we were had to reschedule this work for the Customer. We would welcome an opportunity to make things right with her. Unfortunately, when we have a safety issue arise vs. a normal service call, we have to handle the safety issue first. We are not able to balance our manpower to emergency demand exactly even at all times, which results in rescheduling. We understand apologies do not help your frustration and completely understand! We are always striving to match emergency service calls to the correct number of techs and hope you can understand this is always a moving target. It was a great experience. He called before he came out to confirm the job he was doing and to let me know when he would be at my house. He got right down to business and was so polite and funny! He gave me options if he ran into an extra problem and was up front about costs. I would definitely work with Burton again. This is the second time I have had them out to my house this year and both times have been great.
Description of Work: Bill came to clean the drain from the washing machine, as the pipe would overflow when the machine emptied. He got the drain clear within about an hour and kept me informed as to what he was doing. He also discovered a bulge in the tube from the water spout to the drain, so he replaced those as well. He also put a video camera into the main pipe and I got to see what was in there from the house to the street.

great response time. very professional. The second job I thought the price on the part was a bit pricey but It was fixed after leaking over my basement floor at 3am. So I have not had any problems with either job.
Description of Work: We had major plumbing that need to be replaced in bathroom and kitchen that connected all together. They did a good job and thought the price was reseasonable for what they did. We also had them come back later to fix a part that was part of water meter on the inside of the house. They were here quick. We had water all on the basement floor. I did think that they price that they charge me for the part was very high but it was fixed very quickly and was happy to have it fixed and not to worry about it. They did a great job responding and doing the work that they were hired for.
