Complete blockage, no drainage with my plumbing. This happened on a Saturday and I was in a hurry to resolve this problem because I needed to leave and travel to Iowa for my ailing father. So they came early in the morning and I told them I need this problem resolved, quickly. So, he wrote up a bill to clean my floor drain to the main which has been done in the past several times before with this company. But now, he was forcing me also to have a camera to see if the line was cleaned. I did not want this added expensive of the camera, this was their package deal! And I had no choice! I had to schedule someone to camera the line on Monday. I did not have time to call in another company because the situation which was my father. So, I went ahead and paid for this service thinking I could cancel on Monday with their office and be reimbused. Wrong!!! And they never stepped foot in my house ever, again! A lesson learned get second or third bids before you get a company to handle your needs.
Description of Work: Cleaned my floor drain to the main on the condition that I pay for them to use their camera for them to see if they did their job correctly.

Clearly, if you were left with the impression four years ago that somehow you were required to pay for the camera check to inspect your sewer, we did a poor job communicating our services to you. What should have been explained was that, when our clients choose one of the premium options, we offer to complimentary camera the sewer all the way out to the City Sewer System. This ensures that whatever was blocking the floor drain is completely out of your system and flushed out to the City Sewer System. This offers the client the peace of mind that the blockage material is no longer their issue. This however is not required for us to honor our full two year warranty, which we were proud to do for you. I do not show where we were ever called back to do any sort of warranty work at your home, so I feel safe in assuming that the job was done to our high standards. I had a horrible experience with this company. I have a 6-yr old water heater that, a year ago, was leaking from the pressure release valve. It being a gas water heater and me being a grandma, I wanted a professional to service it. Burton sent a tech out that tried to upsell me everything under the sun including a new water heater, installed, for some ridiculous price in the thousands that I've forgotten. It would also need a pressure reducing valve and an expansion tank for another few hundred dollars. Knowing that I had neglected to perform maintenance since I purchased the home, I asked for the water heater to be cleaned. Then the tech informed me that he really doesn't know much about residential water heaters, he works on commercial boilers mostly. But he could call another tech who just happened to be in the area and he would be "my guy" who knew everything about water heaters The 2nd tech arrived and went through the WHOLE song and dance upsell again. I've never ever been so furious over a service call. I finally demanded that he clean the water heater and get the h*** out of my house. He vacuumed under it and inside the removable grate with a shop vac and they went on their merry way, saying I'd get an invoice in the mail. After researching maintenance on the internet, I went to Menards and bought the necessary valve for $20 and replaced it myself, furious all the while that I'm the only person I can trust. A year later and it's still working fine. The invoice arrived a few weeks later and was $150. When I called to explain that no way was I paying that amount for listening to 2 hrs of upselling and getting zero service in the end, a manager explained, "Well, that's what they're trained to do, and that grate's a little tricky." If you research "contractors from h***" they will tell you to stay far far away from those who advertise incessantly, as does Burton. They are not about quality work, much less about solving a customer's problem. They are only about numbers.... numbers with dollar signs in front of them.

We called the provider because we had a clogged toilet downstairs. When they arrived, we told them we had a clogged toilet in the downstairs bathroom. They proceeded to look upstairs and in the basement as well as the toilet in question. They then said they would go out to their truck & write up some options for us & be back in 10 minutes. They came back 1/2 hour later & offered us 6 options (to unclog a toilet!) ranging in price from $6200 (that's right $6200) to the $500 option we chose. They worked for 2 hours. That's $250 an hour. We should have called another plumber, but we were desperate because my elderly husband cannot climb the stairs to our second floor bathroom. If your plumbing's hurtin, don't call Burton

Description of Work: They came to us for a toilet that over flowed and ended up doing over eight thousand dollars worth of damage to our home by cutting a huge 4ft by 6ft hole in my living room ceiling. My home is only 5 years old. I needed the A team on a Saturday morning and they sent a young inexperienced plumber to sell me a service package for over three thousand dollars. They are unethical with their pricing and one of the managers there was extremely unprofessional with me on the phone yelling at me and name calling. I went back and forth with them for over a month on the damages. It was a nightmare. I cannot believe they are still in business. I would never use them again.

They gave me 6 options to fix my AC even though they did not know exactly what was wrong. Out of those options 4 of them would have cost more than what I paid for the unit 7 years ago. I found this very overwhelming as I am not the expert on air conditioners. I just wanted them to tell me what was wrong & fix it. The technician said he thought it was the starter but if they replaced that he could only guarantee it for 30 days. He mentioned that oil from the fan motor was leaking & I could replace the starter & motor for $1056 & then have a 60 day warranty . The remaining 4 options included replacing the compressor -and much more as the level of repair was more "thorough" - but no one told me the compressor was under a 10 year parts warranty. I found that out from several competitors who used the model number to get that info within minutes. The technician only did the inspection and did not do the cleaning as I did not have them repair the unit. I got a second opinion from another company who found the problem was the capacitor which was a $55 part. The 2nd technician found no evidence of an oil leak. I contacted Burton's customer service to inquire about the issues I had and the lady I spoke to said she would talk to her manager to see what could be done to make it right. Though the lady I spoke with was very concerned & helpful at the time, I have not heard back from Burton now in over a month. I have used Burton a lot in the past & have been very satisfied. This was a disappointing experience. Update: Following this posting, I have heard from a rep from Burton. They were willing to make things right.

While the tech was using the installation instructions, I asked him if he removed the plug to the dish washer, he stated yes. When the disposal was finally installed after two & 1/2 hours, i again asked if the dish washer plug was removed from the disposal. He said yes. I paid him and he left. Later that day i ran the dish washer and it would not drain. I called Burton back and explained the issue and the same tech came back the following day. Again I asked him if he removed the the dishwasher drain plug and he said yes. He pulled the dish washer drain hose and it had food on the end. He removed the food from the end and reinstalled the hose on the disposal. No drainage again. He told me the entire hose was full of food and he could not replace it. Again I ashed him if he had removed the drain plug from the disposal. Yes was his answer w/o verifying. I called other companies who could replace the hose to the dish washer and it would cost $450 to $500.00 dollars. The dish washer was eight years old and two of the companies suggested getting a new dish washer. So I did. The tech who installed the new dish washer could not get it to drain and checked the drain hole. The plug WAS STILL IN PLACE and was NOT REMOVED. I had to buy a new DISH WASHER FOR NOTHING. I emailed Burton to discuss this issue and never heard back from them.. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Description of Work: Replace a garbage disposal that was frozen with food. Tried to tell me that my problem was my drainage pipes and would cost me $1800.00 to fix. I proved to the tech this was not the case.

On Easter, our ac died. The next day, Burton, with whom we already have a Service Partner Plan (for annual ac, furnace, plumbing, and drain checks) came out to have a look. They quoted a couple options for repair. Based on the age and quality of the unit, and type of freon in it, we decided to replace rather than repair. Using Angies List, we had 3 estimates done. Burton had the brand we wanted, Trane, at the right price point. The installation took one afternoon. The installers wore booties in the house as well as put down floor protectors wherever equipment was moved. So far so good. I will be curious to see how the electric bills compare to last year when it gets hot this summer. On Sunday, August 2, 2015, the AC was NOT cooling. I called Burton and they were able to get a tech out that day. Yay! The tech wrote "found TXV sticking , added chemical at this time, follow up in two days." He told us that this is a manufacturer's defect in a Trane and that a chemical additive usually fixed the problem. There was no charge because this is under warranty. I am happy Burton fixed the problem, for now... BUT I am disappointed that TRANE which is supposed to be reliable had ANY problem, much less one so soon after purchase!

Burton installed our new furnace and central air when we bought our house in 2008. A few months ago the blower stopped working. We called Burton and they sent a repair man at the time that they said they would. he was very knowledgeable and explained everything to us very thoroughly. The part was under warranty still but the labor was not. He replaced the motor about 3 days later after they had received the part from the manufacturer. He charged us the minimum service call. We were very happy with his service.

I did not even end up using them for service. Especially after they charged me around $200 just to come out. I think they are just getting too big and forgetting about what they stand for as far as customer services go. He also insulted my faucets because they were old and outdated. He said they would not be able to fix due to their age; however the other person with additional company was easily able to fix this issue. I just felt that they were rude and trying to charge for work that was not needed. I would not recommend them.

I called Burton to fix a $10 leaking shut off valve on the toilet, Normally I do this stuff myself but my daughter is very sick with leukemia and I told the guy this when he showed. I had the water off and asked them to please just replace the valve and leave so I could focus on her. An hour and thirty minutes later - all the "testing" was done and I was presented 5 options. Option 1- no bull- was $7000- and included a dechlorinator, water softener, and something to reduce the pressure coming into the home. Oh yes and that little shut off valve that u wanted would be included in that as well. I took option 5 : $150 and 20 minutes later the valve was fixed. Never again.

Ever since we bought our house and had the Radon System installed into the same well as our Sump Pump (not by choice), we have had issue after issue after issue with it. Each time we have called Burton, they came out right away and fixed the problem. Jay and James have both been out to service the pump and both of them not only knew what they were doing but showed me how to fix/repair and maintain the pump/well. Yes, there is a small fee just for them to come out and take a look at the issue but they wouldn't go ahead and start repairing and charge me a fee that was way out of my budget like some other companies did. Also, Burton just recently started providing electrical service/repairs. We had an issue with our fuse box and once again they sent out a certified electrician right away. If you ever run into an electrical problem, call Burton...ask for Joe and you'll be very satisfied with your results.

We had a number of heavy rains around March and I noticed that my sump pump had not run. I called Burton and they came out the same day. The technician came in and I asked him what it would cost to repair the sump pump. He said he wouldn't know until he looked it over. He also stated that I would have to pay a service charge even if I decided not to have the work done. I didn't have an issue with that because that is fairly standard. The price he quoted me was under $100.00. After 20 minutes he came back up stairs and told me that I needed a new sump pump. He opened his book and he said could install a new one for $600.00. That seemed high so I told him that I would pass for now. He went back down stairs to look at the sump pump again and miraculously it started to work without replacing any parts. The total of the bill was $220.00 and the tech said that he cleaned out the pump. I have never been more upset with a service company then I was with Burton. I have had conversations with a dozen different people and have told them to stay miles away from this company. Ironically there always seems to be someone that enters into the conversation that has a story similar to mine.

Very bad. Installation should have never occurred due to irregular cut in countertop. Cut was oversized and kitchen sink had gaps all along the sides which led to leaks into kitchen cabinet below. Plumber should have stopped and recommended getting countertop replaced and not have charged me the $820. Attempts were made to try and band aid fix the issue but never to my satisfaction. Plumber tried filling in gaps with strips of wood but still had gaps visible. To fill the gaps, silicone sealant was used on edges which made for a poor install, sealant that was clearly visible on the outer edges and gaps still visible from underside. Called Burton management and requested a refund on original installation that should never have happened due to countertop issues that plumber had noted in his paperwork. Plumber went ahead and completed the install. Was told install was good to go and should have no issues. Manager admitted to be at fault and plumber made a bad decision with the install but still would not give me a refund. Only thing offered was a reinstall of sink once countertop was replaced. My issue with that was that I am out $800 plus for a shoddy install. If the plumber had informed us that a new countertop would be the best recourse for a proper install of sink instead of charging us $800 which I could have used this towards a new countertop replacement. Have stopped being a service partner with Burton and would not recommend using Burton Plumbing for any services.

I needed a garbage disposal replaced. I already had a disposal so just needed the old one removed and new one installed. I tried to contact JTM Plumbing based on reviews here. They quoted me a price of no more than $100 unless there were issues. They were busy til Wednesday though. They recommended me to Backlund Plumbing, who also had good reviews here. They quoted me around $100 or less also. But they too were busy till thursday. I found Burtons on Angies and they had a grade of B. I called and they would not quote me a price until they got here and told me there would be a Dispatch fee of $50. Eric got here and spend 10 minutes writing up a estimate of $365 for the work. I informed him i was not gonna pay that and that 3 other plumbers quoted me around $100 or less. When I was shopping for disposals at Lowes their install fee of $80. He told me he does not know what others charge. I said you wasted my time and should have told me over the phone you were charging $300/hour. He said we don't give estimate until we show up at which time you owe up $50 for dispatch. Perfect scam. He asked what price I would be comfortable with and I said I wasn't going to pay $365 and told him to leave. He collected $50 and was on his way. Not sure how they even have a B rating. Checked BBB afterwards and they also grade them a B , but they have 36 complaints over 3 years. Went with another plumber and their price was over $250 cheaper and done within an hour of arriving. Amazing how fast you can get the work done when you start working right away instead of spending 10-15 minutes writing up a overpriced invoice. Highly recommend Paul the plumber instead. Update: Would be nice if Burton would respond to criticism of their prices with something other that the stardard (Cut and Paste) reply. You tell people over the phone you cant give estimates over the phone because you don't have preset prices and the plumber must evaluates each situation. That is fine. But then the plumber gives a ridiculous estimate and tells me that the prices are preset and he has no say in the matter. Which is it??? I found a plumber who did it for $100 and got quotes from 2 other who told me around or less than $100. Lowes told me $80. If your price of $365 is the local average than your research should have found 4 plumbers who would install a disposal for $600. Please tell me who those plumbers are and i will add them to my "Do Not Use" list. You quote BBB as saying phone quotes are 30% higher than if someone comes to your house. Well your quote was 250% more their their quotes and what I was charged . If you need help with math(how to calculate avg) let me know. I tutor math and chemistry. I just did some local research on tutors and would only charge your $250/hour. Check Yelp for more reviews and complaints about this tactic.

Pleasant person came out. However! WAAAY overpriced, I had to threaten to call another plumber to get someone to come out on the 2nd day. Day before yesterday: First call, service was promised between Noon and 5PM, the next day (yesterday). Told them I would be leaving the house at 4PM. They said they could work with that. Called at 3PM, said they were a bit backed up, but somebody would get to me. Left the house at 4:20PM, having heard nothing more. Called them, told them to reschedule, this time for AM. They said they were all full, but she'd put me on the schedule for the AM, and see what happened. I told her I'd find another plumber and hung up. She called back and promised to have someone here first thing today. That happened. Nice guy called at 7:45AM, came over and looked at the problem, recommended changing out everything but the sink bowls. for an exorbitant price. Said thanks, I'd discuss it with my wife (school teacher with open house tonight), and please leave a copy of the prices for me to discuss them with her. He said he couldn't. I copied the prices myself, paid him for his call, and said goodbye. And I WILL call somebody else!
Description of Work: Looked at the problem, basically told me I needed to replace everything except the sink bowls, because of a leaky hose under the sink.

The process went in stages. Our AC was very old and we had been limping it along for years. It stopped working because we had a leak and it needed 3 pounds of coolant replaced. It was $400 to replace this. The tech was honest and told us it was an older unit and that the coolant it uses was no longer environment friendly, which is why it was so expensive to add. I knew this as I had used a different company to do the same thing a year before and they also charged $400. I asked the tech if he would talk about replacing it. He told me he would have one of the sales guys contact me. The sales person called right away and came out to see us that evening. We went over pricing and different models. He was very nice and not pushy at all. We talked it over and called him back a few days later and had it installed. The 2 techs that installed it were again very nice and did a terrific job. They cleaned everything up and were very courteous and respectful of our house. They always wore booties and asked before they went into other rooms. They installed the new thermostat and showed me how to operate it and answered all my questions. They were done in 3 hours. The sales person knocked off $500 for the new unit and knocked off the $400 we had already paid them for the coolant in the old AC. The bonus is our OPPD bill dropped almost $100 a month on average from previous summers just because our crappy old unit was constantly trying to keep up. The new one works great and my house is cool and comfy. I would definitely recommend Burton to my friends.

It was fine. And, when he tried to sell me other services I told him I was too busy with my grandson right then. He did not try to "hard sell" me, just gave me his card and told me to call when I had time. Thank goodness!

They came out and looked at our A/C. Cost of replacing two motors was $4,000. Decided on new A/C. They installed it the next day. They gave a range of options and did not pressure us in any way. The installation took 6 hours which is exactly what they told us. The workers were very professional. They also replaced my furnace two years ago. I would use them again to work on an HVAC system, however, I had them do some plumbing and they were over priced.

We used them for many years and we now switched to another provider. They are kind of overpriced; I don’t think they were looking out for their customers so much as their own. They did the fine on the plumbing and they fixed it but they recommended things that didn’t need to be fixed.
Description of Work: We used to use Burton A/C Heating Plumbing & More for heating and air services. They last came out and put in some plumbing pipes under our floors and did maintenance on our heating and air conditioning unit.

We are out Air conditions about 2 weeks. And I was keeping shopping round and I called 5 vendors to estimate the price for new systems. Burton's sales Manager Les Dome did a fabulous job with us and I am very very happy with his services and he gave me best technician and his name is Tony. I give hat off to Les and Tony. I really like their service. Les is the best sales person. All their work is 5 Star work, If somebody needs new system please call Les Dome and Tony (Master Technician) for perfect work.
