Terrible! We had used Charlie's several years ago to replace a hot water heater and a recirculation pump. They did a fantastic job. The total cost was about $1300.00 which was very reasonable. I was totally satisfied. I contacted them for a leaky shower head, as they had been very good several years earlier. I found out later the company had sold to a new owner. They sent a guy out, he said he fixed it. He did not. I called them back, they sent a different guy out, he said he fixed it. He did not. I called them back a third time, they sent another different guy out, he said he had to order a new cartridge and the other guys should have done that in the first place. He came back the next day and replaced the cartridge and said it was fixed. It was, but he had it so the cold came out hot and the hot came out cold. (put it in backwards). By now I am extremely upset. I decide to live with the backward installation as I have had to leave work several times to meet them at the house. I get the bill and it is for $180.00. I call to complain and they tell me the bill is correct. I tell them the issue with the cartridge being put in backwards, and they tell me they will fix that. The guy that put it in backwards came back. He fixed it and apologized. The whole ordeal was very frustrating. Would not use them again.

Everything went pretty well, they dealt with my unpreparedness and installed everything in a very timely manner. My only complaint is that they tore out a few things and didn't replace them when complete, ie. drywall and insulation. I realize they had to move these things, but other contractors I've dealt with have replaced them when finished. The only other thing that happened was that I had them hook up my tub so that it could be used, even though the room isn't finished. They hooked it up, but didn't have the cold line run to it. Had the copper running through the floor, just nothing hooked up to the other end of the copper. I pointed it out to the installer and he quickly remedied it the next day. Over all experience was very satisfied.

We used this plumber because our carpentry contractor insisted. Roger (from Charlie's) provided a time and materials estimate of $3500 for the plumbing work for our bathroom remodel based on fixtures chosen prior to the estimate. The estimate included all new fixtures, and installation and tear out of the existing fixtures. I specifically asked if the price were for all time and materials, and was told that it was. When the work was being done, Charlie's did not do the tear out as there were no employees available at the time, though this service was part of the original estimate. There were no changes from the products and scope of work originally discussed. Charile's did not have the correct fixtures when it was time for final installation. A rain head with an 18and quot; pipe to the center of the shower and a separate sprayer head with controls mounted on a bar were chosen. The fixtures sent over included a 7 or 8and quot; angled pipe for the rain head and a sprayer with no slide bar. Again, both of these items were discussed SPECIFICALLY when the fixtures were chosen. The plumber assigned to the finish work left the job three times to go to the hardware store for the correct drill bit. The final labor charge included all of the time for the trips to the hardware store, and we were charged for many more hours than were worked as notes were kept regarding the dates and times when all contractors were on site. The plumber left a box of and quot;spareand quot; parts that were purchased for the job, but not used. Not extra pieces and small parts that often come with fixtures and may or may not be used, but actual pieces in their own package. I guess they thought they might be necessary, and figured that we should pay for them anyway. So, Charlie's did less work than they were contracted to do, provided parts and fixtures that were not used, but charged for on the invoice, did not send a plumber with the correct tools for the job and still charged $700 more than the estimate. The bill was two pages long. There was line after line of charges for parts identified only by part number, so there is no telling what they were. After all of this, I got ANOTHER bill, for the original (incorrect) shower head that the employee had not taken back to the shop. Several extra parts (including the extra handheld) were left. A refund was requested for those that were not used, but charged. It has been more than a month and no refund has been received. Charlies has been given all of the parts back. Although the work was well done, it would have been just as well done by another plumbing contractor for less money and we would not have been left feeling we had been taken advantage of. This same review is being left for Total Plumbing, LLC as the company is in the process of changing their business name.
