BACKLUND PLUMBING

Of all the plumbing firms that I worked with (estimates discussion of work, etc.) in resolving my issue (broken sewer main near street). The staff at Backlund were the only ones that seemed fully honest and forthright in discussion of the potential cost of the work. Once the work was done it was accomplished quickly, and fully resolved my drain backup issues. As it turns out, the electric utility (OPPD) had damaged the sewer, and ended up paying for the work, but the people at Backlund were extremely helpful in expediting the process. Beginning to end (including sidewalk replacement and reseeding of turf) the whole process only took a couple of weeks.

The last one that they sent out was he only one able to fiqure out my problem. He fiquresd it out and everything is working fine now.

Tim arrived on time and set to work immediately. Once he was done he explained to me that I have one section of outgoing pipe that was blocked more than other spots, but he kept at it and cleared out the blocked area. He was finished by 8:50, and he billed me for one hour (total $90 and change). Tim was very professional. He wasn't put off by my dog, in fact he enjoyed petting her. I wish I knew about Backlund Plumbing years ago, it would have saved me a lot money. UPDATE: a few months after having the outgoing pipe worked on I was again having trouble with my washing machine water backing up. I called the company and sent out a (different) man. He told me that the problem was probably that I was using too much detergent in the washing machine. He charged me only $45. I began to reduce the amount of detergent and he was right, there has been no more backing up. I was told that too much detergent creates lots of bubbles in the water, too much air, making it harder to go through the pipes. Lesson learned,

Plumbers had to come on two occasions. No problems with the bathtub drain and clogged toilet. Very little time was spent and the guys cleaned up with very little for me to finish (but I'm also very picky about cleaning). The kitchen sink was impossible to unclog. Tim went out of his way to show me what was going on (I was in another room and didn't bother him) and kept me in the loop as he was making no progress. He said he believed something underground was the main problem. As he was demonstrating, a pipe under the sink broke. It was badly rusted. (The house was built in 1954.) Three days later Kurt and Richard came to break the basement floor, replace most of the piping from under the sink to underground (and used bigger sizes), added a support to the main pipe and replaced the broken floor with concrete. I asked Kurt why he didn't replace one portion of the original pipe (starting just below the basement ceiling). He said he tested it with "grippers" to determine if it was rusted out. He was certain that piece was in good shape but placed a support on the pipe below the basement ceiling. Again, the guys cleaned up very well. The only problems I had were: 1) each time I talked with the office, I was told I would receive a call before anyone arrived. Neither time did I receive a call, and both times the guys were early. I would never take any marks off the rating for contractors arriving early; but for the second appt, there was a good chance I would not have been home when Kurt arrived. 2) I patiently waited too long between appts, but Tim told me Greg (the appt scheduler) would call me. I did receive a call early on Day 4 from Tom (the estimator). He did apologize and told me they were short staffed, which is obvious because the estimator was doing the scheduling. Kurt and Richard came out the same day, which made me very happy. I didn't rate the cost because I have no idea what a fair rate is, but I know I will continue to use Backlund because their service and the quality of their work are outstanding. And punctuality!!!

Very prompt, professional, had the necessary parts, even redid the toilet with a different part to make it work better.

Called Backlund to evaluate a leak we found in the ceiling of a room. It was coming from a shower on the 2nd floor right about the leak. He determined it was a leak in the water pan of the tile shower. Gave us an estimate that it would cost $1000-2000 to tear out the shower and replace the water pan. We evaluated the situation and found a large crack in the grout near the drain where the water was leaking. Adding a little caulk sealed the crack and we have not had a leak since. Granted this is not a permanent fix to the problem, my poor report for this company is detailed below. While on site, we had him look at a different shower on the first floor that had a leaky handle (when turned on, water shoots out the handle). We notice water running down a pipe in the basement. He determined it to be from a toilet on the first floor bathroom. This made no sense to me at all since it would be quite a coincidence to have two completely different new leaks occur on the same day. It was obviously from the same leak in the shower on the 2nd floor. Backlund stated it would be 1.5 days labor to fix the leaky handle on the first floor and the toilet because "something behind the wall must be leaking." It also entailed gutting the plumbing to both. We had a different plumber come out to look at the leaky faucet which he was able to fix in less than an hour for a total cost of $100. We have had no water leaks since that time. Beware their advice, seems like all they want is to tear everything apart so they can charge you more!

I called Backlund Plumbing on 4/19/10, they sent a service man on 4/20/10 in which he gave me an estimate and said he could work on it on 4/23/10. He arrived very close to time on Friday the 23rd, and finished the job in approximately 4 1/4 hours, close to time he originally quoted. I was pleased with the job that was done, and thought the price was fair. He also installed an outside all weather faucet that I had requested. I would highly recommend this firm for any plumbing work or drain work.

I scheduled it two days ahead of time for 10:00 AM. I was told it would take four hours at $85/hr plus parts cost. Scott arrived right on-time. He completed the work in only three hours, cleaned everything up and did excellent work! He was pleasant and cordial.

I called about the leaky faucets in the morning, and they were able to get someone out by lunchtime. He arrived at the promised time, and explained that he would likely have to cut a hole in the wall, and did I want him to proceed? Yes, I did, and he determined that the faucets could not be removed without getting at the pipes behind the wall, too. He ahd to move the washing machine out and went to work. He finished the work as described, and replaced the piece of drywall, which is behind the washer, so is not visible. He worked steadily, and cleaned up. He was professional throughout.

They get an A+! They sent out one technician who looked everything over and said he was going to need some extra help. The owner came out and they determined how many people they would need for the work. They pulled a couple of other people from other projects and they got all of the work done in one day. They charged me a very reasonable price for their work.

It was on a weekend. They had it replaced by 4:00 that afternoon even though they had many customers that day. They were very friendly and professional.

We had low water pressure in a shower after we moved in. We tried cleaning and then replacing the shower head, but it didn't solve the problem. Another plumber had told us we'd have to spend thousands of dollars to redo the plumbing in the whole house. We called Backlund to get another opinion and the guy agreed that our plumbing was kind of "do it yourself-ish" but had a much cheaper solution to the shower pressure issue. He simply took the fixture apart and cleaned it out and then showed us how we could do it ourselves next time. This was complicated enough that we couldn't have done it ourselves the first time, but we could now. It tremendously improved the problem and was the best $100 we've ever spent! Another time we called them for consultation on a bigger problem and the guy came out and gave us a pricey quote and then instructed my husband how to do it himself to save money. He didn't even end up charging us anything for that call! Very honest company!

We will never use them again. The technician didn't show up when he said he would, but charged us for the time anyway. We actually watched him sit in the driveway for 15 minutes before he started to work. He also tried to charge us for that, and I thought that was very unprofessional and we were not happy.

Backlund Plumbing & Heating Company was called and made an appointment for us immediately, they arrived on time and completed the work quickly and cleaned up very nicely. There have been absolutely no problems since.

I picked out the sink, and they brought it out and installed it. It had a chip in it and when I said something to them, they said it wouldn't hurt. I paid five hundred dollars for a sink that was chipped up. They even tore up my cupboards when they installed the sink. I am very unhappy about the job that they did and it is the last time I'll use them.

He did a very good job but he had the wrong size plug so the owner stopped by and he had the wrong part. The young plumber came back the next day with the right plugs and installed them. I thought he was good at with the follow up and I was happy that he came back the next day. There was no mess and he was very reliable.

They are the worst plumbing company I have ever had to deal with. When I called them, it took a few days for them to get out here. When they did finally come, they told me that they would have to order the piece, which was fine with me. What I didn't like was that they charged me just for looking at it. Once the piece came in, they charged me again to come tell me that it was the wrong piece that they had ordered. That went on like 3 times before they got the right piece and every time they charged me for coming out. When they finally got the right piece and fixed it in less then a week later, it broke again. I had to hire another company to come in and fix it.

Backlund Plumbing and Heating were very professional and courteous. The workers were very informative and let us know what they would be doing. They were more than happy to answer any questions that I had and returned my calls quickly. When they finished, I had no cleanup to do. The only work left for me to do was to put grass seed where they had dug out by the street. I was very happy with the work that they did for me.

They did something with the pipes and it didn t take them long. I used them regularly and they have always done a great job for me. They didn t leave a mess or destroy anything while they were at my home. I was happy with their services.

I have been using this company for years. It's the only one I use. They always come out the same day and when I call and they are very easy to talk to. It was like they really cared if I had a problem, and really wanted to get it fixed for me.

Backlund Plumbing & Heating Company did an excellent job in our bathroom. They were very timely in their work. The workers were professional and friendly. This company is reliable and efficient. I would highly recommend them to others.

This is the second time Backlund Plumbing has done work for us. Both times have been good experiences, and both service reps were professional, polite, and honest.

I am very satisfied with the work they did. They made sure to explain everything and answered any questions I had. The man that came out was really nice and he liked my dog which is definitely a plus in my book.

We have used him on several different job and he always showed great professionalism when he was here. He was very trustworthy and even though he got paid by the hour, he worked quickly to get the job done. His quality of work was good and that was why we continue to use his services. He was very clean and I liked that.

They did a fine job. They were able to remove the clog without any problems. They responded quickly to my call. They were here within a day after I placed the call. The representatives were very respectful and professional inside my home. They didn t leave a mess and got the job done.
