Description of Work: We thought a ring might have gone down the shower drain. Couldn't find it on our own, so called this business. It was Friday afternoon when I called, after hours by the time he arrived. The guy seemed to think he was funny/charming with remarks like, "How'd you do that?" and telling me I'd be able to see the ring if it were in the trap. I had looked, a bend in the pipe prevented seeing more than a couple inches--which he discovered when he looked, and had to get a special tool. He thought he saw the ring, and had to go down to the garage and cut a hole in the ceiling for access to the pipes. No ring. Then he said he could check the main drain. Started taking it apart, without putting a bucket below. What plumber opens the main drain without a bucket below? Husband stopped him, we paid him and got him out of our home. While writing up the invoice, the guy mumbled something about after-hours charges. That wasn't mentioned when I called, and the bill was not itemized, so I don't know whether we were charged more because of the time. We will never call Ben Franklin Plumbing again.

Description of Work: Called them to repair a leak in the toilet. The serviceman identified and resolved the problem. While there, asked about an issue with the kitchen faucet. The serviceman investigated, attempted to repair, provided options for resolving and provided a temporary workaround. Later had him return to install a new faucet.

+ -1 moreThey were punctual, polite, wore booties and explained everything very well. They’ve done work for us before including installing a tank-less water heater and water softener. They are also very accommodating to my schedule and knowledgeable about such things as 'bio-bend'. They take the time to explain things and go above and beyond. They were great to work with and I would recommend their service to others.

+ -1 moreMy shower wouldn't shut off and I looked up plumbers on Angie's List. The problem started during a snow storm after hours so I decided to wait until the following morning. I called my normal plumbing company, but no one was in the office due to the snow storm. I looked up options on Angie's List and chose Benjamin Franklin plumbing as it had good ratings and it was the closest to my house. They were great to work with and kept me informed since the weather caused a lot of unusual problems. They replaced a cartridge in the shower faucet (he had one in his truck). I was happy enough with the service I also bought the membership which provides discounts and plumbing routine annual checks (that cost $99 over the repair amount stated above).

We didn’t know what to expect as we had not done that kind of work before but what he did was worth and that was what we needed. He cleaned up all by himself, was very knowledgeable and told us some other things that we might want to look in doing later. He wasn’t pushy in anyway and we were very pleased with him. He got here before we expected him as we think that the job he was supposed to do before got cancelled or something. He called us and asked if he could come in early and that was perfect for us.
Description of Work: We used Benjamin Franklin for plumbing about a month ago. Our kitchen faucet was leaking and couldn’t turn it off and it kept dripping. So we had him come in and they replaced the faucet, the drain and some of the pipes underneath. He also put in a sprayer which wasn’t connected and fixed it.

Which is handy if you're at work and need a heads up to meet the plumber, as opposed to waiting around during your 4 hour window. The plumber, John Miller, quickly assessed the job and gave me an estimate. I live in an older house, built in the 30s, so any work always has the potential for surprises. Even so, the final price was exactly the same as the estimate and the work was done in reasonable time and first rate quality. I would use Ben Franklin Plumbing again and recommend them to friends.
Description of Work: They replace a leaking bath tub faucet set with a new one that I had purchased. They also sell faucets as well.
